We have a dirt baseball infield being taken over by Nutsedge. What is the application rate for a pump sprayer to spot-treat for nutsedge if there is just dirt and no grass in the area of the nutsedge? Will this kill the tubers underground as well? Thanks!
Whether or not you can apply it will depend on whether the field is part of the school district or not. If it is, the school district regulates what products they do or do not allow to be applied on their property. They generally give a list of approved products. Dismiss Turf Herbicide can be absorbed into foliage, but most of the product is delivered to the plant through the root system. For optimum control of purple nutsedge, split applications are recommended (Table 4). Apply 4-8 ounces per acre as an initial application followed by a second application when evidence of actively growing purple nutsedge is visible. Do not exceed a total application rate of 12 fl oz/A (0.275 fl oz/1,000 sq ft or 0.375 lb ai/A) per year. Please read over label Dismiss 05-12-16 Comm Red (domyown.com)
