Product Overview

Asteria Insecticide is a systemic insect control product formulated with spirotetramat to manage a wide range of damaging piercing-sucking insects and mites commonly found in greenhouse and nursery environments. After application, Asteria moves throughout the plant via both xylem and phloem, protecting existing plant tissue, new growth, and the root system.

Asteria features a non-neonicotinoid mode of action, making it well suited for insecticide rotation and integrated pest management programs. Its systemic activity helps suppress pest development and reduce long-term population pressure when applied preventatively or at early infestation stages.

This suspension concentrate may be applied as a foliar spray or as a soil or container drench. It is labeled for use on ornamental plants, non-bearing fruit and nut trees, and vegetable transplants in greenhouses, nurseries, and interior plantscapes. When used according to the label, Asteria provides up to 30 days of residual control against key insect and mite pests.

General Application Instructions:

Asteria may be applied as a foliar spray or through systemic applications including soil and container drenches and labeled irrigation systems. Applications should be made preventatively or when pest populations are first detected to achieve optimal performance and reduce long-term population pressure.

Foliar Applications:

Apply Asteria using properly calibrated ground equipment, including hand-held or backpack sprayers, or through approved chemigation systems. Thorough coverage of foliage is required for effective uptake. Begin applications before pest populations become established and repeat at 14 to 28 day intervals as needed, depending on pest pressure and crop tolerance.

Soil and Container Drench Applications

Apply Asteria in sufficient water volume to wet the growing media without excessive runoff. Follow drench applications with moderate irrigation and manage watering carefully during the following days to avoid loss of active ingredient from containers. Drench applications provide extended systemic activity for container grown plants.

Dilution Rates

Asteria is applied at a rate of 1.7 to 3.4 fluid ounces per 100 gallons of water, or 0.051 to 0.1 fluid ounces per 3 gallons of water, depending on the pest treated, application method, and level of infestation. Higher labeled rates may be used when pest pressure is present or for pests that are more difficult to control. Always follow crop-specific directions and seasonal maximum application limits listed on the label.

Asteria should be rotated with insecticides from different IRAC mode of action groups as part of a resistance management program. Do not exceed labeled application rates or seasonal maximums.

*See label for full application instructions.
