Product Overview

CAL FLO Liquid Limestone is easy to use, non-hazardous, ideally when a rapid soil pH change is needed, such as in agricultural, turf, and land reclamation applications. It quickly adds calcium to the soil, and can improve pH by up to 1 point in as few as 10 days. Normally, 2 to 3 gallons per acre can adjust pH by at least 1/2 point, and 4 to 6 gallons will adjust it 1 point. CAL FLO Liquid Limestone needs little maintenance to do its work, is environmentally friendly and it leaves no dust residue from its application.

Please note:  This product is a suspension and not a solution, so agitation is required during mixing and during spraying, especially when using large capacity spray equipment.

INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION

CAL FLO Liquid Limestone is a specifically microsized suspension that maximizes the efficiency of limestone for pH adjustment. Course dry liming materials are unevenly spread over treated surfaces and difficult to handle. CAL FLO Liquid Limestone has no dust and provides an even particle distribution with the use of proper dispensing equipment. CAL FLO Liquid Limestone offers the finest calcium carbonate particulates available in suspended form. Ultra-fine limestone solids will react more rapidly to achieve the desired pH, when compared to the typical dry bagged limestone. CAL FLO Liquid Limestone can improve soil pH on contact for more nutrient absorption from coinciding fertilizer feed rates.

For a wide variety of soil treatments, 2 1/2 to 5 gallons per acre has proven to be the accepted application rate. Typically, a soil pH in the low 6 range will use 2 1/2 gallons per acre, while a pH below 6 may require 5 gallons per acre. Instant pH increases can be expected after a soil treatment and pH buffering should last for up to 3 months. CAL FLO Liquid Limestone enhances the pH of the soil germination zone to improve the quality of the planting. NOTE: For best results, regular soil testing is recommended.

NOTE FISH PONDS: For best results, water analysis should determine application rate. For treatment of fish ponds requiring pH adjustment or improved alkalinity. CAL FLO Liquid Limestone is designed to improve the pond environment and offer easy liquid application as well.

DIRECTIONS

Using commercial spray equipment, fill dilution tank half full with water and start agitation. Add the correct amount of CAL FLO Liquid Limestone and finish filling the mixing tank. Suggested dilution rate for general use is 30 gallons of water to one gallon of CAL FLO Liquid Limestone depending upon the type of equipment being used. CAL FLO Liquid Limestone is well suited for hydro seeders, greenhouse irrigation systems, and boom sprayers.

For home lawn and garden spray equipment, add one cup of CAL FLO Liquid Limestone to 2 gallons of water. Shake mixture in a hand-held tank or backpack tank before spraying.

A general application rate for diluted spray is one gallon to 600 square feet for instant pH adjustment. For prolonged pH maintenance reapply CAL FLO every 8 to 12 weeks.

Regular soil pH testing is recommended to determine the amount of lime and the application intervals. CAL FLO Liquid Limestone is specifically designed for complete neutralization of the following:

  • Nursery and container crops
  • Golf course fairways
  • Golf course greens and tees
  • Greenhouse crops
  • Sod farming and landscaping
  • Lawn and garden
  • Hydro seeders and pretreatment to seed sowing

Reapply CAL FLO Liquid Limestone as needed during the growing season. General pH maintenance is needed every 2 months based upon soil buffers.

For Fish Ponds, general application rates are 2 1/2 gallons per surface acre of water. If commercial spray equipment is used, add one gallon of CAL FLO to 30 gallons of water and project the dilution on to the water to be treated. If CAL FLO is applied from a boat, slowly pour CAL FLO from a moving boat, letting the motor serve as a mixer. NOTE: For best results, water analysis is recommended to accurately determine application rate.

    Cal flo liquid limestone

    By Jody on 10/08/2017

Easy to use spray. Kinda thick. We had no problem spraying this, using a 60 gallon boom sprayer with 7 spray nozzle. At first we fill the sprayer half full, pour half the liquid into a 5 gallon bucket, then used a drill with paint mixer to mix it, then added it to the boom sprayer. Finish filling it up with water. It sprayed fine. But the cal flo is not extremely thick as some has indicated, so next batch we fill the boom sprayer up with 1/4 full of water, then as I was pouring cal flo into sprayer, wife was using water hose with sprayer nozzle, spraying water into tank. This mix the cal flo as it enter the tank, and we finished filling the tank using the water hose nozzle on high pressure setting. Sprayed the fields. I order 11 containers of cal flo. My fields needed liming bad. It cost about 600.00, free shipping by freight truck. I put 2-2.5 gallons of cal flo to 60 gallons of water. Sprayed 5 gallons of mixture per acre. Just use the water hose to clean the sprayer, and sprayed the excess water out of the sprayer. Easy clean up. I also sprayed my yard and garden place. I had a hard time finding a place that would spread lime. It was either too wet, or they didn't have it. Been on waiting list 2 years. I read about this liquid cal flo, and now my fields have been lime. Now to see it do its job. Will test ph in a few weeks, as recommended. I bought enough to do my fields twice.

    We liked it

    By Themodernpredator on 05/24/2016

We used this in our Northstar 30 gal sprayer. It was easy to use and the instructions were clear. We could tell where we sprayed it after it dried because it turned the ground a light shade of white. Be careful how much you use each batch. According to our math, we needed 3 dilutions in 30 gallons of water to spray an entire 2.5 gallons. We didn't get the measurements exact and they last spray was a little tough. THIS IS VERY THICK! Our sprayer had a hard time getting started on our third spray. Make sure it is as mixed up as possible before you start your sprayer!

    Needs Agitation

    By Mpointer on 04/03/2017

Works great for me! Definitely cheaper and easier to go with this product than the traditional way. One thing is for sure, you need to agitate while you spray or spend some time mixing before you apply. Or, have an agitation system built into your sprayer to accomplish it. I have a 25 gallon, County Line sprayer. For my yard, I mixed 8 gallons (2 cups p/gallon) and I used my drill and a 15 inch stirrer bit to mix the solution in. About 1/5 of the Lime settled at the end of the spray application.

    great for quick results

    By Adison on 09/28/2016

This product works if you need quick adjustment for PH. However, if maintaining or subtle adjustment needed i would not recommend the spray route. This stuff is super thick and did require some work to clean out of my Earthway push sprayer.

How many pounds of pelletized lime are in 2.5 gallons of CAL FLO Liquid Limestone?
A

Each 2.5 gallon container of CAL FLO Liquid Limestone weighs 37 pounds. The product label states that 2849 pounds of CAL FLO is equivalent to 2000 pounds of dry liming material, or 10.4 dry pounds per gallon. That would make 2.5 gallons equal to 26 pounds of dry liming material.

Q
Can you please clarify the instructions of CAL FLO Liquid Limestone?

When spraying food plots to raise the ph the directions call for up to 5 gal per acre. Is that 5 gal of mixture or 5 gal of premixed product?

A

The CAL FLO Liquid Limestone instructions to apply 2 1/2-5 gallons per acre indicate undiluted product per acre.  Water is just the carrier so you will use however many gallons of water it takes to adequately irrigate that area.
