    Q
Can Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide be used on Palms?
My palms suffered a very hard winter. Just finding out that copper fungicide should have been applied back in Feb, but missed it. It's now early June, would it be harmful to apply now or would it still give them a kickstart? Some green is showing but doesn't seem to be growing more.
    A

Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide can be used to on Windmill Palms. Mix with water and apply as a cover spray. Apply 4 -6 teaspoons per gallon, beginning when disease is expected or first symptoms appear. Repeat every 7 to 10 days as needed to control disease. Use higher rates and shorter intervals during periods of frequent rain or when severe disease conditions are present. For aiding in winter protection, apply just prior to anticipated frost conditions. Please refer to product label, for directions.

    Q
Can Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide be used on roses?
Hello the label states on this website that this product is safe to use on roses yet a reply states it is not safe to use on roses. Confused! My original question is can it be used as a drench? In other words, mix to desired dilution in a bucket and poor on the ground at the base of the rose plant?
    A

We apologize for  any confusion.  While Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide does state on the product label that it can be used on roses, there is a side note that discoloration of foilage and/or blooms has been noted on some varieties.  You would not be able to drench the soil around the rose bush as it needs to be applied directly the foilage itself to be effective.

  • Asked by Tom from Blountstown, Fl

    Q
What time of year do you spray pear trees for the spotted leaves using Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide?
    A

Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide is best applied to prevent diseases. This is usually on new growth before heat and humidity favor disease development. It should not be used in temperatures over 85 degrees. We usually recommend to spray early in the morning or in the evening when the temperatures are usually cooler. Spraying in the heat of the day will cause the foliage to burn.

  • Asked by J. from Minneapolis Mn

    Q
Can Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide be used in the fall to prevent Septoria Leaf Spot from returning in the spring on my Black Eyed Susans?
I realized prevention is best -- but it's too late now. I've already thinned the plants which may have been part of the problem.
    A

Liquid Copper Fungicide can be used to treat Septoria Leaf Spot but ideally should also be applied at the first sign of the disease. Applying in the fall would not 100% prevent it in the spring.

Unfortunately, once the disease has established, it is difficult to control. Encouraging air movement to reduce leaf wetness, removing infected leaves, even if just a few, will help, and then a general purpose garden fungicide may also help reduce the spread of the disease. These are preventative fungicide treatments and will not cure the disease but will help keep it from spreading.

  • Asked by Ari from Tampa, Fl
    12/31/2018
    Q
After setting the dial to 2 oz/gallon (and attaching the hose), how long do I spray the grass using Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide?
Approximately 200-300 sq. ft. of grass is affected.
    A

Southern AG Liquid Copper Fungicide is labeled for use on turfgrass to control algae at a rate of 1 pint per 1000 sq ft in at least 5 gallons of water. So to treat 200 square feet, you would use 3.2 oz of concentrate in at least 1 gallon of water. The best way to do this at a setting of 2 oz per gallon of water would be to put 3.2 oz of concentrate in your hose-end sprayer reservoir and then apply the product evenly over the area until you are out of product.
