I have a sponge weed wiper and would like to wipe colonies of nutsedge instead of spraying them to avoid damage to the cedar tree the colonies are flourishing under. Will wiping work as well as spraying?
While the Sedgehammer + Herbicide is designed to be mixed with water and sprayed on the nutsedge to get complete coverage of the plant, if the wipe on method is the only option due to the sensitivity of the surrounding vegetation, you can use that method. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that you would want to try to get as much coverage with the sponge on the leaf surfaces as you can, and any mixed solution you have left over would need to be disposed of as mixtures are only good for about 24-48 hours before they start to break down in the tank.
