    Q
Is Talstar P labeled to treat for pill bugs and grubs?
    A

Talstar P is labeled to be used for Pill Bugs but is not labeled to treat for grubs. Dylox 6.2 would be an excellent alternative when treating for grubs that are actively feeding. Please read the product label for application instructions.

    Q
How do you compare Bifen/Talstar P versus Tempo SC?
I am using to kill mosquitoes in the yard by backpack sprayer/mister and also applying along perimeter of home and area where ant hide. Are both equally effective or would one be superior in any way?
    A

Bifen IT and/or Talstar P and Tempo SC Ultra are very good products for mosquito control. The biggest difference between them is that they have two different active ingredients. They are both great insecticides and can be alternated so that there is no pest resistance built up.

  • Asked by Mark from Portland, Me
    07/15/2015
    Q
Will freezing Talstar P alter its effectiveness?
    A

Yes, any drastic change in temperature will definitely affect the residual and potency of Talstar P. We recommend storing in a dry cool environment with not much temperature change to get the longest life out of the product. Please read the label for storage information.

  • Asked by John from Pa
    07/19/2015
    Q
Since Talstar is a residual killer, what would you recommend for an instant knockdown?
I'm looking for something with instant knockdown on the same variety of pests Talstar can handle.
    A

To get a faster initial knockdown when applying Talstar you can add a synergist like ExciteR or Exponent to kill insects on contact during application or you can use either alone.  The residual of Talstar will be left behind, but once the synergist dries will be gone.

  • Asked by Michael from Athens, Illinois
    07/19/2015
    Q
Willl Talstar P (Talstar One) control and kill Bagworms in my pine trees?
Will this product kill bagworm infestation in my pine trees in july?
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) is a great product to use for Bagworms on Pine trees. In fact, it is our number on recommendation for Bag worms. Yes, Talstar will kill insects shortly after they come in contact with it. It is important to keep in mind that bagworms are very difficult to control with chemical methods once they have matured and formed their protective "bags." See our Bagworm Control Page for more details.

  • Asked by Anne from Grass Lake, Mi
    07/20/2015
    Q
What is the best time of day to apply Talstar for mosquito control?
Also, what range is needed to provide relief? We live in a heavily wooded area, and I would like to know how far into the "woods" we need to go.
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) should be applied in the morning or evening especially during the summer. You really just need to focus on the tree line. Spray the undersides of leaves on the trees and shrubs. Focus on debris piles like leaf piles, pinestraw and shaded moist areas. Please see our Mosquito Pest Guide for more information about treating for mosquitoes.

  • Asked by Jason from Campobello, Sc
    07/21/2015
    Q
Can I use Talstar P to spray for fleas indoors? If so, how do you apply indoors for use?
    A

We do not recommend treating the inside of the home with Talstar P for flea control. It is a crack and crevice application indoors only. Fleas will be on the majority portion of the flooring and furniture. We recommendt that you treat with the products in our Indoor Flea Kit. Please take a few minutes to read our How to Get Rid of Fleas Article for more helpful information on eradication inside.

  • Asked by John from Pa
    07/24/2015
    Q
What measures do you take to ensure shelf life of Talstar P?
A question was asked about shelf life of Talstar. The answer was 3-5 years in good conditions. What inventory controls do you use to make sure the products that are shipped are not expired or close to expiring? Do you have a standard age of product that you won't ship to consumers?
    A

Talstar P is one of the most popular products that we carry and is always in stock. We make sure that the new product we receive and ship out is always the most recent. We do a constant stock rotation to insure we only have fresh stock on our shelf.

  • Asked by Frank from Vero Beach, Florida

    Q
What is good for camel spiders in central Colorado?
I am looking for a spray to do the perimeter and possibly the baseboards for camel spiders. I live in Florida but do property management in CO. Hopefully something cheaper then Termidor.
    A

Camel spiders certainly look scary but are basically harmless. You can treat the exterior and interior of structures if needed with a product such as Talstar P. Talstar works well for spiders, scorpions and other invading pests. We usually would not recommend Termidor for spider control as it is a very slow acting insecticide.

    Q
Does Talstar P work for scorpions?
    A

Talstar P will treat scorpions and do a great job eliminating their food source so that they will leave the area for better hunting grounds. You want to mix at a rate of 1 oz to one gallon of water.  Please see our Scorpion Control Page for more information about treating for this pest.

  • Asked by Rick from Rogers, Arkansas
    08/06/2015
    Q
Can my cat chew on grass after being treated with Talstar P by lawn service?
    A

Please keep your pets out of the Talstar P treated area until dried. After the product is diluted there is only a small enough amount of active ingredient to harm small insects. If your cat were to nibble on a small area no harm should be posed. You may also want to consider having the service not treat where your cat may be nibbling.

  • Asked by Cheryl from Frederick, Md
    08/08/2015
    Q
Would over saturation of Talstar P kill my flowers?
    A

Over-spraying of Talstar P (Talstar One) should not harm most flowers. It is always best to apply in the cooler times of the day. You should also avoid spraying the flowers directly to have the least impact on beneficial pollinators in the area.

  • Asked by Omar from Miami, Fl
    08/10/2015
    Q
Would mixing Talstar P with Tengard work for longer lasting residual and knockdown?
    A

MIxing Tengard with Talstar will not make it last any longer and is not actually recommended.  Mixing 2 insecticides together can contaminate an area making it highly repellent where insects will avoid it and neither can do their job of killing the insects.  If you want a faster knockdown product, you can add something like Exciter.  If you want a longer residual you should use something like Suspend Polyzone which can last up to 90 days on outside surfaces.

    Q
What is good for treating against Box Elder bugs?
    A

Talstar P does work for  boxelder bugs. Talstar P does not have an immediate knockdown effect but it does leave a long lasting residual. We do encourage our customers to apply Talstar P once a month through the stinkbug/boxelder bug season (August-November).

  • Asked by Rose from Wilmington
    08/29/2015
    Q
Can you use Talstar P then follow up using raid roach spray?
How long will it take to get rid of all these roaches my house is beyond infested with roaches they are in my microwave, stove in the table cracks ever where!!!!
    A

We would not recommend applying a product on top of the treated areas with Talstar P. It offers a residual control and takes time for eradication. Raid is more of a contact spray. We recommend that you take a few moments to read our article on eliminating roaches for more helpful tips. We also carry professional Roach Control Kits are effective in treating this insect.

  • Asked by Karen from Lavergne, Tn

    Q
My puppy likes to pull out grass by the mouthful, then chew on it. Is Talstar P (Talstar One) safe for this?
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) after dilution is only strong enough to kill small insects. Your puppy would have to eat loads of treated grass for Talstar it to harm it. Be sure to keep the puppy out of the treated area until dried.

Should I wear a mask when spraying Talstar?
    A

According to the Talstar P product label "all pesticide handlers must wear a respiratory protection device when working in a non-ventilated space." • Asked by Kyle from Texas
    09/04/2015
    Q
What is the dilution rate for Talstar P when treating for chinch bugs? How often should this treatment be done?
It is obviously for St Augustine lawn. I am trying to find the retreatment interval allowed per label but am not seeing it. Would you be able to let me know? Historically, I have found it necessary to treat these tough bugs twice.
    A

When treating for chinch bugs with Talstar P, it is recommended that you do a second treatment 21-30 days after the first treatment. You will use 1 fl. oz. of Talstar P per gallon of water. This will treat 1000 square feet. Be sure to water the product in at least 0.5 inches after it has been applied.

Will Talstar kill grain mites and is it toxic to cattle if it gets in their feed?
    A

Talstar is not labeled to treat for grain mites. It would be best to discard if the feed and get new feed. We are not aware of a product that can safely be applied to grains that are intended for feeding purposes.
