    Q
Do I need to have Termidor applied inside the house with perimeter treatment ?
Right now I do not have termites, it's all preventive. By inside the house I mean foam around pipes, under the sink, etc.
    A
Termidor is only labeled to be used inside for spot treatments. You can use Termidor as a preventative outdoors and a generally residual insecticide like talstar for indoor perimeter treatment for all different types of insects.

    Q
Can Termidor be applied along concrete walk ways, patios, and drive ways that are paved against house walls?

Termidor SC should only be applied a foot up and a foot out directly up against the structure for a topical barrier and in the soil (6" by 6" trench and/or drilled holes in concrete) for termite control/prevention. It cannot be applied as a broadcast or on walk ways, patios or inside the structure.

  • Asked by Marjorie from Summit, Nj
    03/24/2015
    Q
Does Termidor kill young rhododendrons near house?
Using a direct injection unit, Termidor SC was injected at the perimeter of the base of the brick exterior of a new kitchen addition on 11/5/2014 using the trench/soil injection method. Three young rhododendrons were planted about 2 feet away from the house. They did not survive the winter. Could the Termidor be responsible for killing these perennials?
    A
It is highly unlikely the Termidor killed the rhododendrons. Now, if they were young, the injection or disruption of the soil may have caused distress on the plant.

    Q
How long is Termidor effective indoors when applied as a spot treatment indoors?
    A
Termidor SC can only be used to spot treat for termites in wall voids indoors. When used properly Termidor SC will last for about 6 weeks in wall voids. If you want a longer lasting product for termites in wall voids, Bora-Care would be a good choice.

    Q
Can Termidor be used for Brown Recluse spiders in a storage shed. How should it be applied ?
I have seen Brown Recluse spiders in my storage shed in my back yard. Would Termidor be the proper product and how should it be applied to the shed and the wood under the shed.
    A
Termidor SC can only be used around the exterior of structures to control spiders. We recommend you use Demon WP on the interior of your shed to control Brown recluse spiders. Demon WP does a fantastic job killing just about any spider that comes into contact with treated surfaces. Demon WP will also kill most other insects which will eliminate the spiders food source and make your home and property a less favorable hunting ground. Demon WP does not offer an instant knockdown and it can take several hours to a day for spiders to die after they come into contact with the dry residual. Please take a few minutes to read our article Brown Recluse Spider Control to learn how to make your property less favorable to this pest.

    Q
Each 20 oz bottle covers how many square feet?
    A
This will depend on how you are using it. If you are diluting it to be used as a general insect barrier spray around your foundation, then each gallon you mix up at the .8 ounce rate will cover roughly 1000 sq/ft. So you are looking at a total of 20,000 sq/ft for the whole bottle. If you are doing a termite trench treatment, each 20 ounce bottle will cover 60 lineal feet. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Q
Can I mix Talstar and Termidor together @ gallon doses?
    A
No, Talstar P and Termidor SC should NOT be tank mixed. Termidor SC can only be applied outdoors. Talstar P can be applied to indoor cracks and crevices and outdoors. If mixed together they will be ineffective as Termidor SC is a non-repellent. We are unsure what you are treating for so please provide additional information so that we can offer you more information.

    Q
Will Termidor SC work for Florida carpenter ants and other carpenter ants?
Are both attracted to the same baits? Florida carpenters seem more finicky-can't get them to take baits.
    A

Carpenter ants in FL would be the same as carpenter ants in other regions of the country. We generally recommend using Termidor SC outdoors around the perimeter of your home. This is labeled to be used every six months outdoors.

What types of bait are you using? We would be happy to make another recommendation if you have been using them for a while.

    Q
Can I use Termidor SC to treat for termites where my well is located in my basement?
How much product would I need to treat a 650 ft sq ft house?
    A

We recommend contacting our office for treatment recommendations as we will need more information in order to advise on the correct way to treat for termites with Termidor SC . The depth of the basement walls, how close the well is to the exterior wall, and how many linear feet you are treating around the exterior. The square footage is not important as you need to know how many linear feet it is around the exterior of the home. You may reach us at 1-866-581-7378 Mon - Fri 9am-5pm EST.

    Q
What are the best sprayer recommendations and products for indoor and outdoor insecticides? What would be the best treatment for Drywood Termites?
Do I need a special gas powered type of equipment?
    A

The Chapin Premier 1 Gallon Poly Sprayer 21210XP is a great general purpose hand pump sprayer that works great for general pest control applications both indoors and outdoors. For outdoor lawn applications, The Chapin Professional 4 Gallon backpack sprayer is a great option. The most popular general purpose insecticide is Talstar P. It is labeled for both indoor and outdoor use, treats over 75 insects, lasts 30 days outdoors (perimeter, ornamental, lawn and broadcast applications) and 90 days indoors (crack and crevice applications only)

Drywood Termites are best treated with a termiticide foam like FUSE Termiticide Foam or BoraCare. You can see our How to Treat for Drywood Termite Guide here

    Q
Where can Termidor SC be sprayed for spiders?
    A

Termidor SC is labeled for spiders, but it can only be sprayed one foot up and one foot out around the exterior of a structure. A better option would be our Spider Control Kit. This kit contains the products you need to prevent or eliminate spider activity in and around your home. Using the three products in this kit after a thorough inspection of the target area will lead to a successful spider treatment program. This kit contains the liquid concentrate Temprid FX in easy-to-use single dose bottles. Temprid FX has two active ingredients that target most common crawling and flying pests long after the initial spray. The included CB-80 is a ready-to-use aerosol insecticide that kills spiders and insects quickly on contact. Finally, Catchmaster 100i Insect Monitors trap spiders and insects to help identify which pests are present and to monitor your treatment.

  • Asked by Michelle from Seattle, Wa

    Q
Will Termidor treat moisture ants? How long will it take to get rid of all the ants including the colony?
We found moisture ants in attic above the garage. I am not sure if there are any more ants behind the dry wall. If I spray the area I could see, will the ants be killed eventually? How long will it take if that's the case? Thanks.
    A
We do not know what species of ant you are referring to as there is no ant called a "moisture" ant and ALL ants are attracted to moisture and must have it to survive. Do you know the exact species? There are no known resistance species of ant to Termidor so it would work to kill any ant colony. However, Termidor can not be used in any indoor space unless you are doing a direct spot treatment in a regularly unaccessible area on the whole colony. If you see an area they are trailing you could try either Termidor Foam to use in the galleries you think they are hiding in as this form of termidor has a broader label in where it can be used; or you can try the Complete Ant Kit and use a bait that they would take back to feed to the colony. You will want to check around your home for where the ants could have come in to either seal off these areas or cut back any bushes and trees that touch the home and use a general barrier spray regularly to keep them away in the future. Talstar would be a great easy to use and safe option for a barrier spray.
