    What is the effective range for a Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike (and is there a difference between the 2 models?

    The range on the Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike is 30 feet in one direction, or a 60 ft diameter.  The only difference in the 2 models is one is solar powered and the other needs batteries.

    The Bonide Molemax Sonic Spikes are meant for outdoor use and will not be damaged by rain.  They will deter chipmunks, moles, gophers, groundhogs, rats, skunks, and ground squirrels.

    Does the Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike affect dogs?
    I saw in one of the reviews that dogs weren't digging in their trenches any longer. Will my dog hear this and not want to be in the yard?

    Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike uses a warning “chatter sound” to deter pests like moles, chipmunks, gophers, groundhogs, rats, skunks and ground squirrels.  It is not labeled for use on dogs.  While dogs may hear the sounds emitted from the Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike, it is not likely that it would deter them.

    Can dogs or cats hear the Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike?

    According to the manufacturer if the Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike is used properly it will not be an issue for pets. This product is for burrowing rodents and according to the manufacturer the “T” at the top of the spike should be flush or level with the ground in order for it to be effective.

    Can the Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike be used within 10 feet of a building, and if so, does it drive the rodents into a building?
    I live in a corner of a V and have roads close to house and don't want to drive chipmunks or rodents into the house, so I want to know can they be placed like 3' away?

    The range on the Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike is 30 feet in one direction, or a 60 ft diameter. You may place the spikes closer to the structure if needed, but the spikes will not get to determine which direction the animals run. One Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike will cover a 30x30 sq ft area according to the product label.

    If the sonic noise isn't heard is the Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike working?

    The Bonide Molemax Sonic Spike will chatter when there is a burrowing rodent within 30 feet.  If the LED does not illuminate or buzz every 28 seconds, replace the batteries.
