    Q
How much Bonide Grass Beater do I mix in 1 gallon of water?
    A

Unfortunately you did not give us any information to help determine what usage rate you should use. We recommend you review the product label to determine how much product you will require per 1,000 sq ft. Once you have determined the usage per 1,000 sq ft you follow the directions below to decide how much water you should per 1,000 sq ft (this will vary for every person as the type of equipment will be different and the walking speed of the applicator will be different).

    1. Mark an area of 1,000 square feet (i.e. 20 by 50 feet or 25 by 40 feet).
    2. Place the sprayer on a level surface and add water noting the final level of water in the spray tank.
    3. Spray the marked area with a sufficient volume of water to provide uniform coverage. Refill the sprayer to the same level as before measuring the amount of water added. The measured water added to the sprayer is the volume needed to cover 1,000 square feet.
    4. Determine the application rate as directed on the product label.
    5. To each volume of water used as measured in step 3, add the amount of product as determined in step 4.
Example: If the sprayer uses 1 gallon of water to cover 1,000 square feet and the desired application rate of Bonide Grass Beater Over-The-Top Grass Killer is .80 fluid oz./1,000 square feet, then you would add .80 fluid ounces of Bonide Grass Beater Over-The-Top Grass Killer to every 1 gallon of water to be used."

If you still find you need help figuring out the correct usage rate (we know this label is confusing) please don't hesitate to call us and let one of our customer service representatives help you 866-581-7378 (M-F 9-5 EST)

    Q
How much Bonide Grass Beater Over-the-Top Grass Killer Concentrate do I use in a pump sprayer to spot spray specific grassy weeds?
Your instructions say to use so much per 1000 sq feet. I am not spraying a large area but spot spraying on an ornamental grass. So it would be VERY helpful if you explained how much to use per gallon in a pump sprayer. I read an answer to a question that someone asked you on-line and you completely missed their point. I guess will follow the standard that Roundup suggests and if that does not work then I wasted $23.00 on Bonide Grass Beater.
    A

When labels, such as for the Bonide Grass Beater, state 1000 square feet, the recommended amount is mixed in a gallon of water. The mixing ratio is 0.55 - 1.38 oz. per gallon of water. This will generally cover 1000 square feet depending on how heavily the product is being sprayed.

  • Asked by Rod from Ocala, Fl

    Q
Why can "Bonide Grass Beater" be used with centipede while your other Sethoxydim products can't?
Sethoxydim products: Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide, Fertilome Over the Top II Grass Killer, and Monterey Grass Getter Herbicide all fail to mention them being used with centipede grass while Bonide Grass Beater does.
    A

The amount of the active ingredient is in Bonide Grass Beater Over the Top Grass Killer is lower than the others. At this rate, it has been successfully tested to work on centipedegrass. We would recommend only using a product that is specifically labeled for what you are wanting to accomplish.

    Q
Is there a recommended temperature range for applying Bonide Grass Beater Over-The-Top Grass Killer Concentrate? How do I mix it?
    A

Bonide Grass Beater Over-The-Top Grass Killer Concentrate should be applied when temperatures are between 65-85 degrees.  The rate to use is dependent on how tall the targeted weeds are during application.  For spot treating you would use 2 fl. oz. per gallon of water for annual grasses up to 6 inches, 3 fl. oz. per gallon for annual grasses up to 12 inches in height, and for perennial grasses per the product label.  If you are making a broadcast application, you would use 0.8 fl. oz. to 1.4 fl. oz. in 1 to 10 pints of water per 1000 sq. ft. depending on the grass height as well.

  • Asked by Todd from Natchez, Ms
    02/28/2016
    Q
Does Bonide Grass Beater Over-The-Top Grass Killer Concentrate go on the ground before or after tilling?
    A

Bonide Grass Beater Over-The-Top Grass Killer Concentrate needs to be applied to weeds that are actively growing in order to kill them.  This product rapidly enters the target weed through its foliage and translocates throughout the plant. The effects range from slowing or stopping growth (generally within 2 days), to foliage reddening and leaf tip burn. Subsequently, foliage burnback may occur. These symptoms will generally be observed within 3 weeks depending on environmental conditions. You would need to wait until the grass you are targeting is dead before tilling.

    Q
Will the Bonide Grass Beater Over the Top Grass Killer kill clover?
I have a clover food plot and want to kill the grass and keep the clover. Will this product do that?
    A

The Bonide Grass Beater Over the Top Grass Killer is only designed to kill grasses and nothing that would be a broadleaf plant which includes clover. That being said, we have products specifically for use to remove both broadleaf weeds and grasses from clover and alfalfa food plots. Slay Herbicide is our most popular for that use and one 4 oz bottle will cover an acre.
