    Q
How long does it take for a Talstar P (Talstar One) formula to kill a nest of bees when applied for them to carry back to nest?
The orkin man applied this to my Eve's and roof because the nest is unreachable. I swear all he did was feed them. They seem very content coming and going. It has been applied for 24 hours now.
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) does not kill by transfer. Talstar P (Talstar One) will kill the bees after they contact the solution. This can take hours after contacting the treated area. It likley will not eliminate the entire nest. We would recommend a product like Delta Dust in which the adults will carry into the nest to the larvae.

    Q
Will Talstar P help get rid of or control lizards?
    A

We can't sale anything to kill lizards. We can recommend to treat the bugs they are preying on. Talstar P will kill the insects they are preying on and thus the lizards should go elsewhere for food.

    Q
Should I alternate Talstar One with another pesticide to prevent resistance?
I have used Talstar One plus Archer IGR on my yard for two summers to prevent mosquitoes and they've worked very well. I read that mosquitoes can develop resistance to bifethtin. Should I rotate with another pesticide, and if so, how often and which one do you recommend?
    A

Yes, rotating insecticides is a good idea to prevent resistance however this normally takes years to happen. Some customer rotate every year or when they start to notice the product may not be working as well as it did in the beginning. It would not hurt to use another active ingredient for your next treatment, a great alternative to Talstar is Suspend SC. Mix 1.5oz Suspend SC with 1 gallon of water along with the Archer IGR for Mosquito control

  • Asked by William from Villages Fl

    Q
Do I have to remove thatch prior to Talstar P application for chinch bugs on a St Augustine lawn in FL?
    A

Talstar P are one of the most effective chinch bug treatments on the market. Chinch bugs infest the base of grass plants and are often found in the thatch layer. Chinch bugs can be one of the most difficult pests to control in grasses and the higher applications rates will be required to control populations that contain both nymphs and adults during the summer. It may also be necessary to remove the thatch layer if it exceeds 1 inch in thickness to allow the Talstar to penetrate down to the soil.

If you have a few small spots the St. Augustine runners might fill it in this season (of course water, fertilizer, and lots of sunshine helps). If large portions of the lawn were damaged it will likely be late spring or later of next year before the lawn recovers. Very heavily damaged areas may need to be resodded.

  • Asked by Mark from Charleston, Sc

    Q
When to apply mole cricket control?
I believe I have an issue with mole crickets. There are smaller (about 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch wide) tunnels running through an area that is lower than the rest of the yard, and has lots of dead grass. I have been reading that one wants to apply a mole cricket treatment to kill the nymphs/younger mole crickets, but I'm not sure about timing. The weather in my area is in the south, and it varies a tremendous amount. 75 at the highest, and 40 or so at night. Any tips? What would you guys suggest? Should I use Talstar?
    A

Talstar would be a great product to use for mole crickets and gives complete instructions on the product label for timing on the different stages though you should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.

Could I feasibly use Talstar P inside of a couch infested with brown recluse?

  • Asked by Willie from Fort Worth, Tx
    07/01/2017
    Q
What granule or liquid can I use to get rid of lawn pests?
Such as sod grub worms, chinch bugs, mosquitoes in the grass? Fleas and ticks as well. You can't enjoy being outside. I have a lawn sprinkler system.
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) can be used for everything except grubs if you have those and not sod webworms.  For grubs you would need a product like Merit in granule or liquid form.  For mosquitoes the key is applying Talstar to the underside of leaves of trees and bushes.  For fleas and ticks as well as mosquitoes you can also add an insect growth regulator like Nyguard IGR.
