Bora-Care is the BEST!
By Michael on 01/11/2010
I had a termite control company give me an estimate to spot treat my drywood termites and it was astronomical! I found that DoMyOwnPestControl.com had the same product Boracare for a fraction of the cost. I treated my infestation using the recommendations on the website and now I have a termite free home and more money in my pocket!

Bora-Care Product Review
By Patrick on 04/29/2010
I don't know why the wood adjacent to my bath tub wet wall was moist? There were no leaks and the plumbing vent to the roof was well sealed. Condensation? The bath drainpipe and water inlets come up through a hole in the slab. The subterranean termite varmints tunneled 10' or 40' under the house slab and surfaced at this point of exposed earth attracted by the moist wood. They swarmed the first warm days in Spring. I treated the exposed earth area with the Dominion 2L termiticide and then filled it with sand. I treated the slab, wood framing, floor and molding with a 2:1 mixture of BoraCare. I sprayed BoraCare down from the attic and drilled holes in the walls where there was no other access. I will finish by treating the ground around the house with Dominion 2L. My problem appears to be solved for under $200. Thanks DoMyOwnPestControl.com!

Easy to mix and use, and I don't get sick
By Larry on 06/08/2010
I have used half a gallon for remediation of dry wood termites on fascia boards by using 1:1 and 1:2 dilutions applied to bare wood and by injecting in drilled holes where the wood is covered by paint. I like this product as well as the Bifen IT, as they are fairly non-toxic to people and animals. I can use both of them extensively without feeling ill effects myself. I added Bifen IT to the Boracare solution to get a 0.12% Bifen IT concentration (double strength). The Bifen IT works as an quick termiticide and the Boracare provides long term protection. Now that I have stopped the active infestations, I can take my time and protect the rest of my house's fascia, rafter and joist board ends with simply painting a 1:5 Boracare dilution on the ends of the boards (where dry wood termites enter). I will need a 2nd gallon of Boracare to protect the entire house and will be ordering soon. For approximately $200 of products from Domyownpestcontrol, I will have done the remediation work and the whole house protection. This has been a lot of work, but I have saved many thousands of dollars, plus I can take my time and know that the job is done right.

Easy to use
By Beverly on 06/14/2010
Easy to mix (used the sprayer from DoMyOwnPestControl), easy to use. Staff at DMOPC very friendly and helpful with order and instructions of use as well as safety precautions. Always use listed precautions for mixing and applying. I also believe this company to have safety of delivery as a priority as they provide tracking info, send reminders and/or call to confirm receipt of the product.

Boracare
By Flp on 07/24/2010
I read the online info and figured out that my problem was powder post beetles. I had a fine powder all over my stairs and I followed the directions and so far, 3 days later, I have seen no sign of the powder again. I am keeping the rest of the Boracare in case I have the problem again as apparently the beetles can move to new territory.

Boracare seems safe to use
By Larry on 07/27/2010
I can use Boracare and Bifen IT, products I purchased from Domyownpestcontrol.com, for several hours at a time and not feel any adverse effects on myself during or after using these. Since I just applied Boracare, I don't know yet how effective it is. I used it and Bifen IT together for remedial work to correct for termite damage. I know Bifen IT is effective on termites and works fast, but I don't know how long it will last for long term protection. Boracare is supposed to provide permanent protection. When all the remedial work is done, I will use it for long term preventive care of the rest of my house by applying it to rafter boards in the attic, where the dry wood termites are likely to attack. In our area, dry wood termites are aggressive and everywhere, so preventive care is the way to go-- it is less expensive and a lot less work to prevent termites than to do the remedial work that can require the replacement of boards. I'm on my second gallon of Boracare, and will need a 3rd gallon to finish the preventive work.

Salvaged Wood Carvings
By Irene on 08/08/2010
I had purchased quite a few deeply carved very heavy wood carvings from temples in India almost 50 years ago. When we checked them out for packing for our move to Virginia, they were teeming with powder post beetles. I almost threw them out! I cleaned off what I saw and packed them up in plastic. Recently, I was brave enough to open them. I prayed about something to destroy the infestation. My daughter went on line and found Boracare. My son followed the directions exactly and let them dry thoroughly on the garage floor. Then we sprayed Liquid Gold on all sides and let that dry. They turned out beautiful! I plan to use this product on other antique wood furniture that I had from my 30-year old antique business.

Great Customer Service
By Ianeta on 09/02/2010
I'm impressed with the follow up on my order. An agent, I believe her name is Sheree, called me long distance to make sure my shipping address was correct. I can see now that DoMyOwnPestControl.com is a company I will always do business with. "MALO", in Samoan that means, WELL DONE. Take care and thank you very much.

The "Final Solution," paraphrasing a comment from WWII
By Charles on 09/06/2010
I had used two toxic sprays on walnut which was infested with pencil post beetles and termites, to no avail. I had my lumber drying shed tented, commercially, specifically for pencil post beetles-- again to no long term success. I finally brushed each board with Boracare, and replaced the wood in the drying shed. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, short and long term!

Bora-Care
By Shawn on 09/07/2010
Beetles were in the lumber I used to make a Walnut table and the piles of saw dust were the evidence as to their existence. I applied Bora-Care liberally according to the directions, and presto, no more saw dust piles. It worked as advertised. There was a bit of white residue, but that wiped right off. No problem. I will touch up the areas where the finish was dulled, but again, no problem compared to the scare of having to take the table apart and replace lumber.

Boracare application
By Jason on 12/20/2010
Sprayed 4 gallons of Boracare a few weeks ago. Had no problem mixing with hot water and a paint mixer attachment for the drill. Regular chemical sprayer worked fine and I covered the entire 1200ft 2 structure in a few hours. It soaked in after a few days and only left sticky drops on the vinyl windows that could be washed off easily. Wear a face shield as some of the spray will drip down from the ceiling joists.

Impressive Product
By Dave on 03/29/2011
I discovered Powder Post and Old Borer Beetle exit holes in some of my 2x6's in my houses crawl space in October 2010. I did my research and noticed three universities and customers give Boracare great reviews. I ordered enough to apply the product 1 to 1 ratio, mixed IAW instructions and applied it to all the wood in my crawl space. "Lot of Work" but I got it done. I waited to write this review until I would know if it worked. March 29th 2011, I notice an old borer beetle sunning itself in my drive three weeks ago and step on it thinking oh'no! I went in the crawl space today and did an inspection and found just one hole that I might have missed when I filled the holes in last fall. As of now I WOULD SAY THIS PRODUCT IS 99.9% EFFECTIVE AGAINST BEETLES! I will continue to monitor the crawl space during the Summer and hopefully will have the same results. The only draw back from using this product, it did turn my copper water pipes green and would try to avoid spraying Boracare on copper.

Using BoraCare
By Jim on 04/16/2011
I received my BoraCare in just a few days. This product was very easy to mix and spray in a pump up sprayer. I had dry wood termites in exterior lower foundation boards (garage area of my home). I removed the infected board and sprayed the area with Boracare. I also sprayed the foundation wall sills and exterior corner boards (end grain area) as well. I learned so much about this product from Do My Own Pest Control and their customer reviews, I'm happy that I found you and I'm telling my family and friends about your company and products. I expect great results from the Boracare. Jim

Treatment cost is insignificant
By Steve on 04/28/2011
Last Thanksgiving, I discovered that Eastern Subterranean Termites had begun infesting our 100 year old house. I have been remodeling for five years and have previously seen no evidence in any areas I have worked. Nevertheless, they have significantly consumed a door frame and wall which I installed three years ago. Therefore, I think the infestation must have started in the summer following that work, two years ago. Over the winter, I have employed a four fold strategy to try to discourage further activity. Since there were no mud tubes visible on the outside or inside of the concrete block foundation, I filled the blocks with dry concrete sand mix. I have also trenched and soaked about 100 gallons of 0.1 percent Dominion 2L down the outside of the block walls and have installed Advance bait traps around the perimeter. Most importantly, I have thoroughly saturated all base plates from at least one side with 50 percent BoraCare solution; once last winter and again nearing spring. Initially, I considered a much cheaper water based borate but, having observed the feeding behavior through the center of framing members, I am convinced that the deep saturation of BoraCare's propylene glycol carrier is essential to protection. Furthermore, the expense of treatment is insignificant compared to damage remediation. So far, I have observed no fresh activity this spring but I will need to continue vigilant monitoring. Termites are a serious challenge and Do My Own Pest Control has been a tremendous resource.

Everything Great!!
By Jamy on 06/13/2011

Bora-Care
By Steve on 07/12/2011
The real test will be over the years... I have used this product many times in both old construction and new construction. I use it after fumigation of older buildings in the locations I can access. I use it in new construction once I have the building framed and dried-in and before any internal sheathing goes up. Since I am dealing primarily with dry-wood termites I spray twice in the higher locations as this is where I have seen most infestations. So far so good. Do My Own Pest Control has always been fast to deliver and good with educational information.

Cabin Saved

Review Upgrade
By Anonymous on 08/10/2011
I posted my original review of Boracare nearly a year ago (Sept 16, 2010) after using it in an attempt to save my antique cabinetmaker's workbench from a severe powderpost beetle infestation. I actually thought the situation was hopeless but bought and tried the product anyway. At that time I gave it a three-star rating because I had no way of knowing if it would work as advertised, or even if it would work at all. As I wrote then, I was "still not absolutely convinced that the powderpost beetle infestation is a thing of the past." Only time would tell. Now, nearly a year after giving my my workbench the Boracare treatment and using it every day, I have seen absolutely no further evidence of any insect infestation. Boracare DOES work as advertised and I couldn't be more pleased with the product. I am therefore upgrading my original rating from three to five stars. Well done and an hearty thank you to Boracare and DoMyOwnPestControl.com.

Boracare
By Richard on 09/15/2011
I wanted to wait to write the review for awhile as the sawdust continued to form for a couple weeks after treatment. 2 coats were applied. Now, about a month later, I don't see any new sawdust. Hopefully this will take care of the problem. The Boracare was easy to apply. I have 1/2 gal left, so I will save it for next year and give it another 2 coats. This was used on 5" timbers used as landscaping timbers around a basement egress window. The timbers are stacked on each other, so most timbers only had one side coated. Some had 2 sides coated. Rich
Boracare is Great Stuff
By Billy on 11/17/2011
I've used Boracare in renovations on wood window frames and sashes, wooden porch columns, interior structural members and on the exterior when sealed with a couple of coats of penetrating oil primer. It works great and soaks deep into the wood. I've also used it in new construction, putting it in a garden sprayer and coating the lower 4 feet of sheathing and framing before closing in the walls. Dilute it 50/50 with hot water. It's non-toxic and cheap insurance.

Boracare
By Claude on 03/05/2012
I ordered boracare to treat what I think is power post bugs.My order came very fast and packaged well. I find that it mixes easy with a drill and paint mixer in cold or warm water. I also ordered the 2Gal pro sprayer to replace the old one that I had. This is the best sprayer that I have found anywhere. I mixed boracare 1to1 to spray under my house. In some places its very low to the ground. Boracare covers good and the 2 gal sprayer works very well in tight places. This was a lot of work but its good to know I want have to do it again for many many years
FIRST TIME USING BORACARE
By Tig on 03/07/2012
I can't speak to how the powder post beetles will feel about it yet, as it's only been applied for one week now, however it was super easy to dilute and mix and applied fast and easily. DoMyOwnPestControl shipped it in a timely manner and packaged it well. I have no complaints and am thrilled to be able to use a product which had no fumes coming up thru the floor and was safe for my two little dogs. Other products' fumes can last for a very long time and make people and animals ill. As to how long the product will continue to kill powder post beetles, I'll go look for evidence of them a year from now. It could quite possibly last longer. I live in a VERY DAMP climate (the coast) where moisture is the number one problem. This appears to be the best solution on the market so far.

Appears to be great
By Kent on 04/24/2012
I say "appears to be great" because I have only applied it just a few days ago and I'm assuming that if any critters munch on the studs of my kitchen they'll soon be meeting their doom now that I've applied this. I'm renovating the kitchen, hence the ability to spray Boracare on open studs. A word of caution...this stuff is thick and will clog your sprayer if you aren't careful. Thus, as this website will tell you and as the label on the container advises... (1) use warm water when mixing, (2) spray soon after you mix it, and (3) thoroughly rinse after you use it. It's not hard...just know that the product is designed to harden like glue and will do the same in your sprayer if you're careless. As for the the shipment and overall satisfaction with this website (domyownpestcontrol), I couldn't be happier. I have ordered TONS of stuff from these guys and I'm telling you...there is no better company out there! Incredible customer support, fast shipping, and great packaging. Everything you'd want in a great customer experience!
Very good product
By Jian on 05/15/2012
After I did some research and found out this item bora-care and I bought 4 gallon for my remodeling sweet home. It's easy to mix with water and easy to spray, by the way the champion spray from this website, is better what I thought. Only thing is the pipe is not too long and I have to carry the 2 gal tan around. It's not a big deal. I sprayed the most house where the drywall has gone. wood absorbs the liquid really fast. How much effect the termite? I don't know yet, so far I don't have termite, hopefully I will never have termite in a long time. Now I am buying Timbor from here, to put dust to the joints and floor corner before everything is closed up. By the way, the company is great, good service, fast shipping. It's even better than Amazon :)

Easy to use
By Alice on 06/04/2012
I was surprised at how easy this product was to use. Rather than pay a pest company to tent our home we chose to spray our entire attic with Bora Care. Why?? Because we don't want future infestations of termites! Bora Care information says that once sprayed, termites cannot exist in the wood. It is very important to take sprayer apart after each use and rinse each part as otherwise it does harden in the sprayer. Because it takes time to soak in, we won't know how effective the product is for some period of time. But I am tracking to be able to share results in the future.
