    Q
How late in the year can I spread Casoron 4G Herbicide to be effective?
    A

Casoron 4G Herbicide is a pre-emergent herbicide that would control weeds before they emerge from the ground by forming an herbicidal vapor barrier in the upper layer of the soil when activated by rainfall or irrigation. We recommend that it should be applied before weed seed germination and emergence from the soil (usually from mid-winter to early spring).

    Q
Our church has a gravel parking lot in AZ. What pre emergent can we use to prevent tumbleweeds from coming?
    A
Casoron Herbicide will be a good choice to control Russian thistle (aka tumbleweed). Treating gravel lots can be tough because it is hard to contact the soil and the soil is usually very dry. To help get the Casoron granules to the soil you must heavily irrigate the area after the application. Casoron is a mild soil sterilant, so it is very important not to put it in areas where it will contact desirable plants or in areas where you will soon want to grow new plants.

  • Asked by Fran from Leavenworth, Wa
    10/19/2013
    Q
Can Casoron 4G Herbicide be used around established roses and ornamental grass
    A
Casoron 4G Herbicide would work great around the roses. We would not recommend to use it around ornamental grasses, because it could cause injury. Casoron 4G Herbicide works by causing "tissue damage" to the roots. Since, grasses are rooted shallow, this product could stunt the ornamental grass growth.

  • Asked by Janie from Port Ludlow, Wa
    09/26/2014
    Q
We have a large yard. Is there a weed control product (Caseron) that lasts a year?
If so, which month is best to apply? The Caseron does not last an entire year. I know you need to put it down before the weeds begin to grow again, but I'm hoping we don't have to apply it twice a year. It sure helps prevent weeds growing; which saves on Roundup usage. Thank you for answering the question and any advice you might have.
    A
Unfortunately there is not a weed control like Casoron that will provide you year long prevention from weeds growing, the only products that provide year long control are bareground herbicides such as Pramitol. Casoron is labeled to give season long control, but you will need to reapply because it does not have and post emergent qualities. Dimension 2EW gives pre and post emergent control for labeled weeds.

    Q
How long do we wait after an application of Casorol 4G Herbicide to let our dogs outside?
    It has rained
    A

Per the product label on Casoron 4G Herbicide it requires it to be watered in after application to incorporate granules into the soil. So the rain would not hurt the appliation. You would just need to let the application dry completely before allowing your dogs back into the area.

  • Asked by Bob from Portland, Oregon

    Q
Can I use Casoron 4G Herbicide on my raspberry plants after I have weeded them?
Just wondering if I will still get new raspberry sprouts after I used Casoron to control weeds in my raspberries.
    A

You can use Casoron 4G Herbicide granules around estblished raspberry plants. Per the product label, "For control of annual weeds...Use only on established plantings and do not apply more than 100 pounds per acre. Do not apply during new shoot emergence. Thoroughly incorporate granules into the surface through watering-in." So you would apply either before or after new shoot emergence of your raspberry plants.

Will your product diclobenil kill bamboo?
My neighbors bamboo is growing under my fence and I want to get rid of it, however I have plants growing along my fence line, will I have to dig my plants up or can I dig down around the plants to put this diclobenil in the ground. HELP What do you recommend? HELP HELP HELP
    A
Dichlobenil, the active ingredient in Casoron 4G Herbicide, is not labeled for bamboo and may not be an effective solution for your needs. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff for further advice. Bamboo can be VERY difficult to eliminate but the master gardener may have some helpful tips for you.

the 25lb bag of Casoron on your site is 109$; Home Depot carries lillymiller Casoron 8lb bag for 25$. 3 bags from HomeDepot = 75$ for 24lbs. what is the difference between the Home Depot Casoron and your listed Casoron for the extra 30$ ?

We apologize but we do not carry the version that Home Depot carries since all we carry are professional grade products, therefore we cannot accurately compare the two products for you. You are more than welcome to contact the manufacturer of the Casoron 4G we carry to see if they can tell you the difference between the products. You can reach Chemtura at 203.573.2000.

  • Asked by Dawn from Gig Harbor, Wa

    Q
I spread Casoron 30 days ago. My puppy mouths grass and weeds. Is it safe?
Casoron was spread on our vacation lot at Ocean Shores, WA 30 days ago as a prevention for new weeds. There are random weeds and grasses that had already emerged all over the lot. My 7 month old Golden Retriever puppy mouths everything. He will pull weeds and shake them, pull at branches of woody shrubs, and sometimes eat long grasses in the treated area and nearby areas. Is it safe for him to be in this area. Package says no livestock grazing for 12 months??
    A
Casoron 4G should not harm pets when used as directed. You are right, this product is not to be used in grazing areas. Since you said that your puppy eats the grass, we recommend contacting Chemtura 800-423-8569. The manufacturer will be able to give you more specific advise on their product.

  • Asked by Keith from Redmond, Oregon
    10/24/2017
    Q
Is Casoron 4G Herbicide appropriate for early winter application in areas planted with bulbs?
    A

Casoron 4G Herbicide is not labeled to be used around bulb plantings, so we would not recommend this application. Gallery 75 DF can be used around ornamental bulb plantings 2-4 weeks after planting but prior to emergence of annual weeds. Per the product label: Gallery also may be applied following bulb emergence but prior to flowering and after flowering. For fall planted bulbs, apply Gallery 75 DF in late winter or early spring to weed-free soil surfaces. For bulbs, make a single applcation wtithin 30 days following planting and prior to bulb emergence.

    Q
    Dichlobenil
can this be used to treat sewer lines to get rid of roots?
    A
No, Casoron 4G Herbicide is not labeled to be used in sewer or septic lines to kill root systems and advises against that use on the product label. However, we do have Hi Yield Root Killer that is labeled for that type of application and use. Hi-Yield Root Killer dissolves the roots that are intruding into the pipes without harming those trees and shrubs outside of the lines. This product will not corrode sewer or drain pipes that connect to septic tanks and will not kill the necessary bacteria needed for septic systems to function. Please read and follow all label driections.
