    Q
Will Nuvan ProStrips kill drywood termites?
If I put a bunch of Nuvan Stripes in my mobile home an close it up for 10 days will it take care of Drywood termites?
    A

Nuvan ProStrips is not labelled for drywood termites and would not be an effective method of treatment. Drywood Termite colonies are located in the wood they are eating, therefore we recommend directly treating the area with Termidor Foam or BoraCare. Please review our How to Treat for Drywood Termite Guide for step by step instructions on the most effective treatment.

  • Asked by Teresa from Cambridge City, In
    09/27/2018
    Q
If you put several Nuvan ProStrips into a 10x10 shed that has boxes and tubs in, will that be effective for bed bugs?
There are way too many boxes to put a strip in each one.
    A

Each Nuvan ProStrip treats 100-200 cu. ft. of space.  The clean, odorless vapor is evenly distributed throughout the enclosed treatment area, killing visible and hidden insects on contact and preventing new insect infestations. Nuvan Prostrips can only be used in small enclosed areas such as closets (no air vents can be present), cupboards, boxes, bags or small storage areas, that can be closed off for at least 2 weeks to kill anything inside.  If the boxes are taped closed or otherwise sealed, the vapor will not get into them, so these need to be opened so the contents can be exposed.

  • Asked by Catherine from Southfield, Mi

    Q
How many Nuvan ProStrips are needed for 56-quart plastic tub?
I see we can cut the strips down when doing the tub method for books. Approximately what fraction of a small strip would be sufficient to treat a 56-quart plastic bin?
    A

The manufacturer of the Nuvan ProStrips advises against cutting the strips. We recommend that you do not overly pack bags/containers/totes too full with belongings so that the vapors can work around the items effectively. You can use 1 full strip per tub.

    Q
Can I use Nuvan ProStrips to treat bedbugs on a sofa?
    A

Nuvan ProStrips must remain in a sealed, enclosed area for at least 2 weeks to be effective.  If the sofa is in this type of area, then the Nuvan strips could be used.  A  better option for furniture would be to use something like SteriFab.  You may want to look over our Bed Bug Treatment Guide for more information.

    Q
How do you use my Nuvan Prostrips for bed bugs?
What do you do with the item inside the tin foil? Do you have to place it in a bag or in room?
    A

Per the instructions on the product label:  Remove Nuvan Prostrips from the sealed bag when ready to use and place inside the included plastic cages, then hang in area or put in container/bag that needs to be treated.  Do not use in areas where people will be present for prolonged periods of time, such as in offices, bedrooms, or kitchens. Within homes, use only in closets, wardrobes, and cupboards.

After airing out the bags of food (tea and candy, new and sealed inside their packaging) is it ok to eat or should it be thrown away?

    Q
Can you put Nuvan ProStrips in your car?
Can you put these in your car and still occupy it with out any harm to you or your pets ?
    A

You would have to seal up the car and not use it for at least 2 weeks to be able to use the Nuvan ProStrips.  They would not be effective if you are constantly opening and closing the doors, and you cannot stay in the car while they are being left inside.

    Q
Can I use Nuvan ProStrips in my car?
    A

Technically, yes, if applied according to the label instructions, Nuvan ProStrips can be used in a car (with all windows and doors fully closed) without posing any risk to nearby cars or buildings. Nuvan strips must be kept in an enclosed space for a minimum of 2 weeks in order to be effective. You’ll use one strip per 100 to 200 cubic feet of enclosed area.  After the car has been closed up with the strips for a minimum of 2 weeks, you’ll want to let the car air our for a couple hours before occupying.

    Q
Can you use the Nuvan strips outside like on a lanai???
    A
The Nuvan ProStrips are intended to be used in an enclosed area since they basically release a vapor.  So outside they would not work as well because there is too much air to mix with.  Nuvan ProStrips work the best in a closet, or closed boxes or containers.

  • Asked by Leslie from Brooklyn, Ny

    Q
    Baby items and books
My baby's clothes, crib, changing table, books, high chairs, toys, and jewelry have been in a room treated with Nuvan Strips. Is it safe to use them or should I get rid of them? Also, how do I use books and papers after treatment?
    A
All of the items should be fine to use as the Nuvan Strips are designed to not harm or leave an odor in treated items, only to build up a vapor to kill the insects. Clothes and stuffed animals may want to be thrown in the washer or dryer just in case to make sure there are no lingering vapors or bugs on the items the baby would come into close contact with. Also, the Nuvan strips are not to be used in rooms, only confined no airflow areas such as storage containers and trash bags that the items are placed in. If you have any other questions on how the Nuvan may affect other items, please contact Amvac at 1-888-462-6822.

You can put the Nuvan strip in a box spring, however you want to make sure the box spring is not occupied. You want to leave the strip in the box spring sealed up for at least 1-2 weeks.

    Q
Are Nuvan ProStrips safe to use inside kitchen pantry with food inside?
    A
Nuvan ProStrips are not safe to use inside a pantry with food inside. Nuvan ProStrips release an odorless vapor. We recommend to get rid of any food that may be contaminated or show pest activity. Depending on what you are treating, Pantry Pest Kit may work for you.

    Q
Is it safe to keep my bagged clothes in my bedroom closet when using Nuvan ProStrips?
I put Nuvan into large garbage bags, then twisted and sealed with duct tape. This is my bagged dry cleaning clothing. Then I put the bags in my bedroom closet, though I do open the closet occasionally. Is this safe? I hear different opinions and am nervous. I hope it's ok; saving me thousands in dry cleaning if it is.
    A
Yes, as long as the bags themselves are not being opened during the treatment process, you can store the sealed bags in your closet with no problem. The only time you normally hear of people advising against this, is because you normally want as little clutter in a closet or closet floor as possible if treating for bed bugs so that way they have no folds to hide in other than where you have the chemical residuals left behind.

    Q
I've had a persistent pantry moth problem that appears to have moved out of the pantry and into other rooms.
Can I leave Nuvan strips throughout my condo for two weeks while I'm out of town? I have had the condo sprayed, bombed, traps set up for over a year and can't seem to get this problem resolved. I also don't live here full time. So it seems I make a little headway on it; leave and they return full force. I was thinking of leavingthe Nuvan strips out for two weeks with the place closed up to help with the problem. I also have pheromone traps in each room to help trap the moths. I have no idea where the food source is at this time. It could be in the walls, the vents, etc. The two exterminators I've used don't seem to want to follow up on this. Help!!
    A
We cannot recommend to apply Nuvan strips in an open area like the whole condo. There are too many areas the vapors could escape. Now if you wanted to seal up a closet and use them that would work great! Please review our Pantry Moth control page.  We recommend the Pantry Pest kit. We would recommend to add Cykick CS. Cy-Kick Residual Aerosol with a crevice tool (straw) for spraying in cracks and crevices around shelves and walls to kill pantry pest larvae and harborage areas. All contaminated food should be removed prior to treatment. Use products as directed on their corresponding labels. Be sure that you are discarding of any food that may be left for the extended time you are away. The bombs do not work as well, because they only kill what comes in contact with it. The Cy kick will help to treat them in the larvae and pupae states hidden in cracks and crevices.
