Talstar P Professional Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Talstar P is safely used in homes with cats everyday. Be sure the cats are away from the area while Talstar P is being applied and they can return to the treated area after the application has dried. Please refer to the Talstar P product label for full usage instructions.

While the product will not hurt the carpet, Talstar P is not labeled to be broadcast sprayed over carpeted areas for carpet beetle control. Talstar P can only be used as a crack and crevice application indoors. For indoor carpet beetle control you may want to consider a product such as Nyguard Plus. This product contains an insecticide to kill the roaming adults and an insect growth regulator to stop the harder to kill immature beetles from reaching a reproductive state which in turn will break the cycle of infestation. As an added bonus this product also contains a deodorizer for carpet applications.

Talstar P (Talstar One) is a great product to use for mole crickets. Great news, Talstar will not cause any harm to grass. In fact Talstar is labeled to be used on trees, shrubs, lawns, and indoors cracks and crevices.

Yes, Talstar P can be used outdoors for kissing bugs, as well as various other pests as well. The mixing ratio is 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water.

The Talstar P and the Cyonara 9.7 are both great products and are very comparable for general pest control. Talstar P is very gentle on plants and is odorless. If you have a bedbug problem or need a faster knockdown Cyonara 9.7 would be a better choice. We apologize after re-reading your question, we have determined a better recommendation for you. You can use Talstar P as a broadcast treatment out in the yard and around your home to treat those tiny black ants.

Any temperature between 40F and 85F is just fine to apply Talstar P.

Talstar P (Talstar One) is not an instant kill for roaches so it will take time to eliminate them with the product and an IGR. The roaches also have to come in contact with the area that is treated with Talstar P. If you are not seeing success with this product and have been using it for a while, we would recommend using a product with a different active ingredient, such as Demand CS. Absolutely! NyGuard and Talstar can be mixed into the same gallon of water and sprayed for control of Fleas, Stored Product Pests, listed Roaches (German, Asian, and Brown-banded), Crickets, Litter Beetles, and Flying Insects.

Although Talstar P is not a systemic insecticide, we would not recommend spraying on fruit trees or around the root systems of fruit or other trees from which you plan to eat the vegetation. Yes. Keep Talstar P applications to cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room, door frames, window frames and other areas where you see stinkbugs emerging. Be sure pets are out of the area while you are applying Talstar P, and they can return as soon as the product is dry.

Talstar P will kill crickets. Apply Talstar P as a crack and crevice or spot spray to areas where pests hide, such as baseboards, corners, storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors and windows, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, furnaces, stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers and similar areas. Do not use as a space spray. Pay particular attention to cracks and crevices. We recommend treating the outside perimeter to help stop insect pests from coming indoors to start with. Apply Talstar P to a band of soil and vegetation 6 to 10 feet wide around and adjacent to the structure. Also, treat the foundation of the structure to a height of 2 to 3 feet.

Talstar is safe for people and pets to re enter the treated area after it has dried. They should not be in the area when the product is being applied.

You can mix Talstar P with an herbicide as long as there are no restrictions on the label for the other product that you are using. We recommend performing a small jar test for compatibility any time you are using two new products together for the first time. Be mindful that you are only applying your herbicide in the correct areas.

Both non-repellents and repellent insecticides will eventually eradicate the pests that the products are labeled for. Non-repellents allow more time for the insects to be able to take the product back to their colony and transfer the product among each other. "Repellent" insecticides, such as Talstar P, are not detected until the insect you're treating comes in contact with the product - it will give off a "tingling" sansation or so to the insect but by then it will be too late for the insect. Eventually both types of products will work as long as the right amount of product is being used. Talstar P is a great choice to someone beginning to do their own pest control. Talstar P can be used to help control cluster flies indoors and outdoors. If the cluster flies have already made their way indoors, they will be harder to control because they usually hide in a wall void or other inaccessible area and are only visible when the house warms up. If the cluster flies are in an attic or drop ceiling or other dark area, a fly light would do a great job controlling the population. Using small fly lights such as the Fly Web in the house would also help to catch the flies. Spray Talstar P directly on baseboards, window frames, door frames, and places where utilities (pipes, wires, cables) enter in to the building and any other crack, crevice or gap where insects can enter.

Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with (including ants, roaches and silverfish) and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests.

For mounding ants in the yard you may also want to consider using a bit such as Extinguish Plus. The bait will kill both the workers and other ants in the colony and sterilize the queens so the mounds won't keep moving and popping up in other places. (by using just a topical spray such as Talstar, only the ants that contact the treated areas are killed but the other ants that remain in the colony usually just move and make a new mound).

Talstar P would kill lightning bugs if they were to land on the treated surface and crawl across it.  Insecticides are not really selective in what they kill and Talstar is labeled for over 75 different pests and will kill just about anything.

For outdoor use the Talstar P will be safe for animals of all kinds once dry. For indoor use if you have pet birds, we recommend removing the birds from the home while you treat and for at least 4-6 hours to give plenty of time for the product to dry and air out. Birds are more sensitive to chemicals and smells so keeping them out of the treatment areas for longer than pets like dogs and cats is recommended. If you have any safety concerns regarding its use around your birds please take info on the product to your birds vet for consultation. 

Talstar is a great option for mosquito control and can be used in either a mist blower or a sprayer.
