Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules are safe for people, and pets when used as directed and once the product has dried completely in the treated area. Once the product has had time to completely dry, it is safe to resume normal activity. For more information on health and safety, you may contact the manufacturer at -866-897-8050. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions before use.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules can help with general pest control but you can use Talstar P to mound drench for fire ants and treat for fleas and flies as well as many other pests. If the fire ants are actively looking for food then you can use Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait, which can be used in areas where companion animals are active. For flies, we also recommend using a trap like Flies Be Gone and/or Fly Bait in fly bait stations. We have a guide for Fly Control, Flea Control as well as Fire Ant Control. We recommend keeping your pets out of the area while you make any application and let them all completely dry before you let them back outside.
The SDS sheet does not have the size of the granular. We would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer Control Solutions: 281.892.2500. Due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, there isn't a master list that exists. You may want to try calling the manufacturer of your spreader or the chemical itself directly, to see if anyone on their staff has that info. Otherwise, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates. You can see a short video on how to accomplish this below.

Unfortunately, we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo, and since the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their bag we are unsure what the exact setting would be. Between Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules and Demand G Granules, we would recommend Demand G because it is labeled to help control springtails. Springtails are an indication of a moisture issue, so their abundance means there is a moisture problem that needs correcting. You will not be able to reduce the numbers of this pest successfully until you have addressed and corrected the moisture issue that is allowing them to flourish. We recommend reading over our Springtail Control Guide for more tips and information that may fit your needs.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules are not going to be labeled for any sort of flying insects. No-see-ums are considered gnats on the labels. You may consider using Bifen IT instead.
Bifen L/P granules need to be applied to the ground via a spreader designed for granule distribution on the ground at a set spreader setting rate. Bifen I/T concenteate spray cannot be used in any type of cold ULV or propane/thermal fogger device. It can however be used in hand pump and backpack tank sprayers, including ones such as the Stihl Mist Blowers or the Maruyama Mist Blower we carry for example.
No insecticide or fire ant bait will provide year-long control of fire ants. Treatments should begin at the first sign of fire ants and continue throughout high-activity months.
Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules will control fire ants for 30 days. The longest residual insecticide granule for fire ants is Talstar XTRA which has a residual of 2-3 months. These products can be applied a mound applications or broadcast over the lawn.
Baiting for fire ants is only effective when they are foraging (looking for food). If they are not foraging for food, baiting will not be successful.
Please review our Fire Ant Treatment Guide and Fire Ant Prevention Guide for more information.
Bifen Granules should be broadcast in the lawn and then watered in and dried before the dogs return to the treated areas. Once the area is completely dried it will be pet-safe.
This product can be applied to mulched areas, however, we would recommend pulling the mulch back and applying the Bifen Granules directly to the soil. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.

Both the liquid and granules would be fine to use in areas where kids and pets may enter after the applications have completely dried, typically after 4-6 hours. For perimeter barrier applications we typically suggest using a liquid because it is more versatile. You can spray on the ground, a band around the bottom of the house, around doors and windows and other areas where pests may try to enter the structure and then apply Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules further out in the lawn.
