I tilled my entire yard, spread the seed and watered as needed. Nothing. I tested my soil and made corrections. Still nothing. I thought it might surface this year. Nope. Obviously it works for others but it just didn't sprout anything for me.

Seeds

I have always purchased Tifblair Centipede grass seeds and this is the first time the seeds didn't work. I have them in Scotts Miracle grow and after three weeks no germination. I called and was told the soil temperature is still too cool. Never had this problem before.

Still Waiting

I bought a one pound bag of this seed about two weeks ago to put on my wife's gravesite. There is a water source nearby and I watered it every day for the first week. It has not sprouted at all. Obviously, I am disappointed. I could have purchased sod for slightly more than I paid for this seed. If it does not sprout soon, I will probably go ahead and get some sod.

We have spoken with the manufacturer and they have stated that the only time they have seen the seed fail to germinate was when it was planted too deep, where it could not get the right amount of sunlight and moisture to grow or prep work was not done completely. This product is a smart seed that will only germinate when conditions are right. Seeding a lawn does take time and the right conditions and prep work to ensure success and if everything that needs to be done is not happening, then the seed will not germinate until it is done. Many people do not understand this and just throw the seed down, water for a time and assume it will work.
