    Q
I have a hand held spreader settings show 1-5. What would be the recommended setting?
    A

We don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting to apply Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules is as follows:

If you need to use 1.15 lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft, then you would add 1.15 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high

    Q
Will sevin gradually kill earnings. I have thousands and thousands of them under everything I pick up outside
The earwigs hide undereverything. I have nevercseen so many in all my life. I hope the seven granuals will work to kill them
    A
You can use Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules to treat for earwigs. Keep in mind that earwigs thrive in areas that have a lot of moisture, so if you have heavy items outdoors that trap moisture in the soil or create pockets of moist soil, then you want to keep those items up off the ground and look for other ways to improve drainage in those areas. We have more information about this pest on our Earwig Control Page here.

How are Sevin Granules against oriental cockroaches?
    under porch and in garage
    A
Sevin granules is not labeled for cockroaches and the product cannot be used indoors in a garage because it has to be watered into be activated. Cyper WP would be a better choice for you. This product is a powder that you mix with water and then apply using a handpump sprayer. Cyper WP can be used under and on your porch and in and around your garage to control roaches.

  • Asked by Dave from Manchester Nh
    06/11/2013
    Q
I spread seven on my lawn last evening, its rained throughout the night will this wash out the effect?
It may take days to dry, Its been 12 hrs. Is it safe for my dogs if wet?
    A
If the product has been washed away it should be safe for the pets to re-enter the area but try to keep them off the lawn as long as possible til it at least dries some. Keep an eye out for puddles that the dogs could potentially drink from in the yard and keep them away from those until gone. If you have any other worries, contact the manufacturer as they will better be able to tell you the side effects if any that the pets would incur. GardenTech:1-866-945-5033

  • Asked by Marla from Tallahassee, Florida
    11/26/2013
    Q
Does the lawn need to be dry?
    A
Watering the Sevin granules in is what activates the granules. If it is going to rain close to the time you are applying the granules that will be fine too. Failure to water in the granules can lead to treatment failure because the chemical cannot be released from the granule and will not be available to the pests.

  • Asked by Chad from Valley Falls

    Q
I have a Scott's Deluxe Edgeguard, what is the setting for this spreader for ticks?
    A

Sevin Insecticide Granules label does not list the Scott's Deluxe Edgeguard. It would be best to map out 1000 sq feet and then add the amount of product needed for you are treating for. Set the Spreader on the 2nd to lowest setting. If you still have product left over at the end of 1000sq feet up the setting. If not then adjust the setting lower.
