Review Upgrade
By Anonymous on 08/10/2011
I posted my original review of Boracare nearly a year ago (Sept 16, 2010) after using it in an attempt to save my antique cabinetmaker's workbench from a severe powderpost beetle infestation. I actually thought the situation was hopeless but bought and tried the product anyway. At that time I gave it a three-star rating because I had no way of knowing if it would work as advertised, or even if it would work at all. As I wrote then, I was "still not absolutely convinced that the powderpost beetle infestation is a thing of the past." Only time would tell. Now, nearly a year after giving my my workbench the Boracare treatment and using it every day, I have seen absolutely no further evidence of any insect infestation. Boracare DOES work as advertised and I couldn't be more pleased with the product. I am therefore upgrading my original rating from three to five stars. Well done and an hearty thank you to Boracare and DoMyOwnPestControl.com.

Boracare
By Richard on 09/15/2011
I wanted to wait to write the review for awhile as the sawdust continued to form for a couple weeks after treatment. 2 coats were applied. Now, about a month later, I don't see any new sawdust. Hopefully this will take care of the problem. The Boracare was easy to apply. I have 1/2 gal left, so I will save it for next year and give it another 2 coats. This was used on 5" timbers used as landscaping timbers around a basement egress window. The timbers are stacked on each other, so most timbers only had one side coated. Some had 2 sides coated. Rich
Boracare is Great Stuff
By Billy on 11/17/2011
I've used Boracare in renovations on wood window frames and sashes, wooden porch columns, interior structural members and on the exterior when sealed with a couple of coats of penetrating oil primer. It works great and soaks deep into the wood. I've also used it in new construction, putting it in a garden sprayer and coating the lower 4 feet of sheathing and framing before closing in the walls. Dilute it 50/50 with hot water. It's non-toxic and cheap insurance.

Boracare
By Claude on 03/05/2012
I ordered boracare to treat what I think is power post bugs.My order came very fast and packaged well. I find that it mixes easy with a drill and paint mixer in cold or warm water. I also ordered the 2Gal pro sprayer to replace the old one that I had. This is the best sprayer that I have found anywhere. I mixed boracare 1to1 to spray under my house. In some places its very low to the ground. Boracare covers good and the 2 gal sprayer works very well in tight places. This was a lot of work but its good to know I want have to do it again for many many years
FIRST TIME USING BORACARE
By Tig on 03/07/2012
I can't speak to how the powder post beetles will feel about it yet, as it's only been applied for one week now, however it was super easy to dilute and mix and applied fast and easily. DoMyOwnPestControl shipped it in a timely manner and packaged it well. I have no complaints and am thrilled to be able to use a product which had no fumes coming up thru the floor and was safe for my two little dogs. Other products' fumes can last for a very long time and make people and animals ill. As to how long the product will continue to kill powder post beetles, I'll go look for evidence of them a year from now. It could quite possibly last longer. I live in a VERY DAMP climate (the coast) where moisture is the number one problem. This appears to be the best solution on the market so far.

Appears to be great
By Kent on 04/24/2012
I say "appears to be great" because I have only applied it just a few days ago and I'm assuming that if any critters munch on the studs of my kitchen they'll soon be meeting their doom now that I've applied this. I'm renovating the kitchen, hence the ability to spray Boracare on open studs. A word of caution...this stuff is thick and will clog your sprayer if you aren't careful. Thus, as this website will tell you and as the label on the container advises... (1) use warm water when mixing, (2) spray soon after you mix it, and (3) thoroughly rinse after you use it. It's not hard...just know that the product is designed to harden like glue and will do the same in your sprayer if you're careless. As for the the shipment and overall satisfaction with this website (domyownpestcontrol), I couldn't be happier. I have ordered TONS of stuff from these guys and I'm telling you...there is no better company out there! Incredible customer support, fast shipping, and great packaging. Everything you'd want in a great customer experience!
Very good product
By Jian on 05/15/2012
After I did some research and found out this item bora-care and I bought 4 gallon for my remodeling sweet home. It's easy to mix with water and easy to spray, by the way the champion spray from this website, is better what I thought. Only thing is the pipe is not too long and I have to carry the 2 gal tan around. It's not a big deal. I sprayed the most house where the drywall has gone. wood absorbs the liquid really fast. How much effect the termite? I don't know yet, so far I don't have termite, hopefully I will never have termite in a long time. Now I am buying Timbor from here, to put dust to the joints and floor corner before everything is closed up. By the way, the company is great, good service, fast shipping. It's even better than Amazon :)

Easy to use
By Alice on 06/04/2012
I was surprised at how easy this product was to use. Rather than pay a pest company to tent our home we chose to spray our entire attic with Bora Care. Why?? Because we don't want future infestations of termites! Bora Care information says that once sprayed, termites cannot exist in the wood. It is very important to take sprayer apart after each use and rinse each part as otherwise it does harden in the sprayer. Because it takes time to soak in, we won't know how effective the product is for some period of time. But I am tracking to be able to share results in the future.

Amazing
By Deedee on 06/16/2012
I didn't think this product would really work, but I thought "Well I am going to try it before I pay the $1,200.00 that a professional company wanted". So I ordered 2 bottles and my hubby just sprayed underneath, in the crawl space. I should say that we had just got the house and noticed them inside. So we knew the house was infested. Within a week there is no sign of any termites. My hubby has been checking and it is just amazing. We saved $1,000.00 doing it ourselves with this product. I highly recommend it. I am getting ready to order a different product to take care of the spiders and any other bug that wants to try and come in. Thank you Do My Own Pest Control. I am forever grateful.

Bora-Care Used to Architectural Artifacts.
By Carl on 06/25/2012
We plan to use a Bora-Care solution to conserve archeologically recovered building components from the site of the 1646 iron making operation at Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site. Treated oak and pine artifiacts are to be preserved in historic museum collections in order to provide insight into industrial and domestic architecture of colonial New England.

You Get What You Pay For
By Ramsis on 06/28/2012
I think this product works as advertised as I used it and noticed what it does to the treated area of the wood and I think it will protect the wood for life as they said on the lable. I had seen similler product used in other countries and it does protect the wood from termite.
Bora-Care is Terrific for Termites
By Nathan on 07/18/2012
Great product that not only treats and prevents wood insects, it hinders molds and fungi spores. Easy to use and apply, it was perfect to spray into my attic before laying insulation. Shipped to my door immediately, this was a top rate product offered by a customer service oriented professional supplier.

By Daniel on 08/05/2012
It was was easy to research and order online. I decided to try BORA-CARE as it is supposedly effective and relatively nontoxic to humans. I also needed it as soon as possible, as it was holding up my project. Thinking it would take a week for the free delivery, I was very surprised to see it arrive in three days! In the end, it was very easy to apply.

Carpenter Ant invasion
By Hamish25 on 08/17/2012
I hope this treatment works as well as it seems to. Our subdivision is very wooded. This year our homes were over run with carpenter ants. After hearing neighbors' stories of disappointment concerning treatment companies, we turned to Do My Own and Bora-Care. The day after treatment we were no longer seeing carpenter ants. To this day we appear to be ant free.

Powder Post Beetle Infestation
By Jim on 10/18/2012
Although it's too soon to tell the results, the Boracare application went smoothly after following exactly the directions for mixing on the label. I have an infestation of the Powder Post beetle in some red oak in my woodworking shop that I'm trying to eliminate. For this I'm using the 1:1 ratio and spraying each side of each board. I will follow on the wood floor and OSB walls of my shop with the 5:1 ratio. The service and follow-up communications from DoMyOwnPestControl were excellent.
Non toxic
By Doug on 10/21/2012
Thanks again! Great price, delivery on-time and great customer service! I've been using this product because it's not toxic like these other ones and effective. Forget tenting the house and digging a trench and filling it with highly toxic poison that can leach into my organic vegetable garden!
It works!
By Renee on 10/26/2012
When we bought our 1905 wood frame cottage, the original carriage house had been destroyed by termites. We decided to treat the existing home, just in case. We used BoraCare and are very happy we did. Over a year after we treated, we built an addition on the cottage. The addition had termites within a matter of weeks; the existing home treated with BoraCare was perfectly fine. Although the liquid is a little pricey, for us it was well worth the investment against future damage.
Noting Better
By Jonathan on 11/04/2012
Had termites eating through floor and entertainment center. Sprayed it down with boracare and next day termites were gone. I've used it for years as a pre-treatment and a kill now product. Cheaper products may work as well but I will stick with Bora-Care for all termite issues. domyownpestcontrol.com had it to me in two days for the cheapest price A+++++

I'm optimistic
By Jim on 11/11/2012
I just applied this to a timber frame that has minor powder post beetle damage on two timbers (out of more than 100). I used up the entire gallon in a 1:1 mix to treat the frame. One thing that helped a lot, I could tell, was using hot water (probably 110 degrees F or so) to mix it. It dissolves much faster in the hot water. I am impressed at how well it wets the dry wood. I'll know whether it worked next July, but based on how well it seemed to penetrate, I'm pretty optimistic.

Powder Post Beatles in hardwood floor
By Don on 12/14/2012
When I couldn't get Terminix to commit to treating the powderpost beatles in my hardwood flooring, Boracare to the rescue. Given the fact that the flooring was glued to a concrete slab, it would have been both expensive and difficult to remove the infected pieces. I simply saturated the infected area with a 5 to 1 ratio mix, let stand for a few days and voila the little guys were dead. Thanks DoMyOwnPestControl.

Great folks to work with
By Gr on 02/11/2013
This is my second order from do my own pest control, and i am certain not my last. shipping is fast and products are top notch as well as tips and instructions. i used this boracare to treat some powder post beetles in old barn wood - works like it should. had a buddy who treated his rough sawn barn framing and siding with it before he built the barn, now thats a smart idea if you have powder post beetles and carpenter bees like we do in our area.
