While it is not usually needed to mix another type of dust with CimeXa Insecticide Dust you could do so as long as they were applied as directed on their respective product labels. CimeXa does work very well on its own and actually has a broader label of applications than either Delta Dust or Tempo 1%.
It can be normal to see more activity after applying a product like Cimexa Dust as the fleas can become irritated and more active due to the product. When pests come into contact with CimeXa dust, the product clings to their exoskeleton and absorbs the waxy coating, causing death from dehydration. Cimexa does not kill immediately but instead will take several hours to actually kill the fleas. With fleas, the main part of your treatment is vacuuming. Vacuuming pulls fleas and eggs to the surface and also provides the stimulation the pupa (immature flea) need to exit their cocoons and expose themselves to the insecticides that have been applied. This could actually be the reason you are seeing more fleas in the container than before.
When treating for bed bugs or any other insect pest, we have to get the insecticide in contact with the insect. For bed bug treatments, that means treating all the harborage areas and potential harborage areas with insecticides. Insecticide dust such as the CimeXa would be best for wall voids because it is the longest lasting formulation that we can use there. Usually the best way to access the wall void is by removing outlet and switch plate covers and then applying the dust with a hand duster. The B&G Bulb Duster 1150 would be a good choice for you because it has a flexible plastic application tip.
We would not recommend creating addidtional holes in the wall unless they could be immediately sealed. Please let us know if you have further questions.
Cimexa Dust is 100% Silica dust, is very safe, odorless, and will not stain. CimeXa Dust will last up to 10 years when applied to undisturbed areas like wall voids. It is very effective on bed bugs, fleas, and especially pyrethroid resistant bed bugs. When pests come into contact with CimeXa, the product clings to their exoskeleton and absorbs the waxy coating, causing death from dehydration. Be sure not to use too much dust in an area so that the bed bugs walk through it instead of around it.
Yes, CimeXa Insecticide Dust can be used in this area. You will need a duster to apply, such as the B&G Bulb Duster. You may also want to take a moment to read over our Bed Bug Guide. A more common pest to find in bathrooms is roaches; you can view our Roach Identification Guide to make sure you are treating for the correct pest.
We recommend several different products to use in conjuction with CimeXa Insecticide Dust for bed bug control. Please see our Bed Bug Treatment Gude for a list of products we recommend one of which would be one of our Bed Bug Kit for example see our Bed Bug Kit #2 that would treat 2 bedrooms completely, plus give you follow-up treatments as well.
CimeXa Insecticide Dust should not be applied directly to skin as it is abrasive and can cause irritation. If it does come into contact with skin, the manufacturer recommends washing immediately with soap and water.
CimeXa Dust works by clinging to the exoskeletons of the bed bugs and absorbs the waxy coating causing death from dehydration. So yes it would work that way in your vacuum, but we would recommend emptying out your vacuum cleaner, and getting out those bed bugs each time you vacuum.
Absolutely, CimeXa Insecticide Dust will kill palmetto bugs. Please see our Roach Treatment Guide for more tips and information.
Yes, CimeXa Dust can be applied in the wall voids where you previously applied Tempo 1% Dust a year ago.
Per the product label of CimeXa Insecticide Dust it can cause moderate eye irritation in humans and domestic animals. We would have to say that this would include birds as well. We would recommend removing their cages during the application, and until the dust completely settles in the room. The residual of the product would be perfectly safe provided they did not come in direct contact with it.
CimeXa Dust is not labeled to kill fire ants.
We would recommend you take a look at our Fire Ant Guide.
Cimexa Dust is labeled for carpet beetles when applied as directed on the label and can kill the adults and larvae that contact the treated area. If you have already applied a DE dust we would not recommend applying another dust in the same area for several months as too much dust can make insects avoid treated areas.
Please take a few moments to review our article about How To Treat Carpet Beetles for more tips and information. An insecticide dust such as CimeXa Insecticide Dust applied with either a hand duster or a Dustin Mizer would be great to use in a drop ceiling area for spiders and other crawling pests. CimeXa will be effective as long as it is present and dry, so it will provide protection long after liquid insecticides will have broken down. Dust is also safe to use where there may be electrical wires in that area. You may also need to check the humidity in the basement area; higher than normal humidity can attract insects which are providing a food source for the spiders. Please see our Spider Treatment Guide for more tips and information.
Cimexa Dust will kill the bedbug nymphs when they hatch from the eggs. We would recommend one of our Bed Bug Control kits here. Which kit you choose depends on the number of rooms you need to treat.
You can see the kits by clicking on the link below:

CimeXa Insecticide Dust can be used as part of a treatment program for carpet beetles, however we would recommend using an insecticide liquid or spray and an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) as well for faster knockdown and control. NyGuard Plus contains both an IGR and an insecticide, and it is safe to use as a crack and crevice spray and as a broadcast for listed pests. Please take a few moments to review our article about How To Treat Carpet Beetles for more tips and information. Infested clothing items should be washed and dried or dry cleaned. Be sure that you have correctly identified the insect pest to ensure that it is not clothing moths that you have.
CimeXa Insecticide Dust will kill all crawling stages of bed bugs but not the eggs themselves. It will kill bed bug nymphs that hatch from dusted eggs.
CimeXa Insecticide Dust can take minutes to hours to kill depending on what stage in life cycle the Bed Bugs are. It does cause them to dehydrate and die. The immature stages may take longer as they are not as active as the mature stages.
There really would be no valid reason for mixing Cimexa with Diatomaceous Earth as they are both dusts that would be used in the same areas and will kill the same way. If you do choose to apply them both, you should apply each product according to the instructions on each product label. Be aware that applying too much dust can have a negative effect. If you can see the dust, so can insects and they may avoid the treated area.
