Susan from Kapolei, Hi writes

Are the contents inside the vial of the Gentrol Point Source supposed to be dry or liquid?

After the vial is cracked, is there supposed to be a liquid that spreads to the cloth? If not, and a rattling sound is heard while the disk is shaken (sounds dry), does it mean that it's ineffective? You mentioned that it has a shelf life of about 5 years.

Answer:

Inside the raised portion of the Gentrol Point Source disc, there is a tiny vial with a very small amount of solution (about 1 ml of liquid) inside. Once crushed, this will break the vial open to release the formula which will slowly disperse onto the filter paper. It does not completely cover or soak the filter paper so sometimes hard to see. Hold the disc up to  the light for a few moments and you may see a very slight color change which will expand over time. Once activated, each disc is effective for 90 days and you should be using 1 disc per 75 sq ft of area inside. The shelf life of unused/activated discs is 5 years per the manufacturer Zoecon. Please view the product label for more information and instructions on how to activate this discs. If you are experiencing any issues, please let us know the lot number of the box that you received, and we will report this to the manufacturer and move forward with a solution for you.
