Can I use Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder in an established bed of German Iris?

The iris are infested by grass and some broadleaf weeds that appear to be annual weeds. Could I spray this over the top of the iris, esp. while they're dormant, and not hurt the iris?

Answer:

Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder is not labeled for German iris. It will not kill existing weeds as it is a pre-emergent herbicide that helps to control grasses and broadleaf weeds prior to germination.  Grass Out Max can be applied in an iris bed without harming the iris if applied according to the instructions on the product label. Per the Snapshot product label: It may be applied for control of susceptible annual weeds in ornamental bulbs, e.g., bulbous iris, daffodil, hyacinth, and tulip.  Apply Snapshot 2.5 TG to the soil surface 2 to 4 weeks after planting, but prior to the emergence of annual weeds.
