    Great Product

    By C on 03/25/2012

    Verified Purchase

Recently used this product in our weedy lawn. To date I have only found one small spot where nutsedge is still growing. Plan to respray that spot. Very pleased with ease of use, thoroughness of product, price point, free shipping and customer service of DoMyOwnPestControl. I'm sure I will make additional purchases of various products as needed from this site.

    SedgeHammer Herbicide

    By Joanne on 08/30/2012

    Verified Purchase

I used both Roundup and the Sedgehammer, twice. The sedge is getting brown, but not falling over dead. I have not pulled it out of the ground as yet, due to the heat in Memphis, TN and also do not want the seeds to scatter.

    67% effective

    By Stephen on 05/21/2013

    Verified Purchase

With first application, after 10 days it seems about 1/3 nutsedge is dead, 1/3 is lighter green to yellow and 1/3 unaffected. I'll try one more round in two weeks to see if I get better results before switching to another sedge killer.

    Sedgehammer Herbicide

    By Earl on 09/20/2014

    Verified Purchase

Overall, I'm very pleased with Sedgehammer. I had a pretty heavy infestation of sedgegrass in my tall fescue lawn, and the SH killed about 75% of it on the first application. I still have a little bit of the sedgegrass but will be doing the second application today, so hopefully the rest of this nasty stuff will be history soon.

    SedgeHammer Review

    By Bob on 08/13/2015

The herbicide SedgeHammer worked well. It was easy to mix the powder with water and spray on the sedge plant. Within 10 days the plants were yellow and dying.

    Sedgehmer works!

    By Anne on 09/12/2015

The nut sedge started to turn yellow within a few days. It certainly has stopped growing. I'll have to wait a bit longer to make sure it is really dead. SedgeHammer is the only thing that works on nut sedge!

    Nutsedge spray.

    By Jeff on 08/16/2019

I had nutsedge take over20% of my backyard this summer. I read about this because I did not want to spray noxious chemicals on my lawn. This product needs to be sprayed when dry conditions are prevalent. I sprayed the nutsedge on hot dry day and it killed most of it. Touch up is required though as the nutsedge shows up at areas close to where I sprayed. It took several weeks but it definitely killed it. Nutsedge doesn't like shade, at least on my lawn. But, it is pervasive. I will spray the remaining patches when ever it dries out again. Good luck.

    Works as Advertised

    By David on 08/16/2016

I mixed the entire contents of the 1.33 oz. bottle with 40 gallons of water and 1 1/2 pints (about 0.5 vol. %) of non-ionic surfactant in my PTO-drive tank sprayer. My sprayer dispenses about 55 gallons per acre so I had enough solution to cover just less than an acre. My nutsedge is in patches so it was sort of a "seek and destroy" mission. After about ten days, the nutsedge started turning brown in the tops and after about 3 weeks it appears to be dead. Four starts instead of five because I've yet to see how much of it comes back next year.

    By Billy on 08/16/2016

This is the second application. The first application get rid of all the sedgenut in the front yard and about half in the back yard. The second application got rid of all in back yard and i spot sprayed front yard. I realize this is not a one and done product, but it is helping me get the sedgenut under control. I like it.

    still waiting

    By Richard on 08/17/2016

have put on two applications of the small packages, each mixed in one gallon container, one week intervals. poured mixture into 1/2 pint squeeze bottle, each dosage directly onto about ten plants. refilled many times(15- 17) came back to the sight and found a few either new or ones I missed. Waiting the forth week to decide. Was impressed with the short delivery - 2 days USPS. not bad for no delivery charge - thanks.

So far, it looks like it's working.

    By Michael on 09/29/2016

I sprayed about 1 week ago. The nutsedge is now yellowing. Fall/winter will hit soon, so I will know if the Nutsedge is dead in the spring/summer. But so far, so good.

    Sedgehammer

    By Bill on 02/08/2017

I have Daylily beds around our home and there was one that was being covered in Nut grass. I tried several things, which included round-up, but without success. I didn't think there was anything that would kill the nut grass until I purchased a package of Sedgehammer. I thought that it was not going to work either. It took about 3 weeks before I began to see the grass start to turn brown and dry up. It does not hurt the daylilies if the spray gets on them. There were places that I had missed, so I ordered two more packages, however, the weather has not yet permitted me to spray the grass that I missed. I would recommend this for spraying nut grass.

    Weeds and them Damn Weeds

    By Larry on 08/31/2017

Well living in Georgia, received product in 2 days followed instruction and applied by donning heavy duty rubber gloves covered by brown garden gloves, soaked hand in bucket of solution then rubbed hand on leaflets of weed. This method was used because weeds are in junipers bed. It's been about a week since application, have not noticed any browning or dying back, staying positive. Will update.

    sedgehammer herbicide

    By Carol on 09/21/2018

I applied Sedgehammer 2 weeks ago to the affected part of my lawn and 1 variety of the sedge is beginning to yellow. This is encouraging because nothing else has been effective. I will probably put down another application when it is safe. I am in zone 10a and the weeds in St Augustine are almost impossible to control.

    Nutsedge Removal Feedback

    By Dan on 07/15/2019

Easy to use. After 3 weeks this product has done a fairly decent job removing nutsedge from my emerald zoysia lawn. It did not harm my grass in summer heat. Much better success with Sedgehammer than my past marginally successful attempts using Image.

Controls purple nutsedge; probably doesn't eradicate it

    By Mr on 07/17/2019

I've been using SedgeHammer for more than 10 years in a largely unsuccessful effort to eradicate purple nutsedge from my tall fescue lawn. The nutsedge begins emerging in my lawn the last week of May or first week of June. It continues to emerge through the month of August and into early September. I usually apply the SedgeHammer herbicide to each plant using a spray bottle, and I thoroughly wet all leaves from top to bottom. Within a week's time the nutsedge leaves begin to turn yellow, and within a few weeks the plant will brown out and disappear
