Duster doesn't work on bee nests.
By Anne on 11/13/2021
The bellows duster is well made, but the wand is not flexible, so I wasn't able to get any dust past the entry hole and into the nest. The "Carpenter Bee Dust Application" video shows dust application using a bulb duster. If a bulb duster with a flexible tip is the better option for treating carpenter bees, then that should have been part of the "Carpenter Bee Control Kit" and not the bellows duster. Money wasted!

Fixed!
By Brian on 06/16/2023
I had a huge carpenter bee problem. I paid a renowned exterminator company to rid my home of them. I paid $275.00 and it took him 5 minutes. The problem also existed in my outbuildings. I wasn't going to pay that again so I researched and found out that I could buy the same chemicals from Do-My-Own. I saved a bundle and it worked great, unlike the junk I bought at the big box store.
Works

I purchased the carpenter bee kit to address a chronic infestation of carpenter bees on a single board on my deck cover. The product works, within 24 hrs most bees were deceased, 2 days later another application of the dust and there are no more bees. I had been plagued with bees every year since I built my deck roof...no they are gone!

I received the kit promptly. It also seems to be working. I was very disappointed when I opened the box and everything in it had pesticide dust on it from the bottle of powder that was in the package. The cap was loose and dust was escaping. Not sure if I will order anything else. If I do and that happens again then that will be the last time.

No More Bees
By Mark on 04/28/2024
I had an issue every year with carpenter bees burrowing holes in our wooden deck. Tried the wooden boxes that would trap them but never seemed to workout very well. After spraying areas on the deck, then use the powder and plug the holes they stopped coming. It has been about a month and no signs of bees or holes. When I see one they quickly leave and move on. Perfect!
Great product!

I live in a log house, and carpenter bees have been a huge problem since building the house. This kit seems to be working well. I used the dust, and the spray as directed and I’m seeing dead bees, and none are buzzing around. Best product I’ve found since building the house in 09 to control the bees.

Worked the First Time
By Mark on 06/03/2024
Had issues with Carpenter Bees and decided to try the control kit. After following the directions the bees stopped coming around. When I noticed a bee starting to land in areas from previous visits they would quickly fly away. It has been well over a month since the first application and I haven't see any carpenter bees. Perfect!
Defiantly will buy again

This stuff really works. We have bought it many times over the last few years and it kills the carpenter bees quickly. We just bought a new house with a big barn and the bees are eating at it like it is a piece of cheese. After using this product again we have reduced the bee population down significantly..... will buy over and over, great stuff and not expensive.

Carpenter Bees GONE
By John on 05/09/2025
I had a carpenter bee problem for a number of years and tried many things to eliminate them. After using the dust and spray, I can finally say that most if not all have left the area. I only wish that the kit had an option to add more plugs as I used the 20 very quicky.
Carpenter Bee party over!
By Mark on 05/30/2025
I’ve had a Carpenter Bee issue for a couple of years. This year they decided to have a family reunion at my house. Professional exterminator wanted $2,000 to get rid of them. I tried this system instead and it worked exactly how the instructions said. The powder was a bit hard to apply as all of the bee holes were on the bottom of the board. A 2 inch surgical tube extension fixed that. This system worked perfectly for me.

Carpenter Bee control
By Rene on 03/29/2020
I have sprayed and dusted once so far and it didn't even faze them. It killed maybe 5 that I saw. I have more now than I did before I sprayed. It says to spray again in 2 weeks. It also says not to plug the holes until they are dead because they will just burrow another way out. Not sure if I did something wrong. I mixed the spray like it says and sprayed every surface and hole. Then dusted every hole. I will update my review after the second application

Carpenter Bee Issue
By Linda on 05/15/2020
We had finished installing a new deck ceiling last year. Added the bee additive to the stain. We noticed one small hole and saw the bee going on and the dust coming out. We ordered your product, followed the directions and then filled the hole back in with wire mesh and filler. Restrained and have had no more issues. Thank you for providing your product!

Works Great!
By Ed on 08/15/2020
Works better than described! Kills almost on contact! The only change would be to only wait a couple of days before putting in the plugs. I saw some complaints that the plugs were too big for the hole, ( mine fit perfectly ) just drill it out with a 3/8” bit, 1/2” deep. I haven't tried the preventative spray yet, going to use that in the Spring.
Carpenter Bee Control Kit

The only problem I had with the kit was the duster. It has a straight metal tube that is restrictive in what locations you can treat with it. In the carpenter bee situation we have, it is on the rear deck of our house. The bees were creating their holes underneath the solid panels that are a half wall of sorts on the deck. It was impossible to get the tube into a sprayable angle. I wish the kit came with a 12" flexible hose that could be attached to the straight metal tube end. I did this myself, so that I had the flex in the tubing that allowed me to bend it into the holes. This was about a week ago and it has reduced the hovering bees in the area from 5 or 6, to only 1. I still have to insert the plastic plugs and spray the liquid solution. Also want to line the bottom panel with 2.5" metal/foil HVAC tape to hopefully deter future bee drilling.
