Is it safe to leave Cimexa dust on top of the mattress encasement but under the sheets?

  • Asked by Randall from Thomasville, Nc
    07/29/2018
    Q
Two questions, first one. Should I dust the whole home even though I have only found bedbugs in the living roo
Living room, and I shot some dust into a electrical box behind a switch plate. Should I try to vacuum out the dust?
    A

When treating for bed bugs, it is important to treat thoroughly the rooms where you have found evidence of bed bugs. We also recommend using residual spray and dust on the other sides of walls in adjacent rooms. You could potentially use CimeXa Dust under baseboards and behind outlet and switch plate covers in other rooms, too, for general pest prevention since this is a non-selective insecticide. You do not need to try to remove dust unless there is excess dust out in the open; dust in the open can be wiped up using a damp paper towel.

  • Asked by Sally from Taylor

    Q
Will Cimexa hurt my 5 lb Maltese dog if she licks it?
    A

CimeXa Insecticide Dust is safe if pets are not present during the application when used as directed on the product label.  It is best to keep pets out until the dust settles before they return to the treated areas.  Typically you would apply in areas where pets are not going to have access to it, such as cracks and crevices or brushed down into carpets.

    Q
What is the ratio of water per ounce of CimeXa Insecticide Dust if I want to put in a spray bottle? Is the spray just as effective?
What is the ratio of water per ounce of CimeXa Insecticide Dust if I want to put in a spray bottle?
    A

Cimexa Dust can be used effectively as either a liquid or dry form. For the liquid form, you will mix 1 lb. of product with 1 gallon of clean water. This will treat approximately 1000 square feet. Approximately 1 qt of solution will treat 250 square feet. The dry form will likely give you more coverage than the liquid form will. You should still only apply Cimexa Dust as a crack and crevice treatment as directed on the product label.

    Q
Film on hardwood floor after using CimeXa Insecticide Dust
The dusts plumes were quite large and covered my whole living room after treating my rugs. If I mop my hardwood floors shortly after putting poduct down is it like erasing all the work I did/effectiveness to kill fleas?
    A

If you were to mop an area where Cimexa was just applied, then you would be mopping up the product as well. Cimexa will not be as effective in the areas where you mop. Please be sure to review the product label for complete application instructions, it should only be applied to cracks and crevices around hard floor rooms, not the entire surface.. Also, please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Fleas Guide for more information and helpful tips on eradicating this pest.

  • Asked by David
    10/26/2022
    Q
Can CimeXa Insecticide Dust be applied before replacing carpet in my apartment where I believe bedbugs are hiding? Should an insecticide be used also?
I'm having a bedbug problem in my new apartment. I'm going to pull up the old flooring and carpets and replace with new laminate flooring. I think the bed bugs are living under the carpet. Can I spray cimexa or otherwise treat with insectiside after I pull up the old flooring and before I put down the new ones
    A

Once the old carpet has been removed, we would suggest treating with an insecticide like Temprid FX along the baseboards and also once the Temprid FX application has dried, applying Cimexa Dust to the wall voids using a bellow hand duster. Dusting in wall voids is an important part of any bed bug treatment program to treat further into the cracks and crevices where bed bugs hide and migrate from room to room. Dusting allows you to treat beyond where the Temprid FX can reach. Click HERE to view our How to Apply Cimexa Dust Video.

If mixing Cimexa with water for spray solution to treat the flooring before replacing the carpets, the application would need to be completely dried to where there is only a white powdered residue left behind.

For active bedbug infestations, repeat treatments of Temprid FX and CImexa Dust would be required every 7-10 days until you can go 30 days without seeing any signs of bed bugs or without getting bit. Please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs Guide for more information.
