    Q
Is Nyguard better or just more concentrated than Archer IGR? I see they have the same active ingredient.
Which, in your opinion is more a effective IGR?
    A
Archer Igr and Nyguard Igr are both very effective IGRs. The biggest differences between the two is the ability to hold up to sunlight outdoors. Archer is photostable for 14 days where as the NyGuard is photostable for 4-6 months. NyGuard also has a wider range of pests that are covered by its ability to sterilize and inhibit the reproductive cycles.

what is the mixing ratio in a 2 gal sprayer for fleas mainly(roaches, centipedes, spiders(black widow, cane spider) problem using Talstar P and Nyguard IGR? I dont understand the mixing instructions on Nyguard IGR. Please help.

If you want to mix up two gallons of Talstar/Nyguard you will need to add 2 fl oz of Talstar and 6ml of Nyguard in 2 gallons of water and you will need to spray this over a 2,000 sq ft area. Please note that Talstar cannot be broadcast sprayed over carpets and furniture indoors.

  • Asked by Kevin from United States

    Q
Is there a more cost efficient product other than Nyguard as an IGR?
It takes 15-20 gallons to treat around the farm every three (3) weeks. At .4 mL per gallon of water, it would take 60-80 mL. This would cost between $250.00-$350.00 just for the IGR.
    A
Nyguard would actually be your most cost efficient product as it only needs to be applied once every 5 months outdoors. It has the longest residual outdoors to sunlight and rain over all other IGR's which only hold up about 14 days.

    Q
I'm using Onslaught to control ticks. I'm thinking I should add an IGR. Is NyGuard IGR a good choice?
Onslaught's Technical Bulletin recommends NyGuard IGR for a tank mix IGR, but NyGuard's label doesn't list ticks.
    A
Nyguard IGR does indeed list ticks on the product and Nyguard IGR would be a great choice for tick control when mixed with Onslaught.

    Q
How long do we have to wait before entering house after NyGuard IGR application?
We just sprayed the inside of our house with nyguard and I was wondering how long do we have to wait before we can go inside? I have a 11 month old who is still crawling. Is there anything I need to do to make it safe for him?
    A

You can re enter after the NyGuard IGR treated area has dried. Normally about 2 hours. Like with most insecticides when applied per label it is safe for children and pets to be around after it dried.

    Q
How often can I spray Onslaught and Nyguard IGR together for bird mites?
I'm thinking about ordering Onslaught to combine with NyGuard for a bird mite infestation. I realize that NyGuard isn't approved for bird mites, but I've heard success from others with this problem. I'm wondering how often this combination be used? Also, I've already used the Precor IGR, and I'm worried about using another IGR on top of it. Thanks for your response.
    A
We have had several customers tell us that they have successfully used Onslaught and NyGuard together for bird mite control. Unfortunately because neither product is actually labeled for bird mites, we can not give you a definitive re-treatment time. We can say that both products do allow re-treatments after 14 days if you see renewed insect activity indoors.  There should be no problem using NyGuard IGR in a home where you have previously used Precor IGR.

    Q
Is NyGuard IGR safe to use in a vegetable garden?
It looks like that is where the fleas have made there home. If not, what can be used to treat the soil in an edible garden?
    A
Nyguard IGR is not labeled to be used on a edible vegetable garden.  However, we do have a product called Malathion 57% which is labeled for gardens and will treat fleas.

  • Asked by Brian from Oregon

    Q
Does Nyguard transfer to other insects through touch?
Would Nyguard make it from an ant outside the nest and transfer it inside the nest? Also, can Nyguard be tank mixed with Arilon? If so, at what rate?
    A
Yes the NyGuard IGR does transfer from insect to insect through touch and grooming habits so it would be carried back to the nest. NyGuard IGR, as well as all other IGRs, can be tank mixed with any insecticide to make application simpler and will not change the effects of either product. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Will washing my walls and cleaning my carpet nullify the effects of Nylar?
I applied Nylar to my carpet and the walls in my home a few weeks ago. It's supposed to be effective against fleas for 7 months. Does that mean I shouldn't wash my walls or clean my carpets for 7 months? Will washing and cleaning nullify the effects of Nylar and other insecticides?
    A
Yes, steam cleaning, washing or using any type of cleaning agent on a surface you have sprayed the product on will pull the product up and break the residual down. If treating for fleas, you should be spraying once every 2 weeks with an insecticide and IGR to control the population until its gone. In between sprays you should be vacuuming daily to help pull up any dead fleas, stimulate flea eggs to hatch and suck up an debris they leave behind. Once the flea infestation is gone you can wash the carpets and walls if you need to, but it will degrade the product on the surface.

  • Asked by Laurie from Whitfield County, Georgia

    Q
How do I mix and apply NyGuard IGR for flea and roach treatment?
How should I mix Nyguard to treat house (indoor and covered porch area) with flea AND American Cockroach problem? Can it be applied with a regular spray bottle?
    A

NyGuard IGR should be diluted with water and applied with a hand pump sprayer. For both fleas and cockroaches, it is recommend to use an adulticide (insecticide) along with the NyGuard: NyGuard will not kill existing adult insects; it will only affect immature stages. An insecticide like Onslaught Insecticide would be great to use with NyGuard for roaches and fleas. You would use 0.5 to 1.0 fl. oz. of Onslaught with 8 mL of NyGuard IGR per gallon of water and apply as a broadcast spray in areas with fleas, such as carpets. For roaches, treats cracks and crevices where these insects hide or are likely to travel. Please see our Treatment Guides for these pests for more tips and information:
