    Q
What is the best oil based insecticide to use in a thermal fogger when treating mosquitoes?
I bought a thermal fogger to help with the mosquito problem where I live in south Florida. It's a little confusing as to what to use in it to effectively control my mosquito population. What's a carrier oil? Do you add an insecticide concentrate to it? Should I use a premixed insecticide? Help?!
    A

You should use a product like our popular CSI 4-4 Mosquito, Fly & Gnat Control.  It can be applied as is with no mixing of any other product.  It is oil based, so you can pour it directly into your thermal fogger and apply it right away and it is labeled for mosquitoes.

    Q
What is the dilution rate for CSI 4-4?
I was wondering about dilution for CSI 4-4. The description says to dilute with water, but the manufacturer says to use mineral oil. Is mineral oil ok for use in a Stihl SR450? Can you use mineral oil from a hardware store? What dilution ratio would you recommend for black Flies? Thanks!
    A

CSI 4-4 would be used undiluted or diluted with mineral oil per the product label. We have updated the error on the site. You can use mineral oil at local stores.  We do not carry any Stihl equipment so are not familar with the model you have.  Instructions and rates vary depending on if you are using a thermal fogger or non-thermal ULV, motorized, portable, backpack, handheld or truck-mounted fogging equipment/mist blower as well as the wind speed in the area.  Please refer to pages 3-4 of the label for a complete breakdown.

  • Asked by Edward from Renova

    Q
Is 4-4 Mosquito, Fly & Gnat Control safe to use in a 2 gallon pump sprayer? What's the mix ratio in trying to control flies?
    A

No, 4-4 Mosquito, Fly & Gnat Control cannot be applied using a hand pump sprayer, it is only labeled to be applied via ULV NonThermal Foggers (cold fog), Thermal Aerosol Fogging equipment, Aerail Applications or Mist Blower.

We would suggest Vector-Ban Plus that contains 10% Permethrin and 10% PBO as an alternative that can be used in automatic misting systems, outdoor band applications, indoor applications, crack & crevice, ULV & space spray, and on listed animals. Vector-Ban Plus controls mosquitoes that transmit the West Nile Virus, Flies, Gnats, Wasps, Fleas, Cockroaches, Bed Bugs, Spiders and many more nuisance insects.

The mix rate for severe infestations is 6.4 fl oz per gallon of water & for maintenance applications, mix 3.2 fl oz per gallon of water.

    Q
Will CSI 4-4 Mosquito, Fly & Gnat Control kill roaches?
    A

CSI 4-4 Mosquito, Fly & Gnat Control is not labeled for roaches.  Foggers generally are used as a flushing treatment and do not leave a long residual.  If battling roaches, we recommend using one of our Roach Control Kits. Roaches are a persistent pest and require multiple treatments using a combination of products in order to be completely eradicated. Please see our Roach Control Guide for step by step instructions on how to do a full treatment.
