Can Bora-Care be used near a vegetable garden?

Is Bora-Care safe to use as a termite treatment on a tree stump jeary vegetable garden? Is there any concern with it leeching into the ground and being absorbed by the vegetable's roots?

Answer:

You should not use Boracare for termite control outdoors unless you are treating structural wood such as a fence or deck. Boracare is not safe to spray on edibles or any other plants, and we cannot advise you to use it on a tree stump. The best treatment for termites in a stump would be removing the stump since their job in nature is to break down decaying wood. If you are concerned about termites in your garden, you can pour boiling water over a colony that you may see.
