Product Overview

Little Giant Automatic Egg Turner is an accessory built for still air incubators. This motorized egg turner is built to reduce egg handling and increase hatch yield. The eggs are gradually and gently turned in order to exercise the embryo during its development. This will work with the Little Giant Circulated Air or Still Air Incubator (Item Nos. 10300 and 9300, sold separately). This egg turner has 41 plastic cups that can hold up to 41 chicken eggs. Large eggs, duck and turkey eggs will not fit in this turner while smaller eggs will require a turner with smaller rails such as Little Giant Quail Rails (Item No. 6302, sold separately). No major assembly or tools required. Easy to operate and clean, dishwasher safe.

HOW TO USE:

  1. Choosing the proper location for your incubator. Install your incubator in a room that has a stable temperature. Avoid setting your incubator in drafty areas like near a window, in a garage or on a porch.
  2. Install and set up. Precisely follow the guidelines indicated on the manual.
  3. Incubator temperature. Before beginning a hatch, check the incubator temperature setting. The incubator is pre-set to 99.5°F. The temperature controller should come on with the humidity and current temperature displayed as soon as it is plugged in.Press and release the SET button to display the setting temperature. Press and release the SET button to display the current temperature or wait ten seconds and the current temperature will display automatically.
  4. Humidity control and ventilation. Use a turkey baster to add water. Lift the lid and slide it far enough to allow a baster to fit between the lid and base. Use numbers on side of incubator to identify each of the six water channel locations.
  5. Maintain sanitary conditions. Always wash hands with soap before before handling eggs. Avoid excess handling of eggs. Avoid breathing on eggs, particularly if you have a cold or are ill. Eggs should be held in a cool location between 50°F - 55°F until you are ready to incubate. Do not refrigerate.
  6. Mark and set the eggs. The turner on this incubator is built for small to medium eggs, do not put turkey or other large eggs in it. Do not overload the turner.
  7. Turning the eggs. Depending on what type of egg turner is being used. Refer to the manual for specific instructions.
  8. Test egg fertility. Testing is done by candling all eggs in the incubator. A candler can be can be made using a shoe box or can. Make a hole with a diameter of about 25% the size of the egg (about the size of a quarter) in the top of the box or can. Set the egg on this hole. Now place a strong light source (e.g., flashlight) under the box or can. Light will pass through the hole, into the egg, so that it is illuminated.
  9. Hatching eggs. When you have 3 days remaining until hatch, remove the second red vent plug from the top of the incubator to increase ventilation. Increase the humidity level, see STEP 4. This allows the chick to rotate freely while breaking the shell during hatching.
  10. Post hatch. When chicks are removed from the incubator, they must have a place that is warm and dry.
