Termidor FOAM - Questions & Answers

You want to keep children and pets away when you are applying Termidor Foam.  Once you are finished applying, you can seal up the holes and it will be fine for children and pets to enter and to sleep in the room.

You will need to determine what kind of termite you have for us to direct you on the best treatment method. If you have drywood termites, you could drill holes into the galleries and inject a product like Termidor Foam to expand and eliminate the colony. You will only be injecting the foam into the studs and around where the activity is, not filling the entire wall void. It would be hard to determine exactly how many cans you would need withouth knowing where you are primarily seeing activity. If you have subterranean termites, you will need to do a trench treatment around the home to eliminate the colony in the ground with a product like Termidor SC. Termidor SC will last in the soil for at least 10 years to both eliminate your current termites and prevent any new ones from entering the home. The Termidor SC trench treatment would kill the existing termites in the wall of your home as well, but you could always do a spot treatment with the Termidor Foam to help speed up the process along with the trench treament. Termidor FOAM can be reused at another time.  Be sure to rinse the tube after use so it is not left to dry.

Termidor Foam would be good to use.  You would drill directly into the kickout holes you are seeing so that you can get directly in the gallery where the termites actively are.  You want to drill a 3/8 to 1/2 inch hole.  You can plug the hole with which putty/caulk you would like after if wanted.

The Termidor FOAM has different uses and different percentages of the active ingredients in it along with a different carrier method as well. All of these things combined will give it a different residual time.

Termidor FOAM  and Termidor SC when accompanied by a foaming agent would be the same application. However, the Termidor SC with a foamin agent would cover more area, and certainly be more economical if you had larger areas or more than one area to treat.

It is recommended that you wait until the Termidor FOAM has dissipated and dried completely before sealing the drilled holes. This could take 1-2 hours.

Termidor Foam will equal to 20 quarts of solution. You will not foam the entire void with Termidor Foam, rather you will drill a hole close to the top of the ceiling/stud on either side of the stud. Once the holes are in place on each side, inject the foam into each hole for 5-10 seconds, allowing the foam to expand but slide down the sides of the studs where they would travel. If you are seeing them along the baseboard areas, drill holes every 8-10 inches apart across the area between studs, about an inch or 2 above the baseboard. Use the same injection rate for each hole and let dry. It has some residual for about a month after it dissipates so if any are missed in the initial application the rest of the colony should be affected. If you know where an active infestation is, you should indeed direct treat with the Termidor Foam. The foam will only last for about 6 weeks because it is not bonding with soil molecules. 

According to the Termidor FOAM SDS sheet, this product is odorless. 

If you can get to the voids where you know the ants are nesting and trailing you could use a product like Termidor Foam to expand and reach as much of the nest as possible. Once the foam dissipates it will dry and leave behind a residual for a few weeks to transfer from one ant to the next to eliminate the entire colony in the home. After eliminating the colony you will want to try and seal up as many entry points for the ants as possible for the next year.

Yes, Termidor SC will last 10 years in the soil as a barrier treatment because the Fipronil bonds to the soil. Termidor Foam is used to get direct contact to the active colonies inside the wall voids and will disapate over time (usually 6 weeks)  

How to Do a Termite Treatment 

No, Termidor SC should only be used indoors if you are treating an active termite infestation and you know where the pests are. We would not recommend applying this product while pets and/or children are indoors. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for pets to return to the area. 

Yes, as long as you were able to rinse the area Termidor foam touched with soap and water for 15 minutes, there should be no harm. If you are still concerned please contact BASF 800-526-1072.

You should only use the Termidor Foam to directly spot treat active infestations of termites inside.  If they are in the wood in the wall on the second story then yes you would use it there.

We recommend that you drill directly into the stud 6in from floor and 6in from ceiling and inject the Termidor Foam into the holes. Each application will last for 6 weeks.

Termidor Foam does not come with any metal tips. It only comes with the plastic tip on the end of the tube attachment.

Termidor Foam is not labeled to be used in kitchen cabinets per the manufacturer. It should only be used in wall voids.

Termidor FOAM is only used when you are directly spot treating active infestations, this would involve drilling right into the infested wood and using the tip to inject.

After making your first application of Termidor FOAM in wall voids another application can not be made for 6 weeks.  Termidor is a residual product and can take weeks for full results.
