The Protecta EVO Express Bait Station do not come pre-baited. When a rodenticide is placed inside for baiting, rodents could potentially die in the wall voids causing odor/insects as they have access in and out of the stations. We are not aware of a product that kills rodents and completely removes the odor at the same time/prevent from decomposing rodents in wall voids. We do recommend sanitation and exclusion around the property/structure and baiting inside for indoor activity. Unfortunately, we do not carry a rodent bait station that we can guarantee squirrels would not also be able to possibly get in to as squirrels and rats can be very close in size. You would add bait to the Protecta EVO Express Bait Station, the rodents enter and consume the bait, but they are not trapped. They typically go back to their nest or another area before succumbing to the bait.
The Protecta EVO Express Bait Station provides a safe place for rodents to consume the bait, and will likely try to return to it's nest to die, but will likely not die inside the bait station itself. It is not recommended to use bait stations indoors, since after a rat consumes a lethal dose of the bait it is possible that the animal can get into an area that is inaccessible making removing the carcass impossible.
