How Are Camel Crickets Different From Other Crickets?

For one, they are far more likely to enter a home and present a nuisance. Most other crickets are content to remain outside and are incredibly unlikely to breed if one finds its way into your home. This makes them a very small threat when it comes to infestation. Cave or Spider Crickets, however, are much more at home inside human dwellings. This is especially true if there are damp and dark areas for them to hide in.

How To Get Rid Of Camel Crickets

1.    Take Away Their Hiding Places

First, eliminate whatever shelter and food they might have available to them, to the best of your ability. This means trying to reduce the level of dampness and dark in whatever region they are nesting. To do this, you will want to fix any pipes that might be leaking and think about installing better lighting in basements and similar areas.

Also, you will want to be sure and clean up any food particles that might be sustaining an infestation. Cleaning up this food can be challenging because the cave crickets do not need much to survive on. However, it is important to cut off all sources of food.

2.    Treat Them With Pesticides

This is one of the easiest and most effective ways to get rid of these pests. There are several different brands of pesticides that will be very effective in getting rid of Cave Crickets. Most of these are based around the pyrethroid family of insecticides and are very safe to use in the home, even around small children and pets. You should of course be sure to follow all manufacturers’ instructions on their use and feel free to call or e-mail us with any questions or concerns you might have.
