  • Asked by Chris from Pinehurst Nc
    03/26/2021
    Q
What time of day is best to use Bifen in a backpack blower sprayer?
I have heard that certain times of day are much better than others for mosquito control when applying bison with a backpack blower. Is there a better time of day than another?
    A

We would not recommend using Bifen XTS at temperatures over 85 degrees as this is an oil based product and can burn plants it comes into contact with under extreme heat. We recommend spraying in early morning or late evening.

Should I use Bifen XTS or a Bifen granule for fire ant beds?
    A
Both Bifen XTS and Bifen Granules contain the same active ingredient and will provide the same type of control for you. We recommend that you read over the Bifen XTS product label and the Bifen Granules product label and see which application seems more convenient to you.

  • Asked by Casey
    03/18/2013
    Q
Do you have to water in the Biffen XTS to treat for chinch bugs?
    A

    According to the manufacturer:

To maximize efficacy against subsurface pests, apply Bifen XTS with a non-ionic surfactant in enough water to ensure the spray penetrates to soil-thatch matrix. Irrigate treated areas with 0.25 to 0.5 inches of water immediately following application taking special care to prevent run-off or puddling.

  • Asked by Tim from Omaha, Ne
    06/17/2013
    Q
I have a spider mite(I think) and springtail problem that is getting out of control. Would this work for both?
The mites are red and kind of hard. Not like clover mites that just squish and leave a red mark. I have tried a handful of pesticides from my local store and it looks like the mites are getting worse(hundreds)....I can see when they are laying eggs on my siding..... please help. Also, springtails are everywhere....this is getting out of control.
    A
First, we recommend contacting Your Local Cooperative Extension Office to positively identify what type of mite. after positive identification we can properly recommend a successful game plan to treat this pest. Also, please check out our article "How to Get Rid of Bird Mites in the Home".  We also have an article for silverfish control titled "Silverfish Pest Control".

    Q
We need a control for winter moth caterpillar on fruit trees. We are located in Massachusetts.
    A
We do not recommend applying Bifen XTS to edibles. For treating fruit trees for moth caterpillars, we would recommend applying Bonide Fruit Tree Spray. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application times for the fruits on your trees. Please let us know if you need anything else.

  • Asked by Gus from Lagrange, Ga
    07/21/2015
    Q
Is Bifen XTS my best bet to eliminate chinch bugs?
I was going by active ingredient % and noticed that this product had considerable more than Talstar P.
    A

Talstar P, Bifen IT or Bifen XTS are all great bifenthrin products that are labeled for eradicating chinch bugs. As long as they are applied according to the label, they will be effective for control. Bifen XTS has a larger percentage but is diluted differently than Talstar P or Bifen IT (both water based concentrates).

  • Asked by Barbara from Fayetteville, Nc

    Q
I just purchased Bifen XTS -1 quart -They told me at the lawn & garden I could use this inside house
As well as outside just make sure it dries where sprayed. Is this true?
    A

We apologize but you have been misinformed. Bifen XTS is not labeled for indoor use for general pest control. We do carry Bifen IT which contains the same active ingredient as the Bifen XTS but is a water based formula and can be used inside as directed on the label.

  • Asked by Dave from Raleigh, Nc
    06/16/2016
    Q
How do I use Bifen XTS with a Chapin Slide-N-Spray hose end sprayer to kill chiggers in my lawn?
Since the Chapin sprayer has a 6 gallon capacity should I add 6 oz of bifen and then fill the sprayer to the 6 gal mark with water before attaching to the hose? Should I water the lawn after applying?
    A

No, you will add .32 fl. oz of Bifen XTS per gallon of water. For six gallons, you will use 1.92 fl. oz. of product, fill the reservoir up to 6 with water if the product does not reach that point, attach the hose end sprayer to the hose, set the dial to six and then turn it on and spray. This will treat 6000 square feet.

You do not need to water your lawn after applying this product.
