Also, what is a good natural spray pest control for inside?
    A

Cyonara 9.7 is a great insecticide that is labeled for many insects. It has a monthly residual outdoors and a quarterly residual indoors. Without knowing what you are treating for it makes it hard to offer additional information. Please click the link below for our Natural/Organic pest control products available on our website. Q
If I use Cyonara to kill grass hoppers and my dog eats them will it harm the dog?
    A
Once dry the cyonara is only lethal to something the size of an insect. The dog would have to consume more than its body weight in grasshoppers to have any sort of possible effects from the product after it has dried. The main time to use caution is when you are doing the application to make sure the pets stay out of the area until everything has dried.

    Q
Recommendation for controlling adult mosquitoes and not much else.
I live in an area heavily invested with mosquitoes. I've been using Cyonara 9.7 for a couple of years (once a month during the spring and summer @ 0.8 oz per gal.) and been reasonably happy with the lack of mosquitoes. However I have noticed a reduction in other insects that haven' bothered me so much. Could you recommend a product that is more specific to mosquitoes, or perhaps a product that lasts longer? I live in Michigan
    A
Unfortunately insecticides like Cyonara 9.7 are not selective and will kill just about any insect that contacts the treated surface area.  There is not one that will only mosquitoes and nothing else.

    Q
Can Steri-Fab be used with Cyonara 9.7?
Can I use Cyonara 9.7 and Steri-Fab together?
    A
There is no reason to mix Cyonara 9.7 and Steri-Fab together.  Steri-Fab is a ready to use product that requires not mixing with water or anything and can be used just about anywhere you are actively seeing bugs.  Cyonara is a concentrate that should only be mixed with water and applied along baseboards and cracks and crevices.

    Q
    Does Cyonara 9.7 kill Springtales?
    A
Cyonara 9.7 does not list springtails on the product label.

A presence of springtails means there is usually a moisture issue under the house or around the house.  Springtail eradication depends on eliminating the moisture source.  If the springtails are breeding from under the slab, then the granules around the outside of the house will not effect them and they will be able to get into the house.  It is imperative to correct any moisture issues or water that puddles up against the house.  You could use Bifen IT inside and on the house outside for some extra killing power in addition to the granules.

Typically, pesticides alone will not take care of a springtail problem.  It is required to fix whatever moisture issue is causing the problem.  You should read our "How To Get Rid of Springtails" article for further information

    Q
Is Cyonara 9.7 safe for houseplants?
I need to know if it will harm my ornamental dwarf tree if it gets on the leaves.
    A

Cyonara 9.7 is not labeled for use on houseplants but can be used on ornamentals outside so would not harm the tree when used as directed on the label.  We would recommend moving the plants outside to spray and waiting until dry before placing back inside.

    Q
Does Cyonara 9.7 kill bird mites?
    A
Yes, Cyonara 9.7 will kill bird mites.  Bird mites are very difficult to treat and control so in addition to just spraying you also need to vacuum regularly and thoroughly.  Also the use of some other key products in addition to Cyonara will help treat the mites faster.  Please read our "How to Get Rid of Bird Mites" article for further recommendations.

  • Asked by Bryce from South Lyon, Mi

    Q
I have a log cabin in northern Michigan that I need to spray for prevention of carpenter ants and bees.
I would also like to use it for mosquito spraying. It is near water as well. I was considering a Solo back pack blower for application. What is the best product and application?
    A

To spray around the log cabin for carpenter ants and bees, we would recommend Cyonara 9.7. This product will not stain the wood on the cabin. This can be used inside the Solo 451 backpack sprayer as well.

If you are spraying for mosquitos around water, we would recommend EcoVia EC. It is made with liquid botanical oils and can be applied around the water without harming the aquatic life.

  • Asked by Michaela from Fairgrove, Michigan
    10/21/2014
    Q
Can you help me identity what kind of spider I have captured?
I found a spider in my door way a month ago. It is shiny black and has a single rust colored spot on it's ventral underbelly. It is smaller than a standard pencil eraser. I put it in a mason jar to get a better look. It has thin yellowish legs with brown stripes on them and large black fangs. After I removed the spider from it's home in my doorway another spider of the same species took it's place. I have compared photos of black widow and brown widow spiders to the spiders I have in my mason jar and have found they most resemble a widow spider. What kind do you think it is?
    A
While you have given a great description of the spider, we could not safe for certain without seeing a picture of the pest. Is there any way you can take a few clear pictures of either the one in the jar or the one that replaced the one you caught? This will allow us to make a proper identification. If you can, email the picture to [email protected]. That being said, no spider species is really any harder to kill than another, so even if it was a black or brown widow, the method would be the same for treatment as it would if it were the granddaddy long legged spider, wolf spider or any other species. You can use a product like Cyonara 9.7 indoors around baseboards and cracks and crevices, around window and door frames, and all around the foundation of the home outside. You will want to spray 2-3 feet up on the side of the home and 3-4 feet out on the ground, and around any other points of entry for the pest. Also, keep in mind when you have spiders around the home they are there because they have a plentiful food source so anything you have around the home (flower beds with pine straw or mulch, landscape rock, etc) that could be providing great shelter and living conditions for the spiders food sources needs to be treated heavily as well to deter them from the home.

    Q
Is Cyonara 9.7 safe to use in horse stalls?
    A

Cyonara 9.7 is labeled to be used in livestock housing structures but does not specify horse barns or stalls.  Apply as a general surface (including directed sprays) and/or crack and crevice treatment.  A better option and more popular would be the Permethrin SFR.

    Q
My dogs are grazers- will it make them sick if they eatgrass that was sprayed with Cyonara 9.7?
    A

Pets should not be in the area while Cyonara 9.7 is being applied or while it is still wet. Once dry, it is safe for your pets to return to the treated area. If applied accurately, it should not harm those dogs that consume a small amount from eating grass, as this is taken into consideration by the manufacturer.  However, if your dog consumesr large amounts then we suggest consulting a vet.
