    Q
Do you have products for Pine beetles that are not liquids?
    A
Since pine borers are a type of bark beetle you must apply a product directly to the bark to control the beetles and these products are only available in liquid form. Unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a synthetic pyrethroid like Talstar. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.

    Q
Best product in high UV areas?
I live fairly close to Las Vegas, Nevada. Lots and lots of sunshine. I'm looking for a product that will provide the longest residual killing power considering the high UV here in the desert. Target pests are cockroaches, spiders, scorpions, and ants. I have ordered Talstar P for inside use, and Demon WP for outside, in the hopes that the Demon WP will have greater UV resistance and provide longer residual action.
    A
You picked the exact products we would have recommended for your use. Demon WP will hold up very well outdoors as wettable powders are considered very stable formulations. Of course the only downside to wettable powders is that they can leave a white powdery residue behind so we usually will recommend using a product such as Talstar indoors if the powdery residue in a concern.

    Q
I sprayed this on my Meyer Lemon 2 weeks before it bloomed. Do I need to remove fruit?
It didn't fruit until a couple weeks after spraying. I know this is not systemic and its not suppose to be absorbed into the plant so is there any harm in eating my lemons. I have since bought captian jacks with spinosad for this tree but Im wondering if I need to discard the fruit already on it.
    A
Talstar P is not labeled to be used on edible plants. The manufacturer does recommend that you discard any fruit from the tree for this growing season if the tree was sprayed with Talstar P.

    Q
Will bleaching the baseboards after spraying Talstar inside defeat the purpose of spraying?
I have a little one crawling around and would just feel better cleaning after it has dried.....my sister in law does it but i just didn't know if it would.still be effective
    A
If you wash down the areas where you have applied Talstar P you will remove the residual effect left behind by the product. Talstar P is a crack and crevice spray only so if you just want to clean up any drips that didn't actually get into the crack or crevice that would be fine and would not have any effect on the efficacy of the product.

Best long lasting product for spiders, ants, wasps, outside & inside house?
Looking for a concentrate to kill spiders, ants, wasps & any other household bugs that will last for a few months. Mostly outside spraying, but want to treat inside occasionally.
    A
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests.

    Q
Is Talstar safe around my orchids when I spray?
    A
Talstar P is safe for use on most plants. Having said that we still recommend you test the product on just one or two plants before using it on all of the plants to test for damage as some plants can be more sensitive than others.

    Q
Can I mix this with CyperWP for outside use around the house
Will mixing bifenthrin with the cypermethrin degrade eithers efficiency or activity?
    A
These products should not be mixed together. There is no valid reason to mix Cyper WP and Talstar P together.  Talstar P is a synthetic pyrethroid and Cyper WP already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.

    Q
How much Talstar P should you mix to spray in your lawn?
What is the recommended mixture for lawn pests, such as mole crickets??
    A
You will mix 1 fl. oz. of Talstar P (Talstar One) per gallon of water for general pest control. For mole crickets, applications should be made as late in the day as possible and should be watered in with at least 0.5 inches of water immediately after treatment. If the lawn is not moist before treatment, it is recommended that you irrigate the lawn to bring the mole crickets to the surface.  Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Should Talstar PL be used in an enclosed office with no windows, just air condition vents?
    A

When applying Talstar P, as long as the area has had time to dry, there should not be any concern. Rooms should remain vacant until the product has had time to dry. Talstar P is ok to use as crack and crevice treatment along baseboards, corners, storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, attics and eaves, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, furnaces, stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers and similar areas.

    Q
Do I open both caps and seals? Do I squeeze the container to get the solution to the measuring chamber?
    A
Yes, to utilize the Talstar P bottle, you will need to remove both caps and both seals below the caps if there are some there. (some products come with them, some don't) Once that process is finished, replace the cap over the larger portion of the bottle and then squeeze the bottle itself. This will cause the solution to run up the straw like tube on the side of the bottle and into the measuring reservoir for you to know exactly how much you need per gallon of water.

    Q
Is the residual harmful to humans?
If Talstar works by creating a residual that the bugs come in contact with and eventually die, won't that same residual, for example, if applied to a fence that my young kids touch, negatively affect them? Yes, I already understand that it is odorless and clear, but I was thinking about the residual and how it must also be absorbed by humans when they touch the same sprayed surfaces over the subsequent 3 month before reapplying.
    A
No, Talstar P (Talstar One) is not harmful to humans if they come in contact with it after it is dry. It will not affect children if they touch the fence because it is none irritating if it touches the skin. It is recommended for children to not be in the area until the product is completely dry. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
need to get rid of crickets in my home.
    tthey appear on occassion
    A
Talstar P is labeled for crickets and can be used inside and outside the home. Indoors as a crack and crevice treatment it provides a 90 day residual. When Talstar P is applied outdoors as a perimeter treatment or as a broadcast treatment, it will leave a 30 day residual. Talstar P is labeled for over 75 types of insects and is a great product for general pest control.

    Q
    Talstar for winter moths
I would like to spray my own property to deal with mainly winter moth but also Japanese beetles and aphids. Should a respirator be worn and is full body suit needed? Also, I am looking for suggestion on an affordable pump/sprayer setup. I'm sure the setups to get 80-100 feet up are way too expensive but maybe something to do 40-60 feet up using a 55 gallon drum.
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) is labeled for moths and beetles. It is not labeled for aphids.

We would recommend using Demand CS. It is labeled for moths, adult Japanese beetles and aphids. This can be sprayed on ornamental plants and across your lawn. Use 1.5 – 5 fl. oz (44-148 mL) / 100 gallons of water – May be applied at 7-day intervals if necessary. Use lower dilution rates for more frequent applications or limit to spot treatment. The addition of a spreader sticker may increase application to waxy foliage. It can also be used indoors as well. You will use 0.4 fl. oz. per gallon of water. You will spray along the baseboards and cracks and crevices.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
What is the best product for yellow jackets and hornets?
I saw my old pest company use Talstar on them but I didn't think that was the most effective product available
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) is a wonderful general pesticide. It is labeled to be used on yellow jackets and hornets. You will use 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Applications should be done at night when the pests are alight. Spray heavily in areas where they hide and breed. Apply again only if there is new insect activity. This would be an excellent residual product for the yellow jackets and hornets.

If you know where the nests are and can readily reach them, we would recommend using Wasp-X. This product can be used up to 15 feet away from the nest. This product will foam and cover the nest. It will provide a knockdown and fast kill of hornets and yellow jackets.

How to get rid of gnats in house
They are in kitchen and living room
    A
First, be sure to check any house plants for larvae. If you have nouse plants, be sure to let the soil dry up a bit. You can use 565 Plus to flush out any areas like cracks and crevices they could be breeding in. The Flyweb Flylight is also a key component to catching the ones fliying around.

    Q
Professional sprayed Talstar P in florida room along baseboards and windows.
I had a carpenter ant problem in my florida room ceiling. Pest control guy sprayed all along the windows and baseboard. Before he sprayed I told him I had an infant that would be crawling in that room. I was very nervous, but he said not to be concerned, once the product dries. He made me feel like a weirdo. I waited a good month before I let anyone enter the room. I wanted to shampoo the carpets, because I am sure his sprayer got spray on the edge of carpet/baseboard. I called a few companies and they said if I shampooed the carpets the product would be useless. So, I never did. I did however, wipe the baseboards and doors. As a worried parent, is my child safe? We have to walk through this room to get in our back yard. She has already been crawling on the floor and probably have put her hands in her mouth afterwards. After a little research of half lives, it seems talspar p lasts a long time. So I am worried that there was a residual on the carpet, she touched it, than put fingers in her mouth. Please, any info will be greatly appreciated.
    A
Talstar P is labeled to be pet and child safe once dry and one of our most popular general insecticides for inhome use. When Talstar P is applied as a crack and crevice treatment along baseboards, window frames and door entry points and had time enough time to dry, it will not pose any harm to human contact. This product is not labeled to be sprayed as a broadcast on carpeted areas inside the home, only applied as crack and crevice.  Talstar P does have a 90 day residual on the inside of the home, but if the areas where the product was applied has been wiped down with warm soapy water, the product has been removed and would not longer be effective.

    Q
Can Talstar be used to get rid of ticks inside my home? I have small brown ticks crawling up the wall.
Would I spray the entire carpet and let it dry?
    A
Talstar is labeled for ticks and can be applied to indoor cracks and crevices only. It should NOT be applied as an open broadcast on the floor surfaces. How long it takes the ticks to die after they come into contact with a treated area will depend on a number of factors. It will depend on the maturity of the tick as well as how long they stayed on the treated area, how long it has been since the area was treated and the concentration that was used to treat the area. Typically, it can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a day or so for them to die. It can take several weeks for you to stop seeing ticks indoors because the ticks like to stay hidden which also means they could be staying out of treated areas and eggs may hatch out prolonging the infestation. We recommend doing follow up treatments every two weeks at the highest usage rate of 1 oz Talstar of product per gallon of water until you do not see any ticks.
