Cy-Kick CS Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Cy-Kick CS is a great product for ticks based on our customer feedback.  Cy-Kick CS will usually last between 30 to 60 days before you need to treat again.  However, if you have a bad infestation with ticks you should apply every two weeks for best results.  You should also replace your pets bedding and make sure they have flea/tick baths and flea/tick medicine applied properly to help minimize new infestations.  Please read the Cy-Kick CS product label for specific treating instructions on ticks, which is located underneath the picture on our product page. 

Cy-Kick CS could be applied for mosquitoes.  However, because it is microencapsulated it would not have a very quick kill initially because the microcaps slowly release insecticide over time. This product has a long residual, but not a good first punch.  Our most popular product for mosquito control actually combines a good quick knock down with a long residual, and it is called Talstar P.

No, there should be no issues to birds by applying Cy-Kick CS around the perimeter of your home.  When our products are mixed correctly, even though they are professional strength, they are only strong enough to kill the small insects the product is intended for.  Remember that pest control professionals use this product every day around thousands of homes across the country and if it was a danger to birds, the EPA would have never approved it.

There are several products that would do an awesome job controlling scorpions. Cy-Kick CS is a favorite among professional pest control operators. Cy-Kick CS is a micro-encapsulated product. This means that the particles of the active ingredient are contained in tiny mico-capsules, the insect walks onto the treated surface and picks up the capsules on their bodies and then the micro capsules slowly dry out and crack and the active ingredient oozes out on the insect. These micro capsules make the Cy-Kick last for up to 90 days and also make it safer to use around pets, like nosy dogs that can lick or chew treated surfaces. The dog needs to be out of the area while you make the application and can return as soon as it is dry. Be sure to spray in the areas where scorpions actually harbor, rock beds, garden areas, bricks walls, under landscaping timbers and also spray around the perimeter of your home.

Cy-Kick CS and Talstar are both great products and are both very popular choices on our website.  Other than them both being different active ingredients and killing insects in different ways, they are both very effective and can be used indoors and outdoors and they are both very safe.  We would say that the main difference is that Cy-Kick CS is microencapsulated which means it will hold up a little better outdoors in UV light, probably about 3-4 weeks longer than Talstar.  Either one would be a good choice and really just depends on personal preference. 

Cy Kick CS is a water based product and should not cause damage to any surface that water would not damage.

Yes, Cy-Kick CS will kill just about any spider that it is sprayed. Spiders are very difficult to control however and most residual insecticides like Cy Kick CS will kill any spider that it is physically sprayed on, but new spiders entering the area are very difficult for any insecticide to control.  This is because spiders bodies are high off of the ground and they do not groom their legs like other insects do. How these products mainly control spiders is that they kill the spiders food that is around, all of the other bugs, and if there is no food around, then the spiders will not want to be in that area anymore. The main difference is that the Cy-Kick CS is a microencapsulated suspension. Micro Encapsulation means that each droplet of insecticide is encased in a protective microscopic capsule, which provides a long residual even in direct sunlight. Micro cap also means the product can be more easily picked up by the tiny hairs on insects and especially flying insects.  So, while both the Bifen IT and the Cy-Kick CS are great products there are some instances where Cy-Kick CS is a bit more effective such as spider and scorpion control and on outdoor surfaces that are exposed to the elements.

Cy-Kick CS is not labeled for army worms, and it is not labeled to be used over the lawn. We recommend using Tengard SFR. Control of army worms will be improved if you cut the lawn prior to treating, lightly irrigate before applying the insecticide and treat in the evening. Large army worms are difficult to control, so it is likely that no matter what you use you will only get limited results. If the worms are very large (inch and a half long) soon go into the soil to pupate and control efforts may be a ineffective. Timing is important and a repeat application may be necessary in some situations.

We do not manufacture Cy-Kick CS, we are a retailer for the product. Insecticides are non-selective. This means that they can kill just about any insect that crosses over treated areas, including the beneficial insects. You can help minimize this, by only applying insecticides according to the product label, only in needed areas and only when necessary. Exciter and Kicker are pretty much the same product, they are just made by different manufacturers and contain pyrethrin as the active ingredient. Pyrethrin offers the fastest knockdown or kill of insects. Cy-Kick CS on the other hand will offer the longest residual; about one month outdoors and three months indoors. For the fastest punch and the longest residual, you can mix the Exciter and the Cy-Kick CS together as long as you follow the product labels.

Cy-Kick CS is a great product and will do a great job helping you to get rid of roaches. We recommend using a roach bait gel to help get rid of roaches in places where you cannot spray. We also recommend using an IGR (insect growth regulator) which helps stop the roaches breeding cycle while you are trying to get rid of the infestation. Take a look at our Roach Control Kit # 2. The Demand CS and Cy-Kick CS are very similar in performance for killing scorpions. Both products contain active ingredients that are synthetic pyrethroids and both products are micro-encapsulated. Cy-Kick CS is a bit more popular with customers that are trying to control scorpions.

No. You can only apply Cy-Kick CS on dry days. Applying on rainy days can cause the product to "run off" of the surface you sprayed and go into undesirable areas. For best results, it is best to have 24 hours before and 24 hours after the application with no rain. This will allow the product to stick to the surface that you have sprayed.

Unfortunately none of the insecticides are labeled to treat inside a gas fireplace for safety issues and inhalation if the residual was heated up by the fire.  However, Cy-Kick CS is one of our best and most popular products for scorpions, and since scorpions enter the home from outside, a good exterior treatment around your home and around the outside of the fireplace should prevent them from getting in or coming through that area.

As long as the cap has been kept on the bottle and the bottle has been kept out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight a bottle of Cy-Kick CS should last for about 3 years after it has been opened.

Cy-Kick CS is labeled for a contact kill only for fleas. According to the product label, Cy-Kick CS will not leave an effective residual for continued control of flea populations. We recommend using the products contained in our Outdoor Flea Kit for best results. This kit contains Onslaught which kill the biting adult fleas and Martins IGR which will help stop juvenile fleas from reaching a breeding cycle. 

The Bifen granules can be applied every 4 months and the Cy-Kick CS can be applied once per month for best results.

Cy-Kick CS, like most professional insecticides, should be applied at the rate of 1 gallon of solution per 1000 square feet.

Cy-Kick CS as well as any other products are not meant to be stored longer than 24 hours once mixed with water. Most sprayer manufacturers warn against storing insecticides inside the sprayer. Storing liquids (even plain water) inside the sprayer can cause the rubber components to deteriorate quickly and make the sprayer inoperable. Only mix exactly what you can use and discard any left over solution outside in the woods or in a place that is not near any bodies of water and thoroughly rinse the sprayer after each use.
