No, Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait Granules are a very safe solution to fire ants.  When you apply this product, you normally would broadcast it over your lawn in such a small amount there would not be enough of it in one place for your pet to consume.  This product is only strong enough to kill a very small ant.  Of course (like any other product), you would want to make sure that you keep the opened bag of granules in a safe place where the pet could not get into the open bag.   Fire Ant Control Article
