    Q
Does Bifen XTS work on springtails? Would it be best to treat at night when the pests are present?
    A
Bifen XTS is labeled for springtails and should do a great job for you. The time of day you spray is not very important as Bifen XTS will leave a long lasting active residual on treated areas. It is important to note that springtails are very hard to eliminate unless the moisture issue that brought them to the area to start with is fixed. You can learn more about how to eliminate springtails by reading our article " How to get rid of springtails"

    Q
Is Bifen XTS a viable solution to eliminate stink bugs outdoors, either as a spray on in a fogger?
    A
Bifen XTS can be used to control stinkbugs outdoors but cannot be used in a fogger. Bifen XTS, like most products, is not specifically labeled for stinkbugs because this pest is so new to the industry. Most professionals use the highest allowed usage rate on the product label for the area they are treating when trying to control stinkbugs.

    Q
How much Bifen XTS would you use in a 60 gallon spray unit?
    A
The proper dilution rate of Bifen XTS is .32 of an ounce per gallon of water.  This works out to be about 19 ounces for 60 gallons of water, or a little more than 1/2 of a quart bottle.

    Q
What mixture of Bifen XTS is used to treat Zimmerman moths on pine trees?
    A
You will need to use 1.28 fl. oz. of Bifen XTS per 10 gallons of water and apply at the rate of 10 gallons per 4,356 square feet. One gallon of finish spray will treat 435 sq. ft. If a higher volume application is needed to sufficiently cover the plant canopy, Bifen XTS can be diluted in large volumes of water and applied through low volume equipment as long as the maximum label rate (1.28 fluid ounces per 4,356 square feet) is not exceeded.

    Q
Does the higher concentration of Bifen XTS make it superior to Bifen IT for normal outdoor spraying?
    A
Bifen XTS does not really make it that much better than the normal Bifen IT, its just that one quart container can make much more than the equivalent Bifen IT.  The normal mixture rate of Bifen IT is one ounce per gallon of water.  When using Bifen XTS, you only need about a third of an ounce to make the same treatment. You can make many more gallons of solution from one container of Bifen XTS than you can with the normal Bifen IT.

    Q
Will rain after an application of Bifen XTS reduce the effectiveness of the product?
I applied it to my yard. About 45 minutes after I finished the application, it rained(moderate to light) for about an hour. Also, how long does it take to see results. I have a flea problem, and I am trying to eliminate them.
    A
Typically, Bifen XTS as well as many other liquid insecticides only need about 30 minutes to dry. Once dry, they can hold up to rain rather well.  However, it is much easier for the product to bond to porous surfaces like concrete and siding then grass and your lawn. You may want to apply again just to be safe when there is not rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours. Typically, for fleas it can take a week or two to see results. You should treat every 14 days for fleas. It usually takes at least 2 to 3 treatments since Bifen XTS or any other product will kill the eggs. You need to treat every 14 days, 2 to 3 times, so you make sure the product is strong enough to kill the hatched eggs every 2 weeks.

    Q
    Will Bifen XTS harm pets?
    A
No. Bifen XTS will not harm pets when used as directed on the product label. All pets and people (except for the applicator) should be out of the area while the application is being made, and they can return as soon as the treated area is dry.

    Q
Can Bifen XTS be applied with a hose-end sprayer?
i see you recommend this product with the use of a poly sprayer (as well as for use with some others, such as the Bifen IT and Talstar P)...but can it also be used/applied with a hose-end sprayer?
    A
You can use Bifen XTS in a hose end sprayer as long as it can be set to the correct product/water ratio. We recommend using the Chapin hose end sprayer. This sprayer is super user friendly and can even be set to spray very small concentrations.

    Q
What is the difference between Bifen XTS and Bifen IT?
I want to use this in a backpack mister/blower for mosquitoes. Will one work better than the other? Also how does this compare to Permethrin SFR?
    A
Bifen I/T is our most popular choice for mosquito control.  The Bifen XTS is the same product, just in a higher concentration.  For mosquito control you do not need the higher concentration, it is not necessary.  Bifen I/T would also be a better solution then permethrin because permethrin breaks down quicker in sunlight and the Bifen I/T only needs to be applied every 30 days whereas permethrin would need to be applied every two weeks.  The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs.  You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees around the outside patio or wherever you hang out at around the house.  You should also treat the tree line in your yard near the forest if one exists.  Remember to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves.
