The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Barricade 65 WDG is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-.55 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.
Barricade can be mixed with any 2, 4-D product so long as a surfactant is used in the mix. You will want to thoroughly mix the Barricade in the tank first and then add the surfactant and 2, 4-D.
You must read the product label to determine how much you need as the rate per acre depends on what you are treating, what type of grass that you have, and what area of the country you are in. Typically, you apply between 1 and 1.5 lbs of product per acre. You should mix the required amount of Barricade (0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft) in to at least .5 gal of water. In this case, the water only acts like a carrier so the actual amount of water you use to apply the product does not matter very much and you could use .5 to 2 or 3 gallons and you will have pretty much the same result. After Barricade has been applied, it must be watered in with at least 1/2 inch of water (rain or irrigation is fine).
Barricade 65WG would be an excellent pre-emergent product choice to treat dallisgrass(Paspalum). Please check with your local Master Gardener for application times by following the link below.

You would want to keep kids and pets out of the area while treating. Once Barricade 65 WDG Herbicide has completely dried, it is safe for both to return.
A couple inches of rain after application of Barricade 65 WDG Herbicide will be helpfu in activating and promoting the product to better soak into the soil to create the pre-emergent barrier.
