Can I use Permethrin SFR around pigs?

I am raising pigs and plan on putting them in a new area that is mixed woodlands. The area is teaming with ticks so I was going to spray the area before moving them with permethrin. Will it be safe to allow them into this area to graze, etc. How long after spraying? Also if I want to dip or apply permethrin to the pigs what would be the correct concentration?

Answer:

Permethrin SFR can be used in animal housing areas containing swine and for use on swine. Per the product label, you would use 4 oz in 25 gallons of water to treat 50-100 head of swine, and thoroughly wet or dip animals including ears. You must allow 5 days between the last treatment and slaughter. Permethrin SFR is not labeled for use on grazing areas. For this treatment, we would recommend Essentria All Purpose Insecticide.
