    Q
Should I soil drench giant bamboo with Adonis 2F for a mealybug infestation? How do I mix the product?
    A
Yes, Adonis 75 can be used to systemically control mealybugs. The easiest way to apply the Adonis 75 for systemic use is by performing a soil drench. Each bag contains 4 x 2.25 oz. water-soluble packets. Each packet makes 25 gallons of of mixed solution. If you do not have a way to mix up 25 gallons at a time than you cannot use this product as it comes pre measured. You can use the liquid version called Adonis 2F as you can mix up as little or as much as you need at a time. You will need to use 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Adonis 2F per inch of trunk diameter depending on what you are trying to treat the trees for. Most people use a 5 gallon bucket to dilute the product with water. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per foot of shrub height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) but you may use 1 quart -1 gallon of water per foot of height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) as well. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested.  Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. After the soil drench has been applied you should water it in with at east 1/2 inch of water. Note: Water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone is achieved. Insecticides applied to the soil are taken up by the roots and trans-located throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 7-10 days after applications to encourage uptake. Be sure to read the Adonis 2F product label for complete usage instructions.

    Q
Will Adonis work on citrus infested with leaf miners? If so, how much should I use?
I have about 10 various citrus tress that have been hit hard with leaf miners. Which product will work best Adonis 2f or Adonis 75 wsp?
    A
Neither Adonis 2F nor Adonis 75 can be used on citrus trees. Imdaproc 4SC is specifically labeled for use on citrus trees for leafminer control. You can see the full application instructions for this treatment on page 24 of the product label instructions.

    Q
Will Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide work for whiteflies and how much should I use?
    A
Most people use a 5 gallon bucket or a large watering can to apply Adonis as a soil drench. You will need 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Adonis 2F per foot of shrub height or 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter for trees. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 7-10 days after applications to encourage uptake. We also recommend using a product with an active ingredient that is different than the soil drench for a foliage application while you are waiting for the Adonis to translocate through the ficus. Talstar P is the most popular choice for foliage application on ficus for white fly. - See more at: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/adonis-2f-insecticidetermiticide-p-1758.html?sub_id=3781#sthash.GhyH0nRM.dpuf

    Q
Does Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide protect infestation from both subterranean termites and drywood termites?
    A

Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide should be used in a trench/drilled holes for subterranean termites. For Drywood termite treatments on wood, we recommend applying a product called Bora-Care. This product is applied to raw wood and penetrates further than any other product. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article/videos on How to Treat for Drywood Termites for additional helpful informaiton.

    Q
We have a huge problem with sweat bees in our pool. Yesterday, we killed over 50 of them in less than two hours. Will Adonis 2F help eliminate them if we spray the landscaped area around our pool?
    A

To treat bees around your pool, you want to use a product like Tempo SC Ultra.  Tempo SC Ultra will leave a non staining residual in areas treated around your pool. Please keep in mind that this product will kill the bees when they come in contact with the treated areas, but will not stop them from entering.

    Q
Can Adonis 2F be foliar applied to roses that have been soil treated with Merit 0.5 G two months prior?
I treated our knockout rose beds with Merit 0.5 G in mid-April, but the mid-June Japanese Beetle hatch in our area this year has been excessive and the beetles are doing quite a bit of damage to the rose plants (especially the blooms). Can Adonis 2F be foliar applied to treat the existing beetle infestation, or should a product with an active ingredient other than Imidacloprid be used since Merit has already been applied as a systemic treatment earlier in the season?
    A

If beetles are an issue now it would be recommended to treat the foliage directly with something like Talstar P, taking care to avoid spraying the blooms.  While Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide could be applied to the foliage, Talstar will have a faster kill as it does not have to be absorbed by the roses.  Insects just have to contact a treated area long enough to receive a lethal dose.

    Q
When Adonis 2F is soil applied to rose beds, how long is the residual systemic protection from Japanese Beetles?
Our (knockout) rose beds are difficult to access after spring greenup. It is much easier to apply soil treatments after the late winter pruning, and prior to adding mulch cover. Will a soil treament applied in late March still provide systemic protection from adult Japanese Beetles in mid-June and July once the beetles emerge?
    A

Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide can take up to 8 weeks to be translocated throughout the plant and is best applied when roses are actively growing (but before pests are present) to be able to absorb the product.  You will need to water in daily for 7-10 days after application to get it to the roots effectively.  Applying closer to the time the beetles become active would be best.

    Q
Does adonis 75 wps kill termites on walls and woods in the roof woodwork?
What better product do you recommend?
    A

While Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide will kill Termites that contact the treated areas. There are better options.

For drywood termites in general and in furniture, our suggestion would be to treat all new wood and untreated wood with Boracare.  Boracare will absorb into the wood and kill any infestation already there plus protect your new wood.  However, it can only be used on untreated and raw wood.

For any wood that is treated or can not be removed, we would suggest drilling little holes and injecting a product into the galleries such as Alpine Ant and Termite Foam which will foam through.  It has a transfer effect so the termites will transfer it to other termites in inaccessible areas.

You should perform a liquid termite treatment in the ground to get the termites where they are entering your house or for preventative treatments. To perform a treatment just as a professional company would do, please read our How To Do A Termite Treatment Article which explains exactly how you should treat your home properly.  Doing a treatment like what is described in the article will not only take care of existing termites that you have, but it will also protect and prevent future termites from entering for about 7 years.

Will this work on whiteflies in container plants?
I have hibiscus, mandavillas, and allamanda in containers covered in whiteflies. Will this work?
    A

Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide is labeled for whiteflies and can be used systemically as a soil drench for trees, shrubs and ornamentals. However, we would not recommend using that in potted plants.

We would recommend using Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control. It contains the same active ingredient as Adonis 2F and lasts for up to 8 weeks.

What do you recommend for white flies in deep south Texas?
We had our yard landscaped 3 years ago...ever since we have a terrible problem with white flies. Everything is dying. Indian hawthorne, hibiscus. We had yellow lantana but i recently pulled that out. There are just swarms when you walk through the grass. I have tried everything that home depot has to planting marigolds to soap and garlic.

Adonis 2F would be a fantastic product to use for whitefly control on all the plants in your yard. Here's how to apply for the best results: Most people use a 5 gallon bucket or a large watering can to apply Adonis as a soil drench. You will need 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. Will Adonis 2F applied as a drench kill ladybugs?
Aphids infested our yard plants. We applied Adonis 2F as a drench. How long do we have to wait until we can release some beneficial Ladybugs?
    A

Because of how ladybugs feed, they could potentially be affected by Adonis 2F. They are more likely to feed on shrubs/bushes and plants. Regardless of when the ladybugs are let out, it is possible that the product will affect them.
