effective, but difficult to use.
By Michael on 06/07/2016
Controlling moles is difficult. Talpirid bait was very effective in controlling moles once I got the bait placed correctly. The problem with the bait is the application method. A better description of how to apply the bait is needed along with a description of the equipment to be used in the application.

Talpirid Bait works
By Joe on 09/12/2017
I have been plagued with mole for years. I have spent the equivalent of a short vacation trying to rid my lawn of moles. Well now I can save money because I have found something that works. The areas where the moles were are now mole free. I can't say enough about Talpirid.

It Eliminates Them
By Leo on 09/22/2017
I've had a major problem with moles this summer and used an entire container of so called mole killer containing zinc phosphide with no effect. So I then bought Talpirid. I consider it to be pricy, but it works; the moles are no longer causing me problems. I'd buy it again without a second thought.

Mole killer
By John on 11/17/2017
To date, after two applications, talpirid worms appear to be working. Mole tunnels are a nuisance and have been multiplying while I reviewed options and cost. Need a couple more weeks to better determine value. So far I am happy.

So far, so good!
By Ron on 05/04/2018
It's only been a couple of weeks but this looks to be a big success. The key is to bait an active tunnel. Put a small dime-sized hole in a tunnel exposing it to light. If the mole quickly seals the hole in a few hours, bait that tunnel! Be patient. It takes a couple of days for them to die from the poison, and several more days to visually recognize any result but after two weeks the tunnels seem to be fading away.

Only 3 Words to Describe This Product
By Jim on 09/18/2020
THIS STUFF WORKS! Spent most of the summer trying to track and stab these underground pests like I used to when my eyesight was better. Hated to spend the money, but as I procrastinated, the moles continued their damage. I finally bit the bullet and bought a box of Talprid Mole Bait and so glad I did. This product comes in two sealed trays of ten "worms" per tray. I've only used one tray so far, and what I did was put on a pair of disposable gloves like used in a doctors office, and cut the "worms" in half. Had three moles tearing up my property, and following the instructions on the box, I put a half a worm in the various tunnels, and within a week, there was no more mole activity. From now on, I will always keep Talprid on hand.

Pricey, but effective!!
By Joe on 06/28/2024
Trying to get the most bang for my buck, I've been cutting them in half and they have been just as effective. One trick I have learned over the years is to wear latex gloves to keep your scent off of the baits. I also don't do the whole collapse a tunnel and wait to see if it pops back up. My approach is more of a carpet bombing of the whole yard placing baits about every 20 feet or so along all the tunnels.

Talpirid
By Sj on 07/16/2010
I use about a 3/8" dowel to find the tunnels a couple feet from the mounds, then insert the bait in the small hole I make and cover with a dirt clod. After a couple days there are no more new mounds. Our yard is up against a green belt for a creek so there are plenty of moles to treat each year but that isn't Talpirid's fault. It just makes an excellent test site! Gas bombs are a waste of time, traps are hard to set, and flushing with a garden hose only makes a mess. Getting rid of moles doesn't get any easier or efficient than Talpirid.

Great stuff!
By Bob on 05/10/2011
This is the 2nd year in a row using Talpirid to get rid of moles. I don't think you ever get rid of them for good (without a pet to hunt them down) but it works better than anything we've tried. After laying down the bait, the critters stopped digging holes in our yard. We had to reapply during the summer months, but it kept damage to a minimum. I will always keep it on hand.

Talpirid Bait didnt work for me

The Moles are Gone
By Forrest on 08/09/2011
This bait appears to also work well on moles. I'll explain what I do with this expensive but effective product. Order approximately 10 worms per mole. I have about an acre of grass over a 3 acre area. I used about 60 worms on what I estimated to be five moles (four and then one later populated an old run). As other reviews stated, cut the worms in thirds. The Talpirid site state “one feeding” so I'm guessing that 1 feeding might 1/3rd of a worm because this appears to work or it's finding and eating the other thirds too. Find a fresh mole mound. Use a ½” dowel or rod with a point to poke hole 6” to 12” away from the mound up to 2” – 8” deep until it suddenly gives during the poke (I actually use the rod of a gopher baiter because I have an orchard with gophers also). If you really have to lean on the rod, try a different spot. With time you will find the run mostly on the first try. When a run if found, leave the rod in the hole. Make the first cut of the worm in the middle of the smooth area of the worm. Then cut the longer section in half. Wearing gloves, use two pairs of long-nose pliers to cut and handle the worms and packaging. Carefully pull out the rod from the hole and drop a worm third into the hole. Pinch the top of the hole closed. Then poke around the opposite end of the mound (same distance) to see if you can find another run. If you can't find any obvious runs around the hole at all, poke into the center (sometimes at an angle) to see if you can feel a hole. Remove the dirt from the mound. Move to the next mound and repeat. In this way, there will be 1 to 2 worm-thirds around each mound. This procedure appears to work better than whole worms because it may increase the chance of the mole finding the worm while still delivering a lethal dose (if someone from Talpirid could commend on that I'd appreciate it). Most times I only need to treat once per mole, sometimes twice, and rarely three times. If a mound pops up a week or so later with no disturbances in between, then a mole has moved into your area. Poor mole. This product is easy to use, takes very little time, doesn't create a larger mess, and when moles decide to move into the area, the old bait might still be good and kill it before much damage is done. I've tried the exhaust from my car, the powers, the pepper powders, blood powders, and Talpirid traps. Nothing has worked except Talpirid worms. I just wish that they would try a lower price to see if the elasticity of the supply/demand curve resulted in higher profits!

Very Good
By Rudy on 08/27/2011
Talpirid Bait is an excellent product that controls moles in an easy and safe way. I just flattened the mounds, wait a day or two, and when a see a reappearance of the mounds, I make a hole of about 1/4 inch wide and 3-4 in deep, drop a worm and wait a few days. I repeat this procedure a couple of times if necessary and that's it.

Thanks Talpirid
By Frank on 08/29/2011
This year has been awful, I have dealt with moles in my vegetable garden, as have others, like never before. Thanks to Talpirid Bait, there are no more tunnels. One morning I found a dead mole on the surface near a tunnel opening. It was huge about the size of a small rabbit. I will continue to use this product as it is the only reliable means of contolling moles. I have tried the mole traps without ever nailing one.

Talprid Bait
By Vicki on 09/13/2011
We have spent close to $1,000 trying to get rid of our moles. So far NOTHING has worked, or we must have an army of moles in our yard. My husband is furious over the condition of our yard. I wish there was SOMEBODY we could hire to get rid of them. Is the guy from Caddy Shack available? Maybe he could bomb the heck out of our yard and that would kill them all.

Excellent product...if you follow the directions
By Mike on 04/02/2012
I have used Talpirid several times and for me, it seems to be the only product that works. The secret for the best results is to follow the directions, don't touch the product without rubber gloves, don't water the yard after using this product, etc. I make a grid of the application..times... places... and activity. There are cheaper products on the market, the only product that work for me is Talpirid. My friends did not want to spend the $2.00 per worm, they still have moles. I would rather spend more for a product that works than cheaper products that fail.

Not impressed with this product
By Paul on 07/23/2012
I used the product as recommended. I didn't have any luck. I have all the same mole runs. The worms attracted dirt to them since were are in a drought. Maybe since they didn't stay slimy as I put them in the runs had negative effect on usefulness? Not sure. I did buy the Talpirid trap and caught a mole within 24 hours.

Moles won't die!

Mixed Success
By Fred on 07/29/2012
I have been using Talpirid for three years, watched the video four or five times, read all the literature (hype) tried all their suggestions and it sort of works. Maybe my moles are smarter than me. It usually takes me two or three times to finally get them. In all fairness I have never successfully trapped one though. Used the older style trap where you destroy your own yard digging holes and even bought one of the new fancy ones, still no catches. It works best if they are running 4" or so deeper. When they are running just below the surface doing the most damage I don't know what to do.
