MSM Turf Herbicide is safe to use on St. Augustine grass and is labeled to control seedling Virginia Buttonweed, but only suppress the more mature plants - repeat applications may be required in 4 to 6 weeks. This basically means that it is more likely to kill newer growth, but will have a tougher time killing the more established Virgina Buttonweeds.
