    Q
Is Precor IGR safe around dogs and cats?
I know you said Precor IGR is safe after it is dry. I have only hardwood floors in my house. Will it harm my dog who lays on them, even when it is dry?
    A
No, once the Precor IGR is dry there is no worries about harm to a pet that lays on the surface.  Remember that Precor IGR is not an insecticide; it does not kill the insect.  It is a product that prevents adult insects from reproducing and is more of a pheremone type chemical that "messes" up the life cycle process of an insect.  It is very safe around children and pets and this is why it so popular to use these products in schools, day cares, and dog kennels.

    Q
How long does is take Precor IGR Concentrate to dry after application?
I need to treat 2 bedrooms, living room, and kitchen. I don't have anyplace in the house to stay while waiting for the product to dry, so I've got to find someplace to go. The length of time it will take to dry will affect my choice of place to go.
    A
Typically most liquid applications take about 30 mintues to dry.  Specific times will vary based on temperature in the home and other factors.

    Q
Is it safe to apply Precor IGR to mattresses and box springs for flea control?
    A
You do not need to actually spray the mattress and boxspring with Precor for it to effect fleas that may be hidden there. If you spray around the area where the bed is located the fleas will still be effected because of the unique molecules of this product. You should also thoroughly vacuum the bed to remove as many fleas eggs and larva as possible.

    Q
I got Precor IGR on my skin. Is Precor IGR safe?
I read that methoprene (Precor IGR) is not toxic to humans. And it is found in some foods. I got this all over my body even in my hair and did not wash it off. What is the worse thing that could happen to me? Will I go bald and my skin sag?
    A
Methorprene (Precor IGR) is a very safe product that is non toxic to humans.  I'm sure you have showered off by now.  There should be no issues or worries with the product, it just needs to be washed off.

    Q
Baby fleas back 2 weeks after
I applied Precor mixed correctly in a pump sprayer and applied throughout my home. It's been about 2 weeks since the application and I've seen 2 very small fleas today. The pets are all on a prescription flea tablet which is administered monthly, and before we applied Precor we've bombed twice, and applied Ortho Home Defense Max 3x throughout our entire home and treated our yard with a spray treatment. We've been battling fleas for 3 months. Why after two weeks are we seeing a new batch after applying an IGR?
    A
Flea elimination indoors can take 2-8 weeks depending on the level of infestation. Indoor flea control will require you to use a mix of insecticides and also mechanical control methods. We recommend using at least 2 products to control fleas; an insecticide such as Onslaught Insecticide and an insect growth regulator such as Precor IGR. You can usually find an insecticide and an insect growth regulator together in a aerosol flea product. After 14 days, you should reapply the aerosol or liquid products to the carpets, rugs and pet's resting areas to control any newly emerging immature fleas. Severely infested areas may require a 3rd or even a 4th treatment in 14 day intervals.

    Q
Is IGR safe to use with diatomaceous earth, Permetherin, and if so, what it the recommendation (instructions)?
With so many products out there, it is overwhelming, particularly when trying to figure out what can be used together and how to use them together in a safe manner. Toxic chemicals (particularly carcinogens) are pretty scary. While I do not own a pet and have never had flea problems before, I found 4 the other day. First time and have no idea how they got there. Is IGR safe to use with diatomaceous earth, Permetherin, and if so, what it the recommendation (instructions)?
    A
You can safely mix Precor IGR with Permethrin and apply as a broadcast spray on carpets and under furniture. You can also use diatomaceous earth in areas listed on the product label in a home that has been sprayed with permethrin/Precor. Be sure to read and follow the product labels for best results. Also, vacuuming prior to the first treatment and every other day for 14 days following the flea treatment will help get rid of the fleas much faster than spraying alone.

    Q
When using Precor IGR, can I place cats in another room in the house until it's thoroughly dry?
Basically what I'm asking is can I do one room (closed) at a time but keep cats in another room SAFELY. of course, I wouldn't let them reenter a sprayed room for at least 4 hours and I would open windows in sprayed room to help it dry.
    A

Yes, removing the cats from the area treated with Precor IGR is a good practice. They can go into an area that has not been treated until the treated area dries completely. This generally takes 1-2 hours depending on how heavily you spray.

    Q
After Precor IGR has been sprayed on all my floors, should I need to clean my floors to remove any residue?
    A
If you mop the floors or steam clean the carpets where Precor has been applied you will be effectively removing any residual control you would have gotten from the application. We can tell you that fleas do not usually develop out in the open on hard floors so if Precor IGR was sprayed on hard flooring there should not be any issue with cleaning the area now.

    Q
Will Precor kill bed bugs and eggs on a bed mattress?
    A
Precor IGR is not labeled for bedbugs and may not be effective for this type of treatment. You should also note that Precor does not kill adult or juvenile insects of any kind. We recommend that you encase your mattress and boxspring with Protecta Bed encasements and you thoroughly and consistently treat the entire room with products that are labeled for bedbugs such as those contained in our bedbug kits.

    Q
Can you get or sell a higher percentage of methoprene (closer to the 8.8%) as in Frontline Plus?
The methoprene is only 1.2% in your product, and the methoprene in Frontline Plus is a whopping 8.8%.
    A
The formulations between structural/lawn insecticides vs. topical animal flea products are completely different. While the concentration in some flea products is quite high, the volume is quite low. There is no reason to use a higher concentration of IGR for insect control in the home. Manufacturers and universities have spent millions of dollars researching what concentration of methoprene works best in structures and yards to interrupt breeding cycles in certain insects. The concentration you see today is a direct result of that research. So the answer to your question is no, we cannot get a higher concentration than you have already found on our site. The only company that can get a higher concentration is the manufacturers that make the products.

    Q
Can I spray Precor IGR on my dog bed?
I'm going crazy with this fleas infestation. I'm going to try precor 2000 and I just need to know if is safe to spray the dog bed. I'm washing every day in hot water and drying for 30 + min also vacuum every day. Change the bed twice in 21 days. I'm so tired. Please help
    A

Yes, Precor IGR Concentrate can be sprayed on pet sleeping and bedding areas. This is just a growth regulator so it will not kill any fleas. It will simply stop their lifecycle.

Another option is to use Ultracide. It is very effective flea control aerosol that provides immediate kill of adult fleas and prevents formation of new adults from eggs or larvae. Ultracide dries quickly and will eliminate flea problems for up to seven months. This can be used on pet bedding and pet resting areas, as well as various areas where there is a flea infestation. This treatment will be done every 14 days until you no longer see activity. Make sure that you are still vacuuming daily as well.

    Q
Does the Precor IGR Concentrate work on roaches?
    A
The Precor IGR is only labeled to control fleas.  We recommend using an IGR such as Nyguard or Gentrol to help break the roach infestation cycle. We also recommend using a roach bait gel such as Advion Roach Bait Gel to help get rid of those roaches that harbor in areas where you cannot spray (cabinets, drawers, counters, around sinks)

    Q
My daughters home is crawling with fleas! She has bombed 2x to no avail. We need experienced help..
To tell us which product to purchase. The house is carpete, and fleas are in furniture. Precor was recommended but question is, which one for extreme flea infestation?
    A
Precor 2000 or Ultracide would be a good choice for indoor carpeted areas. Precor 2000 and Ultracide come ready to use, no mixing or equipment is needed and they contain both an insecticide for a quick knock down of biting adults and an insect growth regulator for control of developing flea eggs and larvae. Infested areas should be thoroughly vacuumed prior to product applications to help remove as much flea eggs, larvae and debris as possible and also to help stimulate larvae to change stages and come into contact with the product. You should continue to vacuum at least every other day for the next two weeks. Pets should be treated for fleas as well as the areas they spend a lot of time such as pet bed, kennels, carriers, couches, and moist shady areas where they spend time outside.
