  • Asked by Stephen from Lascassas, Tn
    07/12/2018
    Q
Can I use Fusilade II to remove crabgrass and bermuda growing in my tall fescue lawn?
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide can be safely used in a non residential tall fescue lawn to eliminate crabgrass and suppress and control bermudagrass. Keep in mind crabgrass control this time of year is particularly difficult and may require multiple applications, and bermuda will take multiple applications as well due to how well it spreads.  For a residential lawn, Gordons Ornamec 170 Grass Herbicide can be used to control Bermuda grass and crabgrass in fescue.  Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

  • Asked by Hector from San Jose, Ca
    02/03/2017
    Q
I used 4ml of Fusilade and 1oz of Kinetic Non-Ionic Surfactant to get rid of Bermuda grass, and my Kentucky blue/Fescue grass died 6 weeks after.
The grass died at first frost 6 weeks after application. 1000sq ft. Would the Fusilade or Kinetic make the lawn more susceptible to frost damage? The Bermudagrass died within 2 weeks.
    A

We are not aware of either product making grass more susceptible to frost damage, but Fusilade II Herbicide is a grass killer and is not labeled as safe to apply to Kentucky Bluegrass.  While it is labeled for removing bermudagrass, this is only in Tall Fescue and Zoysia Lawns.   It does state on the product label that it is not for use on home lawns as well.  We would recommend reseeding the area.

    Q
How to kill zoyzia grass in blue rug juniper garden
What should I use to kill the zoyzia grass in the blue rug garden without harming the plants?
    A
Fusilade II is a selective herbicide for application over flowers, bushes and ornamentals that kills grass and grassy weeds in your flower bed and ornamental planting areas.  You should mix a surfactant with it.  It typically takes 2 weeks to see results after application.  Please be sure to read over the product label.

  • Asked by Arnold from Morrow
    11/29/2015
    Q
Is the Fusilade II Herbicide safe to be used on dormant zoysia grass that was newly sodded in September?
    A

Depending on what you are trying to target the Fusilade II Herbicide is safe to be used on zoysia that is established whether it is actively growing or dormant. However, anything you may be trying to eliminate from the zoysia grass will likely not be affected by the Fusilade application if all of the plants are in a dormant state due to the time of year and ground temperatures. Fusilade is a post emergent herbicide and will only control grasses that are in a fully actively growing state. When you do apply the Fusilade, be sure to use a Non Ionic Surfactant for best results.

Per the Fusilade Product Label for use on Zoysiagrass:

Over-spray Zoysia: Application should be made at a rate of 3-4 fl oz/A with Fusilade II Turf and Ornamental Herbicide, and a nonionic surfactant. Applications should be made in late spring (around June 1) and repeated about every 28-30 days. Latesummer application can be reduced to 2-3 fl oz/A as bermudagrass is preparing for dormancy. During hot summer weather the rates could be increased to 4-5 fl oz/A. Note: The 5 fl oz rate could cause temporary turf discoloration.

    Q
Will Fusilade II Herbicide harm woody plants?
We need to kill torpedo grass, but have woody plants in the area. As such, will Fusilade harm Knockout roses, Crape Myrtle, or Camelia Japonica?
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide is safe to use over crepe myrtle, camelia, and many types of roses when used according to the product label. Be careful only to use a non-ionic surfactant and not a crop oil concentrate when applying Fusilade over the top of ornamentals.

  • Asked by Jim from Riverside, Ca
    06/28/2018
    Q
Is Fusilade II Herbicide safe on Kentucky Bluegrass?
I see from the description write up that this product may be used to control Bermuda grass within a fescue lawn. My question is: will this product harm Kentucky blue? I have a lawn that consists of approximately 50% Fescue and 50% KBG. Thanks for any advice.
    A

While it is labeled for removing Bermudagrass only in Tall Fescue and Zoysia lawns, we do not recommend using Fusilade II Herbicide on your Kentucky Bluegrass as it is a grass killer and it's not labeled safe for it.

  • Asked by John from Great Falls, Montana
    05/04/2016
    Q
How much Fusilade II to kill grassy weeds in bluegrass lawn?
I am trying to kill quackgrass and barnyard grass in a bluegrass lawn with a little fall fescue. Do I use the 6oz per acre? That seemed to be what they recommend on the label for use on a tall fescue lawn.
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide should not be used on desirable turf as a broadcast spray. You can do a spot treatment in your lawn only. The mixing ratio is 0.75 fl. oz. per gallon of water. It is also recommended that you use a surfactact, such as the Non-Ionic Surfactant. The mixing ratio for that is 1/2 fl oz.

    Q
Can Fusilade II be used in a centipede lawn to control Bermuda grass and torpedo grass and not harm centipede?
    A

Fusilade II is not labeled as safe to be used on Centipede lawns. While it is labeled to target torpedograss, it requires multiple applications at the highest labeled rates, and offers suppression of bermuda. Bonide Grass Beater Over the Top Grass Killer, however, is labeled for use on centipedegrass and will target bermuda and torpedograss as well as many other grass species.
