    Q
How long does it take Bifen IT to kill fleas?
I sprayed yesterday and my dogs are covered again and I too get covered when I walk outside.
    A

Bifen IT is not a contact kill product, it is a residual product that can take a few day to start killing the fleas or other insects that you are treating for.  You need to give the product time to do what its designed for.  If the infestation of fleas is extensive then you may treat again after 7-14 days.  It is recommened to treat your dog, as well as treat the inside of your home.  Continue to clean, wash and vaccum daily till the infestation is under control. Please take a few moments to review our Flea Treatment Guide for more information.

    Q
Will Bifen IT not only control but kill ticks in my yard and if so how long will it take to kill ticks?
    A
Bifen IT is labeled to eradicate ticks. How long it takes the ticks to die after they come into contact with a treated area will depend on a number of factors. It will depend on the maturity of the tick as well as how long they stayed on the treated area, how long it has been since the area was treated and the concentration that was used to treat the area. Typically it can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a day or so for them to die. It can take several weeks for you to stop seeing ticks indoors because the ticks like to stay hidden which also means they could be staying out of treated areas and eggs may hatch out prolonging the infestation. We recommend doing follow up treatments every two weeks at the highest usage rate of 1 oz of product per gallon of water until you do not see any ticks. It is also recommended to add an insect growth regulator such as Archer IGR to impede the reproductive cycle of the insect. For more information on treating ticks, please check out our article on Tick Control.

    Q
How much Bifen I/T do i put in a gallon of water for outside fire ants?
last year we had a bad heat wave here in texas in which we we're limit to water restrictions here...so killing my grass bringing nickle size ant mounds all over my front yard (only)
    A
According to the Bifen IT product label: Fire Ant control is optimized by combining broadcast applications that will control foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens with mound drenches that will control existing colonies. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate before application or use a high volume of water for the application. Apply broadcast treatments at 0.5 to 1 fluid oz. per 1,000 square feet. You can dilute the recommended amount of Bifen IT in 1-5 gallons of water. Use enough water to penetrate thatch or sod. Treat mounds by applying 1 oz Bifen IT Professional per mound in 1 to 2 gallons water by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat 3 feet out around the mound. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12”. It is recommended that you use a broom handle to poke down through the center of the mound to allow the solution to penetrate. For best results, apply in cool weather (65 - 80˚F) or in early morning or late evening hours

    Q
What is the best spray for grasshoppers?
I want to spray a Large area with a 15 gallon sprayer to get rid of the million grasshoppers. do not want to harm the yard or flowers. what should i use?
    A
Bifen IT would be a good choice for grasshopper control. You should start applications before the grasshoppers have a chance to hatch for best control. You should thoroughly spray your lawn and water in the application with about a .25 in of water to help the product get past the thatch layer and into the soil where grass hoppers actually develop. If you already have grasshoppers you can use Bifen at the highest usage rate of 1 oz of product per 1 gallon of water for the quickest knockdown. Use sufficient amounts of water to help the product get to the soil layers. Once the Bifen has dried it will be completely safe for pets and children to resume their normal activity in the areas that have been treated. The Bifen is safe to be used on anything non-edible in the yard and will not harm trees, bushes or flowers.

    Q
Can Bifen IT be used with a thermal fogger?
If so, would you mix the same concentration in oil as you recommend with water? I prefer a thermal fogger because I have a 5 acre property and need to infiltrate the deep woods all around me.
    A
Bifen IT is not permitted to use in a ULV or a thermal fogger.  Bifen IT is only permitted to be used in a hand pump or gas powdered sprayer with larger droplets.  Bifen IT can clog foggers. Only oil based fog solutions are usually advised to be used in a thermal fogger.  Our recommendation would by Pyrocide 100, which is a fogging solution that is great for mosquitoes and flying insects. Most fogging solutions do not leave a long residual and should be re-applied for optimum results.

    Q
How much Bifen I/T do I mix with water to kill fire ants?
    A

Per the Bifen I/T Product Label:

Imported Fire Ants: The best control will be achieved by using broadcast treatments in combination with mound drenches. This will control present colonies along with foraging workers and newly mated flyin queens. It is critical either to use high volume treatments or to irrigate prior to application if the soil is dry. Apply 1 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet when using broadcast treatments. For mound drenches, dilute 1 teaspoon of Bifen I/T per gallon of water and use 1 to 2 gallons of finished dilution using sufficient force to penetrate the top and allow dilution to flood ant channels. Treat a four-foot diameter around each ant mound. Application should be made in late evening or early morning when it is cooler (65

    Q
Could Bifen IT be applied on rose bushes?
    A

Yes, Bifen IT can be applied to any bushes, shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas as well as flowering plants like roses.  However, you should minimize the spray on the actual flowering rose as you do not want it to get on any bees that help with pollination.

    Q
Will Bifen IT kill my herbs and tomato plants?
I'm worried about the affects on my pets and veggies. Also, when do I apply the spray? Morning, dewy periods, dry evening? I read the MSDS and insert, but I'm still concerned. Thanks
    A
Bifen IT will not kill your tomato plants or your vegetables.  However, Bifen IT is not labeled to treat edible plants and should not be used on or near where it could come into contact with your garden. We do carry Acephate 75 SP which is labeled for many vegetables in a garden.

    Q
Does Bifen IT kill Carpenter Bees?
I have a log home and use Bifen IT for everything else and love it. However when looking at your label I don't see Carpenter Bees listed. I see bees listed and I'm assuming that it includes Carpenter Bees. Thanks in advance.
    A

Yes, Bifen IT will help control carpenter bees when it is applied to surfaces where the carpenter bees land.  We also recommend dusting the carpenter bee holes with an insecticide dust such as Tempo Dust to help kill any larva inside. Do not plug the holes for at least 30 days after dusting to prevent the developing larva from drilling a new hole to exit.
