    Q
I need to treat poa annua and oxalis in my Austin, TX zoysia lawn. How and when do I apply Andersons 0.48 Barricade Herbicide?
    A

Andersons 0.48 Barricade Herbicide contains a pre-emergent that needs to be applied before weeds have emerged as it is used to prevent germination.  Please contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region.

    Q
How do I set my Scott broadcast spreader to apply Andersons 0.48 Barricade Herbicide?
    A

Unfortunately we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo and the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their bag of Andersons 0.48 Barricade Herbicide. Due to there being thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates. You can see a short video on how to accomplish this below.

    Q
Is Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide safe for pets and kids?
Is this safe for kids and dogs? If not, how long after applying can they go on the lawn?
    A

Andersons Barricade is safe for pets and kids as long as they are not in the area during application. The granules will need to be watered in to be activated, and once the product has had time to try they are safe to re-enter the area.

    Q
Is rain after The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide application an issue?
It has been dry for the past 3 days, however rain is in the forecast off and on for the next 5 days. Should I apply now and water in ahead of the rain or wait 5 more days?
    A

Per the product label of Andersons 0.48 Barricade Herbicide, "Apply this product to dry foliage only. Overhead irrigation or rainfall soon after application will wash granules off plant foliage and activate this product in the soil." You may want to wait until there is no rain in the forecast.  Though you should water in the product ½ inch within 7 days of applying.

    Q
Does the Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide product have an expiration date?
Would the product be less potent if not used for 12 months or more?
    A

Andersons 0.48 Barricade Herbicide has a shelf life of 2 to 3 years as long as you store it in a cool, dry place.  The biggest thing is that you need to make sure no moisture gets to the product while in storage.  Otherwise, it can remain effective for years.  Most people store it in a large Tupperware or 5-gallon bucket with a lid after opening it.

    Q
Is The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide ok for gravel driveways ?
    A

The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide can be applied in gravel areas, you would just need to use more water to ensure the product travels past the gravel on to the soil. If you do not use more water (it will not dilute it, just help it travel) you will get limited to no results

We also recommended testing a small area first to make sure it does not stain the gravel if that is a concern

    Q
Will The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide harm a flower bed planted with tulips?
    A

Andersons 0.48 Barricade Herbicide is not labeled to be used around tulips ornamental bulbs. We would recommend Snapshot 2.5 TG Granules for pre-emergent control around flowering plants and ornamentals. Applications should be made 2-4 weeks before weed emergence for best results.

Snapshot 2.5 TG Granules can also be applied following bulb emergence but before flowering after flowring. For fall planting bulbs, applications should be made in late winter and early spring.
