    Q
How long should I keep my dogs away from the yard after treating with Drive XLR8?
Crabgrass has taken over our yard and we need to do some serious control. I'm concerned because both of my dogs have a habit of eating grass. Can I still use the Drive XLR8 or should I use something else?
    A
You should keep your dogs off the treated area for 2-3 hours following the application. After the product has dried there should not be any issues with your dogs using the treated areas. We do recommend that you take the time to read the Drive XLR8 product label and MSDS before you pruchase the product as customers have different perceptions of what they feel is or is not safe for use on their property.

    Q
How soon to seed after using Drive XLR8?
I applied weed and feed to my lawn 3 weeks ago. I applied Drive XLR8 to my Bermuda lawn yesterday. How long should I wait to aerate and seed?
    A

There is no time restriction for seeding bermudagrass after applying Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer per the product label.  It can take 6 weeks to kill weeds so it would be recommended to wait that long to aerate so the weeds can absorb the product fully.

    Q
Why cannot Non-Ionic Surfactant be use with Drive XLR8?
    A

You could use any non-ionic surfactant with Drive XLR8 Herbicide, however the manufacturer recommends to use a methylated seed oil (MSO) surfactant for best results with this active ingredient. Prime Source Duo Stick is an MSO surfactant that would work well with this herbicide.

    Q
How much Drive XLR8 for a 40 gallon tank and Super B oil?
How many acres would this cover?
    A

In a 40 gallon tank you would add 64 oz of Drive XLR8 and 10 oz of methylated seed oil surfactant, and this should just about cover 1 acre. Keep in mind that it is most important to use the correct amount of product for the area you are treating, rather than an exact amount of water.

  • Asked by Danny from Amarillo, Texas
    06/17/2014
    Q
I have crabgrass. I am in the Texas panhandle and the temperature is in the 90's can I still apply Drive?
    A
When applying Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer you want to make sure the temp is not below 55 degrees and not above 80 degress.  You can try applying early in the morning or later in the evening when the temps could be below that for better results.  Weeds that are heat stressed during the day with not absorb the product well so you would not get good results.

  • Asked by Rj from Bartlett, Il
    04/17/2016
    Q
Is there risk to trees when using Drive XLR8? Can I use a backpack sprayer? Are rates the same for various weeds?
Since the critical quantity is the amount of Drive applied per square foot, not the dilution of the spray, is it absorbed through the roots? Since I am upon a forest preserve and have many trees and shrubs(ornamental and shade) in my yard, is there a real risk to these desirable plants? I am suffering with islands of clover, creeping charlie, and crabgrass as well as dandelions, is the rate of application the same? If I use a backpack sprayer I use for mosquito control, can I adequately clean it of XLR8 to use on foliage with mosquito spray or should I use a dedicated sprayer?
    A

Only when Drive XLR8 is being applied to established creeping bentgrass is the rate different than for other turfgrasses as listed on the product label.  Otherwise the rate is 1.45 fl oz/1000 sqft.  The product is absorbed by foliage and roots and is translocated throughout the plant.  It should not harm mature trees or desirable plants when used as directed.  Generally if you can it is best to use separate sprayers for herbicides and insecticides but if you use the same be sure to triple rinse the sprayer thoroughly have each application of such.

    A

Depending on the type of fescue you have, Drive XLR8 Herbicide can be used at the time of seeding.  If you are overseeding with fine fescue, it is recommended that you use Drive XLR8 at least 7 days before seeding or 28 days after emergence of the new seed. Please check the label for complete application instructions.

  • Asked by Mariska from West Chester, Pa
    08/26/2016
    Q
How soon can chickens graze on lawn that was treated with Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer?
My lawn company accidentally applied quinclorac to the part of our lawn that is dedicated to our free ranging chickens. Now I am afraid to let them out. Is there anything I can do to make that lawn safe for them again? How long do I need to wait?
    A

When using Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer the active ingredient quinclorac has dissipation values that can range from 60 to over 500 days. Because quinclorac does not bind well to soil, some dissipation noted in field testing could be due to chemical testing. The persistence hazard of qunclorac is rated high (likely to take over 60 days to degrade to half of the applied concentration). We would recommend waiting an entire season before any grazing took place on the area that was treated for this reason.
