Product Overview

It is highly recommended to also use Advance 375A Ant Granular Bait which is a protein bait. You should always give ants a choice as they may be in the mood for either a protein (granule) or a sugar (gel) bait.

Ants and pest control professionals alike love Gourmet Ant Bait Gel with 6% DOT (Disodium octaborate tetrahydrate). Gourmet Ant Bait Gel uses a special insect attractant that mimics honeydew and enhances bait acceptance by a variety of Protein Feeding Ants, Sweet Feeding Ants, and roaches. Gourmet Ant Bait Gel is less repellent than other products and far more effective at eliminating both the workers and queens in active ant colonies. Use Gourmet Ant Bait Gel indoors in cracks and crevices to quickly eliminate foragers. Gourmet Ant Bait Gel is odorless, won't stain surfaces or leave a mess, and stays where it is placed without becoming runny in even the hottest of temperatures. This product is also extremely easy to use and highly economical.

Also Available: Green Way Liquid Ant Killing Bait

Gourmet Ant Bait Gel is odorless, won’t stain surfaces or leave a mess, and stays where it is placed without becoming runny in even the hottest of temperatures. This product is also extremely easy to use and highly economical.

How Gourmet Ant Bait Gel Works:

When strategically placed in areas of infestation or noticeable ant traffic, the sweet honeydew attractant in Gourmet Ant Bait Gel draws insects to forage. Once ingested, the active ingredient DOT begins its attack on the ant’s central nervous system. This attack is slow so that poisoned ants will return to their nests after consuming Gourmet Ant Bait Gel and will feed their young and the queen, passing along the DOT poisoning. When other food sources are removed, ants will continue feeding on Gourmet Ant Bait Gel until they die.

To Use Gourmet Ant Bait Gel:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly before handling bait to remove any odors that may be repellent to ants, i.e. tobacco, garlic, strong chemicals/ cleaners etc.
  2. Remove as many competing food sources as practical. Vacuum or sweep floors to remove crumbs, etc. Ants are attracted to and will feed on Gourmet Ant Bait Gel until they die.
  3. Repeat placement of the bait until satisfactory control has been achieved.
  4. Do not use sprays, foggers or any strong chemicals or cleaners near the bait containers or placements. This may contaminate the bait and cause the insects to cease feeding.

Indoor Treatment:

Use Gourmet Ant Bait Gel for the control of ants or German Cockroaches. Make long thin lines in areas where ants are a problem. Use 1-3 lines for each placement. Long thin lines allow room for many ants to feed on the bait at a single feeding. Place Gourmet Ant Bait Gel where ants are trailing or have been seen. Place Gourmet Ant Bait Gel under food cabinets, sinks, stoves, refrigerators, food storage areas, attics, garages, basements, storage areas, closets, etc. If you are not sure where the areas of highest forage are, you may use smaller pea-sized placements. Check these smaller placements every couple of days. The placements that are fed upon regularly will shrink or disappear, indicating that you should use a larger quantity of bait in these areas.

Outdoor Treatment: Place Gourmet Ant Bait Gel on exterior window-sills and in doorways to help prevent entry.

Bait Stations:

For long term control or for heavy infestations, Gourmet Ant Bait Gel may be used in Ant Café or other similar bait stations. Using a bait station allows for placement of a large amount of gel without having it dry out. To use Ant Café bait station; open the lid, add Gourmet Ant Bait Gel until station is at least half full, close lid and place according to directions for use.

    Fatal Attraction

    By Wh on 06/30/2010

    Verified Purchase

We started seeing little black ants in our kitchen--they weren't taking over the place, but they'd clearly found our countertops. We purchased some ant traps from the store, which the ants ignored. A lot of sources suggest a two-component approach to cover grease or sugar-feeding cycles. Since our problem was not severe, and GABG claims to cover both cycles, I decided to try a tube. DoMyOwnPestControl provided prompt delivery, and I applied as directed. It didn't take long at all for the little boogers to find it, and they fed on it for several days. Within a week--no more ants. I'm very pleased with the results of GABG, as well as the site and service of DMOPC.

    Ants very attracted to this!

    By L.l. on 06/09/2008

I ordered one tube of Gourmet Ant Bait Gel just to try it out and I can not believe how the ants are attracted to this! It almost worried me the first day, as it appeared to be increased activity but it was really just the attraction to the bait. I can't wait to stop using this stuff! Thanks!

    I was too impatient

    By Anonymous on 06/04/2013

    Verified Purchase

Previously on May 25th, I wrote that it was totally ineffective and gave it one star. WRONG! I was too impatient; it simply took a bit longer than I thought it 'should'. My 'sugar' ants are completely gone! Thanks.

This product really attracts the ants. It was a little scary at first because so many ants were attracted. However, within a few days they were all gone.

Q
What is a good way to clean the gel up after it has been applied?

How long should you wait before cleaning it up? A few days?

A

If the gel is still wet then you can clean it up using a damp paper towel.  If the gel has hardened, then a butter knife or something to scrape up most of it and then use a wet paper towel to get up the residual left on the surface.

Q
Why are the carpenter ants ignoring Gourmet Ant Bait Gel?

I just ordered two Gourmet Ant Bait Gel tubes from you, and the carpenter ants are completely ignoring it. Just 2-3 weeks ago, they would eat this bait as soon as I put it down. I got rid of them. I found some more carpenter ants in a different area, and now they wont eat this bait. What can I do?

A
Ants nutritional needs change frequently. This means that one day they may only forage for proteins, like Advance Carpenter ant bait granules and another day they may forage for carbohydrates like the Gourmet ant bait gel or liquid. We recommend leaving the gel in place and allow the ants to continue their natural foraging. We also recommend using Advance Carpenter ant bait granules in the same area where you placed the gel to allow the ants to select the bait that fits their needs.

Q
What type of ants does Gourmet Ant Bait Gel work on?

Have read there are more than 700 different types of ants in America, so don't expect a full listing, but which ants is this most effective on?

A
All ants need protein and sugar in addition to moisture to survive.  Gourmet ant bait gel is effective on any ant that is looking for a sugar and/or protein.  The ant that most gel baits do not work on is fire ants, because they pretty much are protein feeders only and typically do not trial inside house.  For all other ants though that may be getting into your house, gourmet ant bait gel should be attractive to them as long as they are looking for sugar and/or moisture.

Q
How do I apply Gourmet Ant Bait Gel?

I have the remainder of the Gourmet Ant Bait Gel I used awhile back and can't remember how to use it. The ants are on my kitchen counter. Do I apply it in ribbons in the cracks between the counter space and back splash? Also, I have 2 small dogs. Just keep it away from them, correct? Your prompt response is most appreciated.

A
Basically, you apply Gourmet Ant Bait Gel in small "dabs", pencil eraser sized pieces where you see ant activity.  You should keep the product away from pets and children.  One note:  The gel can become stale after awhile once it has been opened.  Usually it will only last about 6 months.  If you apply the remainder of this product and the ants do not seem to notice or take the product, then it might be too old and you will have to get a fresh tube.
