I need to apply a slurry of acephate to the trunk of my crepe myrtles to control aphids to prevent black soot mold on the leaves. Would this be the correct product for this?
While the Acephate 97UP isn't always the first choice for this application due to odor and formulation, it is labeled for aphid control. Page 19 of the Product Label states the Acephate 97UP can be applied to crepe myrtles for aphids and other insects at a use rate of 4 oz per 100 gallons of water. Apply the specified amount of ACEPHATE 97UP in 100 gallons of water with a hydraulic sprayer as a full coverage spray. Dominion 2L is often used as a systemic drench product around the base of the tree to be taken up by the roots for year/season-long aphid control and prevention. Page 34 of the Dominion 2L Product Label goes over drenching instructions for aphids and similar pests, and is used at the rate of 0.1 - 0.4 oz per inch of trunk diameter at breast height, and mixed with 5-10 gallons of water per 1000 sq/ft area of tree root zone.
