Yes. Unless other wise noted,  the pesticides on our website are safe to use in a home with children. As with any product, it is important to follow the label instructions and precautions to ensure safety. Talstar P is non-irritating, non-staining and contains no odorous or plant-damaging solvents. It's even labeled for food-handling area.

Yes. Talstar P can be safely used around pets as long as you follow the label instructions; all pets need to be out of the area while application is being made and they can return as soon as the application is dry. Talstar P will kill scorpions indoors and outdoors, but our most popular scorpion products are Demon WP and Cy-Kick CS. Both of these products will stay up on the surface of whatever material you are spraying, making the insecticide more available for the scorpion to come in contact with it. All of the insecticides on our site are safe to use around pets (unless otherwise noted) as long as you follow the product label.

What concentration are you using? We recommend using the highest rate of 1 ounce per gallon of water for millipedes. Also, insects do not die as soon as they touch Talstar P. It takes time for them to actually die after coming in contact with the dry residual. You need to give the product time to work. Millipedes are going to be in areas that have a lot of moisture, so finding a way to get rid of some of the moisture will be helpful too. If you have mulch around your house you need to make sure you rake it back at least 6 inches from the base of the house and turn the mulch frequently.

Talstar is not labeled to be used on vegetables or anything edible.  Most pest control products are not labeled for this use.  Talstar is safe for use around pets when used according to the label.  You should always keep children and pets away from the area while you are treating, and then once the treatment is dry it is perfectly safe to allow pets to re-enter the area.  We do have a product called Malathion 57% which is labeled to apply to vegetable gardens.

Yes, Talstar P like most insecticides will be harmful to fish if it gets into the pond. According to the Talstar product label: "This pesticide is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water, to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Drift and run-off from treated areas may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in neighboring areas. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment washwaters. Care should be used when spraying to avoid fish and reptile pets in/around ornamental ponds."

Residential uses of diazinon were outlawed in the U.S. in 2004. We were able to find product labels by searching for "diazinon 4E specimen label", but we would still recommend contacting the manufacturer for advice on product  usage and safety. Talstar is great for 99% of bugs that might enter your home, but ants are especially difficult to get rid of.  This is because an ant colony can reproduce new ants almost faster than you can kill them.  Talstar will only kill the ants it touches.  The key though to ant removal is eliminating the nest.  Most of the time you have no idea where the nest is.  So, you have to use a product that will not kill the ants right away so they will take it back to the colony and spread it around, eliminating the source.  This is where ant baits come in.  Ant baits are a food source that the ants in your kitchen will eat and take back to the colony.  It will not kill them right away.  This is the only true way to eliminate your ant problem is to kill them at the source.  If you do not kill the colony, you will continue to battle them all summer.  One important note is you need to stop spraying the Talstar until you get some ant bait, and do not spray until after your ants are gone.  If you continue to spray the Talstar, the ants will die before they get back to the colony with the bait.  Our most popular ant elimination product is our complete ant kit.  It comes with an ant granular bait to apply outside around the house, and a gel bait to apply in your kitchen.  It has a very high success rate and is our most popular ant kit. 

The most popular product for sod webworms is Talstar. Talstar is very effective on most insects and it is gentle to plants. Time applications to control young larvae, if possible. Spot treatments may be applied when infestations are first detected and the damaged area is small. The treatment will be most effective if applied in the early evening when larvae begin feeding. Please check with your local cooperative extension office to see if a second generation is possible in one season in your region.

For the initial application and in areas where pest populations are high you should use 1 oz of Talstar per gallon of water for indoor and outdoor use. For maintenance applications you can use 1/2 ounce of Talstar per gallon of water.

No, the herbs should not be eaten. Talstar is not labeled to spray on edible vegetation and the effects of eating food products contaminated by the insecticide are not known. We would definitely recommend covering the herbs in the future to prevent contamination.

Talstar P and Talstar PL work very well springtails and they can be used in the same areas. Springtails can be tough to control. You must find the moisture source and correct it to get rid of springtails completely.

While we do not think the Talstar would hurt the birds, sometimes it is just a matter of perception. Basically if someone thinks the product is likely to hurt their beloved pet, they may think any health issues the pet has in the days, weeks, months following the application is because of the insecticide. We recommend closing the windows while the exterior treatments are being done and then opening them after the application has dried in order to avoid any issues. Talstar is odorless, dries clear and is known to be one of the safest insecticides to use around people and animals.

Use a 0.06% dilution of Talstar P (1 fluid oz. per gallon of water) for bedbug control. A thorough application should be made to crack and crevices where evidence of bed bugs occurs. This includes bed frames, box springs, inside empty dressers and clothes closets and carpet edges,high and low wall moldings and wallpaper edges. Do not use this product on bed linens, pillows, mattresses or clothes. Remove all clothes and other articles from dressers or clothes closets before application. Allow all treated areas to thoroughly dry before use. Not recommended for use as sole protection against bedbugs. If evidence of bedbugs is found in/on mattresses, use products approved for this use such as Bedlam aerosol and Protect-A-Bed mattress, boxspring and pillow encasements

Talstar P is a recommended product for mosquito control. You will need to spray more than just the outside of your home though. You will need to spray the underside of the leaves on trees and bushes nearby as that is where the mosquitoes spend the heat of the day. We have also had good reviews from people who sprayed a 2 foot band around the perimeter of their property.

Talstar P is labeled for gnats and should do a great job for you. You can use Talstar P as a broadcast spray over your lawn, concentrating in areas where see a lot of activity. Talstar P will not keep new gnats away, but it should eliminate the gnats that land of the treated surface.
